Does anyone remember Tribble and Freeman indicating that this team has a next level of play? It seems that their teammates did not get this message. The last 2 games have been a level in the wrong direction and it has nothing to do with Tribble, Ali or Freeman. I just have not seen any attempts on offense by Thornton, Scott or Dawson except to shoot and usually miss a shot from the perimeter. Groce usually has a good eye for high quality guards. Maybe their defense justifies their time. Maybe Prather will give them more pressure to perform offensively. Tuesday should be an interesting game to see who earns the minutes on the floor. Hopefully the Zips can turn things around.

I saw Tavari steal the ball and go up for a layup. I also saw his man take him to the hoop and score a layup but the replay showed the player extend his hand and push Tavari off of him. The defensive lapses did not stand out to me but I am not the coach. I agree he needs to get stronger so bigger guards cannot isolate him and take him to the hoop. That being said, we need his offense with Dawson, Thorton and Scott being awol on offense the last few weeks. Dawson has been awol most of the season on offense. Tavari is not afraid to make an offensive move and he has made some 3 pointers. Let him play!

That was a crazy last sequence. Buffalo got 2 offensive rebounds and then there was a mad scramble for the ball and the Zips picked it up. It seemed like both teams were waiting for a whistle and Dawson ran down the court for a pass and a layup. His first points in 2 games.
-
Prather got a lot of their minutes. I think that both played 5 minutes or less. Their lack of offensive is hurting the team. I think Tavari will also see more minutes.
-
This team is having offensive issues. Ali was able to get points down in the paint in the second half and Freeman was able to score. Scott, Thorton and Dawson do not give us anything offensive and if Hunter is off with the 3 ball we are hurting.
-
Tavari, Tribble, Ali and Freeman are bringing this team back. I am surprised he took Tavari out.
-
Comes in launches a three and misses. That is about the extent of his game. Really disappointed in his play offensively this year. Only shoots threes and not at a high percentage. Absolutely nothing inside. I know he is good defensively but this team needs offense.

Finally hitting some 3 point baskets and a steal by Chatman. When Ali has the ball in the paint he needs to take it to the hoop instead of passing outside. Ali just does not seem to be playing with the confidence he has had this season in the paint.

We l I have yet to see Prather do anything even in trash time so very surprised to see him in there. Team needs some offense. We have a history of struggling in Buffalo so not surprised to see that this game is going to be a struggle. We have certainly hit a wall when it comes to our shooting.

I know this will not be a popular post but I hate when we play Division 2 or Division 3 teams because it does not give you a true picture of the players or the progress of the team. You find out who are the players and who are the pretenders when you play tough competition, teams that are better than you. Teams that if you make the tournament you will have to play. Here is the box score of 3 players from the Heidelberg game: Dawson, Mikal 9-12 25 Scott, Shammah 5-8 15 Thornton, Kaleb 4-6 11 And these guys played a total of 54 minutes yesterday and scored 1 point shooting 0 for 11. This is the problem confronting Groce. Not sure what the answer is but hopefully Groce can find the solution.

That is one more than Scott, Thorton and Dawson (LOL)

I disagree. I thought Tribble Freeman, and Ali had good games. But you cannot play 3 on 5 offensively the entire game. Somebody has to get hot among the other 5 players
-
Most of the 3 point shots were wide open shots off the Freeman double team. No excuses. And remember one of our made three pointers was from Freeman.
-
Dawson has just been disappointing offensively after starting off so well. His outside shot has not been there and that seems to be his entire game offensively. We need somebody to help Ali, Freeman and Tribble against good teams and the rest of the team has come up empty.
-
We have 5 starters and only 3 that are scoring. We need more from Hunter and Dawson who are missing in action again. I just wish somebody would step up from the bench to get more minutes but none of the subs have done anything. I only remember Tavari hitting a 3.
-
They will keep doubling us inside until we can make a wide open 3.
-
Tribble is taking the ball inside and making tough shots. Dawson was open on the wing and Tribble just took it to the hoop. He is playing like he wants it bad. Love watching him play.
-
Thorton looks like he just cannot drive to the basket. He starts heading that way and then stops. We need our guards to step up on the double team. We have seen some outside shooting Tavari, Hunter, and some inside moves from Ali. This needs to be a team effort and the Madison defense seems to have some of our guys afraid to penetrate.

Ok I have only watched the last 5 minutes but are these announcers the worst homers ever? -

They are up by 11 with 8 minutes left. Go Rockets -
I think this is important game because when we played good teams early in the season we were without Ali or he had just joined the team. Both Freeman and Tribble indicated in an interview that this team has another level of play. To beat a good team on the road we need to see that next level of play. We need some of our perimeter players to make some shots and hit the 3 ball when they double and triple team Freeman. Really looking forward to see if the Zips can meet this challenge.

Kwan is now playing in Grenada and has played on a number of teams across Europe. Glad to see a former Zip playing professionally. His mom used to post on this board and was very nice.

Akron has been a success for the past 25 years because we have had 2 quality coaches who know how to run a program, find quality recruits who want to improve their game and are willing to be coached, and are content to coach at the mid major level. There were weird circumstances that forced KD to leave and I do not believe it will happen again with JG. I think he will stay with the program and even with the rebuild next year we will be competitive in the MAC.

Somebody needs to teach him to go up strong and stop changing his shot. Bizarre how a point guard cannot make a contested layup. He had a brutal game last night shooting. I agree that if TJ keep up his play she should get back into the starting lineup.

They left immediately after half. Happens every year.
