  1. These refs sure do love calling fouls...
  2. The only reasoning I can find for this 4th quarter is that Bowden secretly bet on Miami to cover the spread.
  3. gozips.com has a link to the Can't state website for a video stream. I'm pretty sure that it will be free as well.
  4. I'm pretty happy with a #7 ranking. I don't think we could have expected much higher. I personally am pretty surprised that he is ranked above Nathan Boothe, who was #8 yesterday. They are pretty similar, but Boothe has always seemed to have more hype from around the conference to me.
  5. MAC Preseason Poll picks Akron to win the MAC East and come in second in the MAC tournament. Pat is also on the preseason all-MAC East team.
  6. Hustle Belt has started their top 25 MAC player list and a familiar name checks in at #25: Reggie McAdams
  7. If Woodson doesn't start next week, Bowden has completely lost his mind.
  8. Shawn just won gold at the IAAF World Championships with a vault of 5.90m!
  9. If you are only interested in musical acts, I saw Bastille perform at EJ last fall. They are widely known as one of the top current indie rock groups in the world. This performance, along with the Rock the Roo series that happens each fall at EJ, had a very large amount of current UA students.
  10. I agree. Every time I tried to get ZipTix there was always a line out the door of students/faculty waiting to get their tickets. I've never seen a big line outside of Infocision.
  11. I disagree completely with you. As a current student, EJ has been THE defining building for my experience as a student. The Ziptix program that gave free tickets to students has afforded me many opportunities to attend a variety of programs that I would have never been able to attend otherwise.
  12. Shawn Barber just became the first 3 time NCAA Champ in UA history!!
  13. That format is an interesting idea, but I am not at all a fan of teams playing each other twice in the regular season. The single game format for rivals is what I like most about college football. If you lose to your rival, you have to sit through a whole year before you can get another shot at them. It makes the games have even more of a meaning.
  14. While not directly a part of the MAC's boycott of Indiana, there already has been some issues involving MAC teams. Buffalo has had to cancel some tennis matches and softball games at Ball State. This is due to New York's ban on publicly funded travel to Indiana. Link to the article where I found the story is here.
  15. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/kyle-pohl-tra-von-chapman-ready-for-zips-quarterback-competition-1.576335?localLinksEnabled=false&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter GT seems to agree with us that it looks like Chapman is the frontrunner right now. It's interesting that leadership style is continually brought up. I'm starting to wonder if the other players had more of a problem with Pohl than I realized.
  16. The official zips soccer account just tweeted that this game is closed to the public.
  17. I think this game proved more than any other that the refs in the MAC are just plain bad. They in no way favored one team over the other, but had absolutely zero control over the game. They even admitted it themselves when they gave Hurley a technical within the first 4 minutes of the game.
  18. Then we were watching different games. I thought the refs stayed fair throughout, but there were multiple calls that I laughed at. Sometimes the fouler didn't even touch the player that was fouled.
  19. I don't think that post was even the slightest bit of a conspiracy theory. It is 100% true that the university bought lousy (cheap) seats for the students. As soon as they had a chance, the students moved down next to the other Akron fans.
  20. Yet another recruit who mentions the Zips 20 win seasons as a major reason for his commitment. We really need some more wins here at the end of the season.
  21. Obviously not what I would have liked at this point in the season, but I can really see that 1st scenario happening.
  22. What I believe he meant, and I fully support, is more of an open involvement. Any student can pitch ideas, or get involved in helping athletics. I believe that this would not only create new, innovative ways to improve the program, but also would lead to a natural increase in interest among the students. Everyone cares more about something that they are directly involved with.
