  1. And why did we change to YELLOW in the first place? Does anyone else remember the old story that our President at the time supposedly wanted Yellow over Gold because of her wardrobe preference when attending games?
  2. 6 years was still too long, I agree.
  3. Isn't it amazing that someone compiles that information? I guess it was pretty "short lived".
  4. Now you're into something I can't definitively answer. But, I think we used that yellow and blue all the way up until JD came here in like 2004? Someone might know better than me. But, I think it might have been close to 10 years.
  5. Yes akzipper, those were the two looks. I guess I could handle the yellow for one game. Maybe. It's actually always nostalgic to see Jason in his earlier Akron years, when he was playing linebacker and was still skinny. Just another reminder of how much he developed to get where he is today.
  6. Just an FYI. The Navy and Gold colors were the original uniform colors that went with the "Moving A" helmet. Then, that design transferred over to the Blue and Yellow uniform change. Besides the fact that I never personally liked the Blue and Yellow, I never thought it fit with the old 80's logo. We should have made a complete change from head to toe that fit the new look. For instance, this would have probably looked great on that un-intimidating yellow color.
  7. That was absolutely stunning, after what we witnessed the week before.
  8. I hope this one is the best indicator of what to expect from Ball State. If having 2 crappy teams on our schedule to start conference play was our way of building some momentum, I'm glad it went down that way.
  9. I thought the same way when I read that post. Regardless of where you stand on the Groce hiring, I had been scratching my head as to why someone was calling that a "home run hire" for Larry, when we haven't played a single basketball game since that event occurred.
  10. Was I the only one who cringed while watching the game, at the very moment that Woodson (needlessly) dove into the end zone on that TD run and landed on his RIGHT side?
  11. Sad, but not surprising. I can only imagine how upset we all would have been in 2013 if we had gained one more yard in Ann Arbor, and returned home all excited to watch the national headlines that only wanted to talk about "the Wolverines laid an egg".
  12. Thanks for posting the info. about BG. I haven't been at a game there in awhile. On the item I have highlighted, I would say that they probably ARE glad to be int he MAC, since they've been a member for about 70 yrs. I'd even say that most of the MAC schools are also right where they should be. I like to believe that we COULD be different. We're still a bit "new", and still growing as a D-1 athletic member. I hope I'm right.
  13. I don't want to get involved in this "Is Bowden going to get fired" debate right now. I'll just say that I find it odd to hear someone insist that he gets fired when we just went 1-0 in conference play with an opening game win on the road. But, Ball State is probably also certainly "must win" for the Bowden Regime, because it's a home game against a weaker quality opponent. I think he needs to win all of those, at the very least, since he's certainly being closely evaluated at this point. But is it "must win" for the East Div. race? Probably not after the win last night. But, going 2-0 would certainly help build a little bit of cushion moving forward, with more difficult games looming.
  14. Oh boy. Well, Van and Manny really carried the load last night at nearly 5 yards per carry combined. But will it make a difference in a closer game somewhere down the road? Or, do we have enough in the arsenal to get what we need from the running game? We'll see.
  15. Thanks for BG for the Turnovers. Thanks to Kyron Brown for the Pick 6 Without that, I seriously think we were going to try to find a way to pee this game away.
  16. Troy completes their upset of #25 LSU. It might be fun sometime to go back and read all of the posts in this thread from those who vehemently insisted that Troy was a garbage football program, just a week ago.
  17. Oh, I couldn't agree more with what came out of his mouth. I was laughing because of the person who was saying it.
  18. This is going to make me laugh all day. http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/20851615/ohio-state-coach-urban-meyer-wants-simple-severe-penalties-lying-ncaa
  19. Only when you're still in it come November. You can't lose a conference game against a team that everyone else might beat, if you expect Nov. to matter.
  20. Game #5, and it already seems like a "must win" game for the future of the Bowden regime. I just can't see how this team could finish the year accomplishing anything if they don't win this one. It would be a serious blow to their commitment for the rest of the year, with seemingly the easiest conference matchup off the table, and a 1-4 record. It would likely be an unrecoverable situation. HAVE to win tomorrow.
  21. And the fans and supporters of the schools they worked for.
  22. Victim-less if you like seeing Akron (and about 80% of the other D-1 Athletic programs) continue on with virtually a ZERO chance of ever winning a title. That's not what I would like to see. I'll keep repeating this: I'll take ANYTHING that moves the needle anywhere near heading back in the right direction again. And with the rewards going only to those who have Millions of Dollars to buy wins, that's not the right direction for me as a College Athletics fan.
  23. Amen. How in the world are you going to fix a problem that was created by a lot of money being involved........by infusing even more money into the mix. As I've said many times. This should be COLLEGE ATHLETICS. If Yale and Harvard once again became the respected college athletic programs in our country, I'd say that would be a move in the right direction. As long as people keep giving boatloads of money to these pathetic shadows of "college athletic programs", and nobody does anything about it, we're all missing out on the true joy of what college athletics should be all about.
  24. As many of you know, I don't follow soccer much, and only mildly followed the beginning of this season. And I really only knew that we dropped a few games already and fell way back in the polls. But my gosh, I went to these last 2 home games and we looked DOMINANT....against 2 really good opponents. What's happened? Is this a case where they just needed a little more work together to gel ? I also saw pure hustle in these 2 games. Pressuring the ball all time. Numerous steals. Was that lacking in the earlier games? Another Observation: Was it just me? Or, did those officials call about 10 fouls on Akron before they called their first foul on a MSU player? It was pretty bad.
