I give him about a 30% chance. Jatavis had people talking all year about how he was a great talent from a small conference and that teams should take notice and he still went in the 5th. Nobody has talked about Jerome. Hopefully he can impress some people on pro day/ get an invite to a combine, but he has a lot of work in front of him.
-
I doubt doubt that, but can next year's qb play really be worse than this years? Its not like he tore up defenses this year, I would fully expect him to have much better stats next year if he stuck around. Maybe he is worried about not having JoJo next season, letting defenses fully key on him yet again.
-
Wow, I was not expecting this. He certainly has the talent, but I have heard no buzz about his draft prospects.
-
That's scary. Its not like the people in front of him are top tier defenders. He must be atrocious to not be able to crack the lineup for that reason.

This game is pathetic. Instead of working on improving our offense and strengthening the team to help in our game against a ranked team on Saturday, the Zips are just standing around and jacking up every shot that they can. No effort to run any semblance of a play, or get it into the post.

Exactly. To create a legacy at a school like Akron, a player has to elevate the school to a national level while they are there. Think Hayward, Steph Curry, Adam Morrison, etc. In other words, when a player leads our team to a deep tourney run, then we can start wondering if future fans will care.

Not that it makes it acceptable, but a little perspective. EMU plays FOUR NAIA teams this season. Not even division 3, four teams that are not in the NCAA. Our schedule could be a whole lot worse.

I have only ever heard that Bowden called the plays that first year before giving it up in the second season. If that is true, it is very strange.

One thing that is incredibly frustrating about this team is that, according to ESPN's app, Antino, Noah, Josh, Aaron, and Tavian all did not take a two-point shot all game. It was all threes. I understand what our team is, but that is a little ridiculous. That is half our team! Jimond is so important for this team to be able to create space and get all of these shooters open. I really hope that he gets to a point that he moves into the starting rotation.

Will WMU most likely lose if they play a top team? Yes. Is it guaranteed? No. There is a reason that teams plays the game.

I haven't been listening to the audio feed, but the Zips have hired a DJ specifically for this basketball season. I would imagine that is the music you are hearing.

I really like these uniforms, especially the home version. The white with just blue trim looks really sharp. I also like the small Z on the waistband. It is a nice like call to it, while not being overbearing and making all the "traditionalists" angry. The seal on the shorts is a strange choice though.

If anything, I feel like this proves that the coaches do not want Chapman to be a QB next season. Being pushed (and potentially beaten in the short term) by another competitor can only help Kato's future success, but hurts a player like Chapman with only one season left. To go to the recruiting discussion, my guess would be that nobody ever said he would be the backup and eventual starter. Our coaches probably stated that we have an established starter with one year left and when he leaves it will be an open competition. Of course, a young kid will try to turn that into a better situation for himself when discussing it with other people.

The worst team in the MAC won't be 1-11 this year because we lost to the final two 1-win teams...

I do not likeit at all, and this is not an excuse, but True Blue has been consistently trying to stir up trouble with all of the MACs student groups all season. Somebody just wanted some revenge is my guess.

Game 1: Zips @ Youngstown State - 11/12
UAZippers replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
He was biased towards YSU because he is YSU's radio commentator. He was no where near as much of a homer as Steve French is for the Zips. The whole broadcast was well below the quality you normally get with ESPN. I did not like the lack of a color commentator and the halftime interview in which a rather large man was standing in front of, and blocking, the two people talking was laughable. -
Kicker from LA commits to UA.

Game 1: Zips @ Youngstown State - 11/12
UAZippers replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I am quite concerned that Dambrot does not think highly enough of Utomi, Olojakpoke, or Eubanks to give them a single minute of playing time tonight. With Agba already transferred out of the program, that is starting to look like all misses for an entire year of recruiting. Especially when you see that both of the true freshmen got extended playing time. -
Peter Agba needs to be removed as well. Do we have an open scholarship this season? Did we give Agba's scholarship to one of our walk ons?
-
The women's basketball team just released an article on all of their signees with individual profiles of each on Twitter, so I am sure that the men are about to follow suit. I am not sure what led to this delay though.

Dambrot just sent this out. I know Eric Parrish signed yesterday, but does anyone know who else would have?

Its certainly true that our program is still not at a totally solid spot. We are better than 5 years ago, but I don't believe that anyone can yet call us a "good" MAC team. The question is should we be at a better spot than we currently are? I remember when Bowden was first hired he mentioned multiple times that you can pretty accurately judge a coach by his second and third year with his new team. He said by year two the team should have a better record and year three they should be significantly better and in a spot to compete. In Bowden's second year we had the improved record with four more wins than the year prior, but then year three we said the same with a second consecutive 5-7 tally. Some could argue that there was improvement in the third year, as we beat a pretty good Pitt team on the road and were 4-2 before falling apart down the stretch. Of course, we continued on to get our first ever bowl win the next year. So are we at a spot that we should be happy with our football program? I don't know. It is certainly interesting to look at a WMU team that was 1-11 in the first year that Fleck was brought on board. You could argue that WMU was a better team before Fleck than Akron was before Bowden, but there is no denying that he took that team to a whole new level in four years. The fact is that our team still has not shown the ability to consistently beat teams with a winning record and occasionally loses to really bad teams. Bowden is signed through the end of next season. I believe that we should be happy to give him the rest of his tenure, but start taking a hard look throughout 2017. I am personally still hopeful of Bowdenball's future at Akron, but I do not have the rock solid faith that I had before this season.

Reddit.com/R/cfbstreams has a topic on the game. I got the first link to work, but obviously use these at your own risk.

Quite a lot. I know when I don't know what to watch, I go to Netflix and WatchESPN well before I start flipping channels.

This game isn't technically part of our midweek agreement with ESPN. The official MACtion midweek games don't start until November. This game is just a set up so that our schedule can be aligned to allow us to play on Wednesday next week. Most of the time this would have been our bye week in the season, but for some reason it didn't work out that way this year.
