I watched Bullocks high school tape and he looks amazing However, he had all day to throw and his receivers are wide open. It makes me wonder how do you evaluate a high school quarterback that is on a superior team that never faces any pass rush and can pick and choose to pass to wide open receivers. Obviously, in Akron he has players in his face and his receivers are not wide open. It is great that he is athletic and has a strong arm but he is not making quick decisions and has had difficulty throwing the ball. Are the high school quarterbacks that are on teams with superior talent at all positions and consistently win championships and break records overrated and struggle when college levels the playing field?

Outrageous? Paying $20 to watch Akron football this year.

I am adding to the list: Bullocks attempt to thrown the ball out of bound that was a wounded duck and was intercepted by Central Michigan. You may be a bad passer but you should at least be able to throw a ball out of bounds when the rush is getting to you. And the offsides on the CMU field goal attempt that eventually led to a touchdown instead of a field goal.

Everyone on this board watched Bullock for 7 quarters and came to the same opinion, he is not a division one quarterback. What is he doing in practice to get the confidence of the coaches?

Joe should have made a change at half time. At least we made it close and the 4th quarter was watchable which I guess is the low bar we have for Akron football.

Can our special teams not screw this up so we have a chance to win this game?

I would have gone for it on 4th and 7.

Our special teams are not looking so special. We lost 20 yards when our punt returner does not catch the ball and now a 20 yard punt.

I am keeping this game on just to see if he can move the team. For better or worse this move should have been made at the half.

They are offsides on the field goal and gives them 4 more downs. The ineptitude is beyond anything I have ever seen.

CMU is starting to run the ball with some big holes. Unless there is a fumble or another interception I see another score and game over.

What are the coaches looking at when they believe Tahj is a division one quarterback?

Why not call a time out when the clock is about to expire. This offense is so bad. There is no way the defense can keep Central from scoring when our offense keeps going backwards. Pathetic is too kind to explain what we are watching.

We have 70 yards of total offense. I can name the 2 plays where we got the most of those yards. The pass to the receiver who ran across the field on the roll out and the run by Tahj. Other than that, zippo

Almost every time Bullock drops back he cannot find a reciever. He needs to count to three and throw the ball. On third and 20 he could not even hit the short guy for 8 yards. We need to just run the ball because he does not have the skills of a drop back quarterback.

That is 2 straight third and longs they made when we are playing zone and a guy is running wide open with nobody near him. That is on the coaching, not the players.

Third and ten and an easy pass up the middle. Not sure why they were playingj zone on that play but made that an easy throw and catch.

The last few years In the 4th quarter to get the crowd excited they have a Zips "play of the game" We might be losing by 40 points but sometimes with great difficulty they will find a positive play for the Zips and put it on the scoreboard. In order to blow off some steam from this season, I will ask everyone on the board to give me the worst play of 2023 by the Zips. I know the season is young but I already have a couple of favorites: The missed field goal that would have given us a win over Indiana Our offsides against Temple when they were punting and we would have a last ditch effort to tie the game. When Kentucky threw a touchdown pass after we had the quarterback tackled but could not bring him down to the ground.

I heard the coach on post game that when things go bad he expects somebody to step up and make some plays and nobody did that on Saturday. I just wonder if the transfer portal has a flaw in that when you have so many players from bigger programs transfer down to Akron that they thought this would be easy at a lower level school and when things go bad they tend to give up rather than play harder. And things have gone bad this entire season. I knew JD Brookhart and he told me after he was fired his only regret was bringing in players who thought they were too good to play at Akron and it killed the locker room. When you look at Akron basketball you have had 2 coaches in 25 years and you have a tradition of a winning program and players who want to be here and support their teammates. Same thing with our winning soccer program. For better or worse, we need to keep this coach and hope that his recruits whose first choice was Akron can mature and build a winning program.

I had just commented in another thread how this year Akron football was at least watchable. That ended on Saturday. I could not make the game but watched it on TV till 5 minutes left in the first half when I could not watch it any longer. Really reminded me of prior years where I defense could not stop anything. I just wonder did we have a bad game or has the team quit and we will not see another watchable game. For those that stayed till the bitter end, you are amazing. I have seen so much bad Akron football I just had to turn it off.

How can the defense be this bad after playing decent all season. Have they just given up knowing that the offense cannot score?
