  1. http://scoutingohio.com/Nathan_Klatt_Northwest.htm i posted it in a previous thread, but here it is again.
  2. I posted a highlight film of a player from Canal Fulton Northwest ( Junior Center, 6-5 290 lbs Nate Klatt) and was saying we should sign the kid because he is Big, Fast, Strong and blows people up on every play....... well i think that the coaches might have seen, because i read today that they have extended an offer to him. Hope we get this kid cuz he is a monster.
  3. not sure if anyone else noticed this, but the cant state folks are talking about akron playing dirty.... what about the time akron had the ball going towards the endzone, jackson threw the pass, and was still hit.........and as he got up the Can't state player shoved him down to the ground, why was no flag thrown???? or the pass that sailed over an akron WR's head near the side line an was completely out of his reach, but the Cant state DB lowered his shoulder an ran thru him anyways. so lets not talk about playing dirty.
  4. thank everyone. i was able to get ahold of john himself last night and he informed me that he pretty much tore everything. he didnt go into specifics of what everything is but did say he was done for the year, but hopefully he is able to rehab and come back in time to try out for a team at the next level.
  5. Anyone got an update on his condition? I tried calling him earlier but he didnt answer and i was JW if maybe someone had heard anything. from the looks of it at the end of the game, it didnt look good......... a brace/cast and crutches.
  6. I was at the game and i think this was the loudest we have been in a while. i sat right in with the student sections an had a good time. There were a few things i did NOT like though. We are not Cant State fans, so lets have a little bit of class and leave out the chant "Shoot Can't State" and "FucK Can't State". The guy who was standing right behind me ( they were calling him zippy) and the guy with the blue wig on, they were very classy.... when the student section started that chant, they came back louder with a chant an had them stop saying it. thanks guy. I took my niece who recently moved to akron from out of town to her first zips game, and now she is already begging me to take her to another one. Thanks again guys for making it enjoyable for her and everyone else........... and great game zips.
  7. No im not related to CJ..... Just a Zips fan who is tired of seeing the zips lose. I want the QB who gives us the best chance to win to play.......and from what I have seen i think CJ is the better QB.
  8. our biggest challenge will not be another team, but ourselves. If our Offense can start moving the ball and our defense keeps playing the way they did yesterday then there is no reason for us to lose again this season. But it all boils down to if our OL can gel very quickly, if our QB is able to grow as a player. If our starting QB cant move the ball alot better then we have been in the last 2 games..then maybe it is time to make a switch to another one.
  9. how much did CJ play? Was it his usual 1 series? if that is all he played then maybe we should let him play a few more series a game. I mean he did lead our team in rushing with 10 yards on 3 carries..... what did JAQ do?
  10. After 2 games in which the offense was ok AT BEST. Does anyone else think it might be time to put CJ in to see what he can do. I am watching this Virginia Tech game and they are getting pumped, and because they are unable to move the ball they decided to switch QB's and even though they are losing badly..... you can see the difference between the starter and the replacement........... My opinion is start CJ in the next game and give him a chance to show everyone what he can do and see if he can start moving this offense, because if not we are all in for a LONGGGG and disappointing season.
  11. damn big ten.... thinking their too good to allow people to see it on regular TV, so they make people go an pay an arm an leg for this network to see their games...... their no better then anyone who is playing on abc or espn! so big ten.... get your nose out of the air.
  12. is the game on any television or cable channel? i just used te guide and it didnt come up as being on TV. anyone able to help?
  13. The beacon posted a little section in todays sports page informing everyone that rydell brooks of akron buchtel ( niagra U) has transfered to the University of Akron........... wow, thats amazing, considering that news is about a week old now. the beacon makes me want to just
  14. seeing him return that kick on the opening kickoff made me sit an think ....david who? But i have heard from a few different people that David Harvey is back in class, and that he may rejoin the team next season. Not sure if it is true, but i would love to see it...since arthur is gone after this year.
  15. i agree. i enjoyed the game. the only thing that i didnt like about it was at the end, when the players were coming off the field.... they went to touch hands with the fans along the wall and the coaches started yelling at them to get into the locker room..... i think one of the biggest thing in college football is fan interaction, cuz without us fans the schools wouldnt be making the money. But other then that i think the game was very well set up, enjoyed the halftime, and the flyby before the game was great....... my cousin is in iraq as we speak, so that and the national anthem sent chills up my spine!
  16. ki ki was cut by the chiefs, but he might have a decent chance at making it on their practice squad due to their lack of depth on the DL. lets all hope for the best for him.
