  1. Also, this is the heaviest ref I have ever seen ref a college match. The guy has a stomach that is much bigger than mine and that is not good.
  2. My picture keeps freezing on my computer and on my TV. Wonder if anyone else is having this problem who is watching on Flosports?
  3. For those Zips fans who follow both soccer and basketball, Flosport will be broadcasting the Cayman Island Classic. Also, they will be broadcasting the Zips game tomorrow night at Xavier for the Big East quarterfinals. If you sign up for the month of November for $30, you can watch both Zips soccer and the Cayman Island Classic for one price.
  4. I have not watched any of the away soccer games this year and when I checked out Flosports it is $30 a month and not worth it for one soccer game. However, the Zips B ball plays in the Cayman classic in November which is also covered covered by Flosports so I am going to sign up this month and watch the Zips soccer and basketball for $30. I will get to personally see how bad the camera work is for the soccer. The broadcast for basketball from Flosports was high quality.
  5. The color analysis last night made some great points and it all has to do with coaching. 2nd and inches, 3rd and inches, 4th and inches, put the quarterback under center and have him sneak it or have him give it to a back. Has anyone watched my hometown team the Philly Eagles. He also indicate that the passes Cuffler was attempting were 30 yard passes for 10 yards in that they were on the sidelines on the far side of the field. He indicated that a coach should make it easier on his QB with shorter passes. Finally, use Lingard as a receiver out of the backfield. He is a good receiver and can make yards after the catch. It also allows Cuffler to get rid of the ball quickly.
  6. If I were to take a poll, I would bet that every Zip on this board was waiting for Undercuffler to throw an interception on that last drive. He threw some nice balls in the 4th quarter and needs to get credit for this win.
  7. I cannot believe we won the game on an amazing 4th quarter comeback. I saw about 200 people in the stands minus the bands. Probably 200 watching on TV. We finally pulled one out. There were several Zips that made outstanding plays to win this game.
  8. I remember going to a Kent-Akron game at Kent that we lost and after the game a fan was yelling at Faust and Faust's son tore into the fan stating that his dad worked his butt off. I thought they were going to get physical but cooler heads prevailed.
  9. What is the issue with Ali Ali? I assumed he could play this year when he signed with Akron. You would have thought somebody would have checked on that.
  10. So the Southern League Network is the Summit League Network. I wonder how long it will take Gozips.com to make the correction?
  11. Thanks!!! Worth $10 to watch the Zips first game. I hope the video is decent. For those that sign up, make sure to verify cancellation. I had problems with flosports and I was charged an extra month when I watched the Zips tourney in Florida.
  12. I tried to find it and came up empty. Can somebody find it and get us a link.
  13. I agree. For "life long Zips fans" what made this season especially frustrating was the expectation that this season was going to be better. With the near misses against Temple and Indiana, there was an expectation we would win in the MAC. As "life long Zips fans" we should have known better.
  14. Who knew the win against Morgan State would be the highlight of the season.
  15. A quarterback coach breaking down when a quarterback is ineffective. Sound familiar? One of the best-ever explainers of how costly sacks are was David Cutcliffe. Now retired, Cutcliffe was the fellow who coached such unhesitating, flashing recognition into both the Mannings, first at Tennessee with Peyton and then with Eli at Ole Miss. Cutcliffe always likened the field maelstrom for a quarterback to “air traffic control, and it’s fast.” He wanted such decisiveness from his quarterbacks that he got impatient if a guy even hesitated over a menu. He swears he used the “menu test” as a recruiting filter. If a kid paused and said, “What looks good to you?” Cutcliffe crossed him off the list. The Mannings under Cutcliffe learned to make judgments in just three clicks, “Presnap, post-snap, alarm,” Cutcliffe demanded. Presnap assessment was about making sure you were in the right play and protection, or adjusting it. Post-snap, you had to make an instant assessment as to whether your presnap judgment was right or wrong, and if it was wrong, “go like hell” to get out of it, Cutcliffe taught. If you got to the “alarm” stage, “Now we’re bad wrong,” he explained. “If you’re not careful, what you end up doing is making a decision by indecision,” Cutcliffe said. “And that’s the worst one you make. Decision by indecision — you catch yourself flat footed while you’re waiting for an answer. Any time you hold the ball, you have already made a mistake, because the decision is going to be made for you. You’re going to be sacked or force a ball or quite likely turn it over.”
  16. Do you think we will ever have a home and home with the Dukes. Makes to much sense for it to happen.
  17. Since I turned off the game early in the 3rd quarter when BG drove the ball from the 11 yard line and it seemed that the defense threw in the towel, the worst play goes to Coach Joe for calling a pass play with 30 seconds left in the half and third and thirty that lead to a fumble and then an injury to an offensive lineman who made a great play saving a touchdown and a BG field goal right before the half. I also give him an honorable mention for his penalty for yelling at the refs and turned a 2nd and 10 into a 2nd and 25 that led to the punt where BG took possession at the 11. We were driving the ball up until that penalty.
  18. I turned it off in the 3rd quarter when BG drove the ball from the 11 yard line and scored a TD. It was obvious to me the d had given up and with no offense this game was not watchable. I just wonder if we are done for the season. When the d gives up, what is left?
  19. It started raining and the defense has packed it in. We are done.
  20. Talk about all the stupid penalties we have had this year, the coach decided he wanted to get into the action. How many games have you seen that call?
  21. That should have been a BG touchdown. It was an easy catch. Cannot blame the defense for throwing in the towel in this game. As bad as Undercuffler has been, I saw 2 catchable balls that were not caught. I thought the punter made a great play on the bad snap. However, it was erased by No 74 on the offensive line who then held for a 10 yard penalty and then got beat for a 10 yard sack. The exemplifies this teams season, one step forward and two steps back.
  22. We are playing like a terrible football team. Why even try to throw the ball on 3rd and 25. Stupid Stupid Stupid!!!!
  23. The receivers have to help the quarterback. Daniel George, go to the ball if it is thrown short. That should have been a completion. He was flatfooted. Should not happen at this level.
  24. If you want expectations, mens basketball starts in 3 weeks.
  25. I just checked our record in the last 5 years (2018-2023) and we are 6 and 43 with a total of 3 conference wins. We have watched some really bad football the last 5 years. It is amazing that Akron football has any fans. Watching our offense last week for 3 quarters was painful, especially the decision not to switch quarterbacks until the 4th quarter. However, the defense this year except for Northern Illinois has been good and has kept us in games. The Indiana game was fun to watch until the very end. I am just hoping for a competitive game where our defense keeps us in the game and our offense is watchable.
