  1. The way they can play such stifling pressing defense could bring back nightmares of the 2013 VCU game. After a 4 year absence from the tournament, I can certainly think of many that who would provide better chances of a victory for us. But, it would get some good attention with Huggins' Akron and Ohio connection.
  2. And it's not like he grew up on a beach. He's from friggin northern Missouri.
  3. Not anymore. I have a new feeling after this... http://www.gozips.com/sports/mbkb/2015-16/boxscores/20160105_hj4o.xml
  4. The Art of the Deal. I read it back in about 1987. Come on. Who are we kidding? If we want another member and we see a benefit, the MAC will cave to get it done. But, we can all keep dreaming of a basketball-related perk.
  5. It shouldn't be. But their perceived elitism surely hasn't disappeared.
  6. I get that. I was merely wondering what everyone else will think about the increased costs.
  7. This makes me wonder how the MAC members would feel about possibly multiple trips to the East Coast with a football team every year?
  8. We can argue about metrics forever, and how accurate they are, and how you think they use each of them. But unfortunately something else has become a far more reliable indicator. Follow the $$$$
  9. I get it. You've repeated this before. You think it's really all truly about figuring out which team is better, even as you claim that you think there's an emphasis on different metrics today......metrics that would clearly favor the "bigger" schools. I would never contend that they have attendance figures sitting in front of them. Nor do they need them. The people harboring their own subjectivity and objectives is enough.
  10. Love the idea, but think that would have about a .05% chance of succeeding. They likely feel that they are doing our conference a big favor by offering us an opportunity to take their football team. We don't have any negotiating power in this situation, except to say NO.
  11. I wouldn't obviously prefer a football-only member. But having UConn's stature as a sports school helps the conference's profile infinitely more than UMass did.
  12. What a disappointment for the Kent State grads, who were likely showing off the skills of their full-time lifelong careers.
  13. Kreed, I think both points are true. And my ?? about whether money mattered was sarcasm. Yes, the "big schools" have more money for recruiting, coaching, travel, etc., etc., etc., that's helped them gain more power. And yes, the committees do clearly know which programs will draw the larger crowds. Teams near the .500 mark in "power conferences" are getting bids over 25+ win mid-majors. That's a crime. And it's only gotten worse. Ask the 26 win Akron Zips how they feel about getting completely shut out of the 2007 tournaments. And ask the 2016 Akron Zips how they feel about playing a road game at OSWho when they had an RPI that was about 40 points higher.
  14. That's a shot of the end of the Ball State game, not the Toledo game. But I love the picture.
  15. Or, so people would be there long enough, and have enough intermissions to buy more food and beer??
  16. Toledo had a #5 in 1979 Toledo had a #9 in 1980. Miami had a #8 in 1984. Ball State had a #9 in 1989. EMU had a #9 in 1996. Kent had a #9 in 2008 Those are the only single-digit ones I can see. Others have been close, but not single-digits. If anyone wants to go back and browse a bit, I think you'll find a pattern that PLENTY of mid-major programs used to get single-digit seeds. Hmm. Is it wrong for me to assume that $$$ has steadily pushed us mid-majors further and further down the totem pole? And it's clearly reflected in the bids and seeds?
  17. Women's college just changed to Quarters. They were previously playing 2 Halfs, just like the men.
  18. Hall really got rattled here last year, if you recall. A great crowd could have the same effect this time around.
  19. Duh. My math is bad at 8pm.
  20. Hmm. That's the same rule that the girls started using this year. Except that they actually started playing Quarters. The impact is that it now allows you to use 10 "free" non-shooting fouls in a half. It should make the games move a bit faster also.
  21. Go figure. Some journalism that aids the reader in getting to know the subject they are writing about.
  22. Ok. How about this.. I won't count any wins that haven't happened yet, if you won't count any losses that haven't happened yet
  23. Bingo And if that were to happen, I'd be if we didn't get a single-digit seed.
  24. My guess is that that they won't feel justified with 2 guys from the same team on the first team. Dog will be 1st. Kwan will be 2nd Antino will be Honorable Mention I won't agree, but that's what I think will happen. I'm with you on this.
  25. We'll play 3 games in Cleveland if we get to the title game.
