  1. It looks like many OSU fans, at least the ones at this thread: http://www.scout.com/college/ohio-state/forums/3156-the-schott/14629836--6-akron-3-ohio-state-a-good-matchup?page=1, are scared about this game. Even if it is because they are down on their own team, I am glad that we are able to get at least a little respect from fans of that school in Columbus. Also interesting is the fact that OSU was considering turning down the bid if they had to travel. Seems pretty convenient that they ended up in the same bracket section as a Florida team without an arena. Might have influenced the committee into moving the game from Akron to Columbus also.
  2. Various reporters on Twitter are claiming that the Zips would host the second round. I haven't seen anything official though.
  3. The game is on ESPN
  4. Mid-Majors already have their own tournament. It is called the CIT and nobody actually wants to be in it. Most mid-majors are more than happy to have a chance to go to OSU with the small chance for the W. We Akron fans are just spoiled by a great team that sadly is not recognized nationally as being great.
  5. Seriously. Did people already forget that we just played 3 games in the Q?
  6. Not saying that I necessarily agree, but interesting. Teamrankings.com lists the Zips as having a 50/50 shot at getting an at large bid to the NCAA tourney. It surprised me, I haven't heard this from anywhere else.
  7. Akron's press conference after the game. Dambrot's very last comment is the most interesting. He thinks that if Big Dog gets in shape, he will be one of the best centers in the COUNTRY next year. That is a lot of hype for any player in the MAC.
  8. It is fantastic to hear a player call Akron his dream school. That is the first step to building a strong program long term. Lets hope that he keeps this view as he continues to be pursued. Michigan is hard to turn down if they end up offering.
  9. From what I have watched, Campbell never had a "good" game. He either was on fire and dominated everything, or he was a slightly above average player. Akron seems to have figured out the best way to guard him, as he did not play particularly well in either game against us. Either that, or we just got really lucky to meet him on two nights that he was just off.
  10. Big Dog wins 6th Man of the Year! http://www.mac-sports.com/news/2016/3/8/MBB_0308162522.aspx
  11. Really good article. Its nice to see a national site put in the time to give an in-depth look at our program.
  12. The tournament changed back to a traditional format this year. The top 4 seeds all receive a single bye.
  13. He's obviously great, but I don't know how much of an advantage it actually is. I read on ESPN that Greg Oden played for the Buckeye's manager team earlier this year. It seems that a lot of these teams bring back old players as well as the team managers.
  14. article: http://www.libertytribune.com/sports/boys_basketball/article_8706d303-ab41-58ef-9f9a-d168e1c9a2be.html I don't think this has been posted yet and it is a pretty great article on Michael. I am really excited to see him in a Zips uniform!
  15. There are no excuses for this game. Teams have figured out how to beat Akron. I have faith that Dambrot can figure something out to right the ship though.
  16. Why are we pressing a guy standing on the mid-court logo?! Its killing us again! Noah and Antino just can't stay in front.
  17. Boo: Last 4 games all weekdays! Yay: Kent in early October when we might have decent weather! Boo: Only bye week is the second to last week of the season? That seems weird to me.
  18. They didn't pay for a ticket, but the student section sure emptied out after they were able to pick up their bobble head at halftime.
  19. That height and weight reminds me of another linebacker. He was pretty good.
  20. True Blue (Buffalo's student group) had a trip planned, but was forced to cancel it today due to weather. I'm disappointed, they always help to create a great atmosphere.
  21. I was just thinking about how running back was the biggest apparent weakness of our team next year. I fully expect Bell to step in and get major time right away.
  22. I wouldn't be so as ure that the university will be changing presidents quite yet. The board has done nothing but show support for Scarborough and thedevilstrip.com is even reporting that they are considering a contract extension at the moment.
  23. The camera is awful. I love Big Dog, but I have seen enough close up shots of his butt to last a lifetime already.
  24. Zips dominate throughout, but BG hits a bunch of garbage threes at the end of the game. Just like what has happened the last few games. Zips by 8
  25. I'm guessing that the one that you liked was Larry Scirotto. He is a ref that I always enjoy having. He seems to do a good job and has fun with it most of the time. He also seems to be a pretty good guy as he is a commander in the Pittsburgh police force.
