  1. and wood slams it down off the full court pass by dials...... way to run the floor big man ha ha
  2. I must say that Can't Fans are the Most classless Pieces of $#!t on earth. Dials little sister ( i presume, because she was wearing a jersey that said dial's sis) was sitting in her seat after the game 1 row in front of the louges. when some of the trash Can't fans seen she had a dials jersey on they started saying rude things to her and she responded by flipping them off. One of the tommy tough nut guys then proceeded to show how mature he was and say ” what you want some of this, you wanna come up here an suck it”. How bout you Can't fans learn to be men and respect females, just cuz your dad probably beat your moms doesnt mean you have to be a loser and disrespect females too! Or better yet..... talk to a MAN like that an you will be spitting out your teeth for the next month!
  3. With all of the snow we have now and the fact that they upgraded it to a level 1 storm ( no vehicles on the road unless it is an emergency vehicle) do you all think the attendance for the game will be less then a sell out............ and do you think they will even have the game? i know i wasent able to get a ticket so i will be watching from my house and rooting for the zips to flush the flushes!
  4. I was watching the end of the Cant State game, and i found it funny that they already have a banner made up and they were carrying it around. it reads Can't State Golden flushes 2007-2008 M.A.C East Division Champs. Dont they have to beat us first for them to be crowned M.A.C East champs........... if we beat them they will be CO Champs i do believe. just more fuel added to the fire between these 2 rivals.
  5. There has been some talk that both Akron and Cincinnati made offers to him for football, but that he is likely to accept a track scholarship somewhere else. That may be true. But from my experience w/ Rivals and Scouts, I'd be willing to bet my money that he never actually received an official scholarship offer from either Akron or Cincy. However, I'm sure he'll be offered a chance to walk-on at a few schools; maybe earn a scholarship in another 2 years. Maybe not.I know that akron offered him, but im not to sure about cincy. I know a kid who plays in the same league as Carlin and went on a few visits to school ( unofficial) with him and akron was one of the schools. The kid can go to a large number of bigger schools for track, so im guessing that is what he is doing....waitin to see who offers for track. One player who we were looking at an liked though, Dom Britt from trotwood madison did not commit to anyone yet, and he was high on akron. it will be interesting to see who decided to walk on and where.
  6. Harvey completing a degree would be the best day in JD's coaching tenure.Well said. That would be a victory for all of UA. That's what these guys are supposed to be in coaching for to begin with, right - to help mold and develop the next generation's young men. Go David Harvey! Even if you never suit up for the Zips again, we're all pulling for you to get your degree!I spoke with Harvey a few weeks back and he told me that his grades were all in order and that he would be on the field with the Zips next year for sure. he just had alot going on in his life last year and it interfered with his academics.By "next year" do you mean 2009?No, this football season coming up he said he will be on the field for us. When he said next year he was refering to the next football season.
  7. Im looking for Bardo to step up just as much if not more then Mcknight. Bardo has shown in the last few weeks that he can be a very good defender on the inside, and he even did a nice job guarding when he stepped out near the 3 point line. He just cant go out there to often because that will leave the middle open for a player to slash into.
  8. as long as it isnt like scout.com or rivals.com, where they post information as breaking news or up to date........ when in reality we found out about the information they provide 2 weeks earlier lol. I know i will never pay for that service again.... i can get all the information on here before they get it. and i can go to scoutingohio.com for the players highlight films.
  9. If they were to sell it to a a private company that would raise everyones rates because what the city doesnt tell you is that the sewer system in akron is in need of a 7 million dollar upgrade just to bring it up to the EPA's standards. Im not sure about you but i know that i dont make enough money for that 7 million dollar cost to be passed onto me.
  10. I do look for the city to work with the University within the next 5-10 years to build a new arena that can be both used to the university and the city. There have been talks for the last 2-3 years with the city and other organizations to bring in a "minor" league team for the Cavs, a team that can be added to the NBADL. Right now the cavs send their players that they want to develope and grow down to Texas to play on a team in the NBADL. Wouldnt it be nice to have an arena that the university can use and also one for a develpomental team from the NBA. I think it may bring alot of exposure to the city and Akron U.
  11. Bringing in the larger schools like Kentucky, Syracuse, Indiana is a good start for a team that hasent showed the ability to win on a consistant basis in the MAC. It may take a few straight years of winning for teams to think about coming to akron to play for the simple fact of what happened this year with the Buckeyes. They played Akron,Cant State and YSU and everyone was saying they didnt deserve to be in the title game. Schools are starting to shy away from playing school who arent able to win games because they dont want it to look bad on their program if they win by a smaller margin then they should. LSU is opening up this year with APP ST. Had APP state got blown out by michigan, i dont see LSU playing them this year but app st showed that they can play with the larger d1 schools.

