  1. Maybe so. But, I sure hope they made the investment to try to attract more fans. If they utilize it properly, it might help.
  2. For those who already want to go to a Zips basketball game.
  3. So, here's something to ponder this morning. For those who already go to Zips Basketball games, this is a fantastic addition. We'll all love it. But for people who don't have any interest in Zips Basketball, is this an attraction for them? Probably not, if they never see it. So, I'm hoping that they do some creative things to make a greater use out of it than just a video board during games. Maybe have a movie night for kids and families, etc. Also, if Zips Basketball itself is not the attraction for them, doing other things with the board during the game breaks and intermissions might persuade them to attend games for that additional entertainment outside of what is happening on the court. We'll see.
  4. Hmm. I'm testing my late night math skills here, and can't figure out how a 3-7-3 record is to our advantage. I know. That's not one of the best teams in the country that I was watching as our opponent tonight. But since we won, I'm now glad the team we defeated had a bloated ranking
  5. I remember letting out a big WHAAAATTTT?? when I saw this game on the schedule. But at this point, we managed a NOON game a few weeks ago, so we're a little prepared. Our neighbors will love hearing us loading the car at 6am.
  6. My nomination for Creative Image Of The Year on Zips Nation. We already had one guy here recently that could have destroyed a football program forever. That was enough for me.
  7. That was in response to a post indicating that the weather conditions were an excuse for lack of offensive production. Both teams played under the same conditions.
  8. Western Michigan, playing under the same weather conditions, managed to accumulate 426 yards. Summary: After that game, I think it was very justifiable for someone to feel much more positive about the progress of our defense, and much less positive about the progress of our offense. Western's coach was even willing to give Akron possession with 5 min. left, and trailing by 1, knowing they could get the ball back again.
  9. I'm glad you commented. I was really scratching my head when I read that "Milwee called a good game" comment as well. It wasn't just an anemic 2nd half. In the first half, after the 80 yard drive and 27 yard drive (following the interception return) for touchdowns, we punted and gained very few yards on the other drives. I'm certainly not patting my OC on the back for a 215 yard performance.
  10. I even tried to bring home one of the leftovers (I couldn't believe one was still there) from the Suite in my wife's purse, but it got crushed. She was mad that she had to clean out her purse. I was mad because my damn Zippy Cookie was destroyed
  11. Interesting find. That's correct. We were Independent through the 1991 season. We were not a MAC member until 1992, and actually went 5-3 and tied for 2nd place in that inaugural year. It's still amazing to me that we often fared pretty well against MAC teams back then, even though we were still struggling just to get a roster full of D-1A players.
  12. In terms of having some things that didn't go our way in the final minutes? Yes. But coming back from way behind, on the road, as a heavy underdog isn't what I had in mind when I mentioned an unexpected loss that might still happen sometime before the season closes. I was wondering something else too. Does anyone know when was the last we started conference play with a 3-0 record?
  13. We still beat a 4-2 football team. But if they finish the season poorly, obviously you'll look at the quality of the win a little differently. I actually think they will do fairly well from here on out. I think we just caught them on a day when things went our way when we needed it. That's college football. We'll probably be on the opposite end of the same type of event before the season is over.
  14. Whenever I see football players and coaches getting interviewed with a backdrop of white paint peeling from concrete, it will always give me flashbacks of the Rubber Bowl.
  15. You obviously weren't in Pittsburgh for the big win over the Panthers at Heinz Field in 2014.
  16. Some don't want to acknowledge it, but this is true. However, maybe that's more of a testament to the quality of our victories during that time, rather than a testament to the magnitude of this particular victory. But I'm taking it.
  17. I know. We always seem just as susceptible to the unexpected loss, as we are to benefit from an unexpected win. Actually, maybe that makes us no different than any of the other D-1 teams in the country.
  18. Nothing at/near the top. But Chuck might have a defense that's worked its way back to somewhat of a 2015 form. That was clearly the difference today.
  19. Especially with all of the other crap that happened. Getting ready to play yesterday, then getting bused back out to 2 different cities to find hotels, then returning to Kalamazoo again this morning and repeating everything all over again.
  20. You always have a chance. But allowing 13 points from a team that scores 41 per game, and winning only scoring 14 against that team, isn't something anyone here could have predicted.
  21. I'm just so happy because this was the first game this year where we got a result that was really unexpected, and it was in our favor. Sitting all alone at the top of the standings is pretty unexpected too. I'll enjoy this for a week.
  22. It would have been a 70 yard field goal attempt.
  23. Great call to send "The Former President" on the blitz there at the end.