  14. Massillion Washington RB Devoe Torrence was informed that OSU was pulling thier offer to him. I know he turned down all the other schools on the top of his list and they went out an got verbals from other players in that position. I noticed and have heard from a few people who are involved in the Massillion athletics that Akron was one of his top 6 schools. Below is the list of schools who have extended offers that he previously turned down, and the player they signed in his position.Cincy: Jared Rains RB 5-10 181 4.49 Aliquippa , PA Darrin Williams RB 5-6 156 4.4 Detroit, MI George Winn RB 5-10 175 N/A 5 Southfield, MI Michigan:Mike Cox RB 6-0 203 4.5 Avon, CT Sam McGuffie RB 6-0 188 4.32 Cypress, TX Michigan St:Caulton Ray RB 5-9 185 4.47 Birmingham, MI Ohio State:Jermil Martin RB 6-1 230 N/A Cleveland, OH Lamaar Thomas 5-11 181 4.4 Fort Washington, MD Pitt:Chris Burns RB 5-10 185 4.44 New Wilmington, PA Cameron Saddler RB 5-6 157 4.4 Monroeville, PA Purdue:Albert Evans RB 6-1 190 4.5 Portage, IN Akron:Troy Gilmer RB 6-1 203 4.5 Huber Heights, OH Norman Shuford RB 5-8 165 4.4 Farmington Hills, MI Could the Zips Possibly land this kid? Would JD be willing to take a chance on a kid who may be in some pretty deep water Legally ( i cant say for what because the investigation is pending and he hasent been charged yet)?

  16. this is another things their wrong about........ Nathan Schuler is not from springfield in akron. he uis from the springfield down in south ohio. i seen springfield play and they didnt have any kids on their team good enough to play division 3 in college, let alone D1
  17. I agree. Look what happened today when the 350-450 people that were there started getting into it. They were down by 23 points at one time in the 2nd half ( with 10 minutes remaining) and cut it down to just 2 points very quickly. The lady zips basketball team isnt as bad as their record indicates they have had a few tought breaks as a team with losing one of their top returners in Tokadi, and there have been a few games i believe that they only lost bya few points. Which one were you? the one yelling and saying how ugly their mascot was? That thing was pathetic, and whats up with the hand motion he did ALL GAME! NEVER EVER have a seen a bird or hawk make that kind of motion, so maybe they should send that crackhead hawk to the Zippy 101. How to become the nations best mascot
  18. Its the same rant, just a different year. Whats up with there only being 4 member of the student group, A-K Rowdies at the girls game today. I was in line for food at halftime of the boys game and i heard one of the female basketball players in front of me saying "Its crazy how they only get 5-10 members of our student group ( AK Rowdies) to come to their games, but they swarm to the mens games. If they had a little more support and they showed that they actually cared about our team, we might play a little better". Now dont get all worked up because i know what people will say, "they should play hard no matter who is in the stands, because they are on scholly" But lets not be "fair weather fans" and only show up when the sporting teams are doing good........... how bout showing up to support all of the athletic teams win or lose. I noticed that at the football games also... when they were staying more competitive there were alot more AK Rowdies there but as the season went on and akron was losing games, the numbers really started to decline.... lets go to and support all of our athletic teams, not just the ones who are winning!
  19. Just got done watching this kids highlight film. we need to have Mackey go back to his old stomping groups of Walsh Jesuit HS an talk up the university to this kid...............Big,Strong and loved to put people on thier asses.....http://scoutingohio.com/Pat_McShane_Walsh.htm
  20. As i listened to WNIR today, i heard the voice of the ZIPS mention the BIG Game............ but only the BIG game he was refering to was the OSU and LSU football game. I heard it mentioned at least 10 times, and only once did i hear anything about the real BIG game, the Zips against the Pinkhawks of Miami on Saturday. Maybe he could have given them a few plugs during his show today, or yesterday, or even wednesday...... he is after all the voice of the Zips, not OSU!
  21. For anyone who would like to see our Zips in action against the flyers of Dayton, but arent able to make it to see it live. They will be braodcasting it live, and free of charge at the website www.DaytonFlyers.com Lets make sure that if you arent able to attend in person that you we go to the site an watch our Zips as they try to upset the nationally ranked flyers of Dayton.PS Great Jobs Zips fan...... Zippy, national mascot of the year.......... it has a very nice ring to it
  22. http://scoutingohio.com/Nick_Truesdell_Cin...ti_Anderson.htmwow, id love to see this guy catching passes for the Zips next year. He is HUGE and has very good hands. I seen him play during the state championship and he was a man among boys. Goes up and gets the football, and can also use his speed to outrun someone. Could pick up where arthur left off.
  23. Minnesota Vikings safety Dwight Smith was cited for misdemeanor possession of marijuana after his vehicle was stopped for impeding traffic at a downtown intersection Thursday night, according to the police report. When the officer approached the car to issue a citation, he smelled the "strong odor of marijuana" coming from the vehicle, according to the report. "I have been made aware of the allegations and have been proactive in dealing with the Minneapolis Police Department and will have further comment once all the facts have been gathered and the investigation is complete," Vikings coach Brad Childress said in a written statement. He declined to say whether Smith would play Monday night against the Chicago Bears at the Metrodome. He did practice with the team Friday. A man who answered Smith's cell phone said Smith wasn't there and took a callback message. Smith's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, didn't immediately return a callback message left by The Associated Press Friday evening. The fine for misdemeanor possession of marijuana is $125 for a first offense, but Smith could face punishment from the NFL under its substance abuse policy. Last year, Smith was cited by police for indecent conduct with a woman in a downtown stairwell and was suspended by Childress for last season's opening game as punishment.