  17. I woulda liked to see CJ a little more. because as i hear all the time by sports casters..... a season ending injury is only 1 play away.... and if we dont have QB that has gametime snaps, we might be in trouble. SO LETS PLAY CJ MORE. we could have easily put him in with 5 minutes to go when army punted and we got the ball back.
  18. Firestone is my Alma Mater. I can't remember any big time football players coming from FHS. Swimmers, yes. But very few football players. You have Mike Miller from the class of 99-00. He was a big, fast and extremely strong safety/running back (6'1 225LBS) for the Falcons. He had offers from OSU,Florida,Pitt and alot of other big schools, but his grades and the crowd he was hanging out with caused him to take the wrong path and he never ended up going to any of the schools. You also have Terrance Bailey from that same class. had the size and speed to go to a big time school and was getting serious looks by big schools, but grades killed him.
  19. Im watching this game between Cleveland and Chicago and the former MAC players are doing a NICE JOB.Cleveland:Josh Cribbs. (2 punt returns, 1 for a TD)Charlie Frye. (didnt play much, was 2 FOR 5, an shoulda had a long pass to edwards)Chicago:Garrett Wolff (broke a cleveland defenders ankles)Dan Buzine (Central Michigan)
  20. Rydell Brooks, a 2006 Buchtel High School graduate, has transferred from Niagara University to the University of Akron and is a member of the Zips men’s basketball team, UA Assistant Director of Athletics Media Relations Gregg Bach said.Bach said Brooks will have to sit out the 2007-08 season and will be eligible to play at UA the following three seasons. Brooks is currently a walk-on.Brooks, a 6-foot-2 and 190-pound guard, led Buchtel to three consecutive City Series championships. He was selected as the City Series Player of the Year his junior and senior years and was a Division II second-team all-Ohio pick as a senior.Brooks averaged 27.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.8 steals during his senior campaign as the Griffins leader. He helped Niagara win the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament championship as a freshman. Niagara went 23-12 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament. The Purple Eagles won 12 consecutive games, including the a win over Florida A&M in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Kansas.Brooks played in all 35 games with 30 starts. He averaged 4.7 points in 18 minutes per game. The addition of Brooks gives the Zips six area high school graduates on the roster: Tim Carroll (CVCA), Eric Coblentz (Lake), Nick Goddard (Wadsworth), Andrew Moss (Copley), Jeremiah Wood (Central-Hower) and Brooks.UA went 26-7 last season, winning the Mid-American Conference East Division title and losing in the MAC Tournament championship game. The Zips must replace standouts Romeo Travis and Dru Joyce III, a pair of 2003 St. Vincent-St. Mary graduates, that were key players for four years.
  21. Jackson senior running back CARLIN ISLES carried the ball 20 times for 164 yards and one touchdown Friday night against Westerville South. Isles also had a 79-yard touchdown reception (on a screen play), and Jackson won 29-21.This week Jackson plays @ Nordonia n Friday night at 7:00 PMLARRY DAWSON of Akron North Helped the Vikings pull an upset against host Rootstown on friday night. Dawson showed his speed and ability to make tacklers miss the whole night. he carried the ball 17 times for 130 yards, and also had a reception for 16 yards. This Week North plays @ Akron Coventry Friday night at 7:00 PM.WILL FLEMING, son of Akron coach Jim Flemming showed why he is one of the best players in the state on thursday night at home against Neighborhood Rival, Akron Garfield. Will did a very nice job on the defensive side of the ball, but his standout play of the game was his catch with just over 3 minnutes left in the game. That catch turned out to be the game winner as the Knights beat visiting Garfield 24-21. Fleming had 6 catches for 102 yards and the game winning TDThis week Hoban (home) plays against Walsh Jesuit on Friday night at 7:00 PMWHITNEY MARCELIUS (SP?) of Akron Garfield had a very good game for the Visiting Rams against Akron Hoban. He played both offense (TE) and Defense (DE) and had some nice blocks that led the way for Garfield RB Tyson Gulley to rush for 112 yards (1TD) on 21 carries. This week Garfield plays @ Copley on Friday night at 7:00 PMJohn Adams of Akron Buchtel had a rough outing in his first regular season start in his new position (quarterback). Thats normal for any team trying to break in a new first year coach, offensive line and QB. I look for Buchtel to turn things around midway thru the season.... but that may be to late. Buchtel isnt the only school having trouble getting on track with a new coach, look at ST EDWARDS..... their dominate year in and out, but with the new coach they are now 0-2 after losing tonight to euclid. This week Buchtel plays @ Steubenville on Friday night at 7:00 PM
  22. My biggest suprise is still at QB. i fully thought that CJ had the job. hopefully he gets a chance to prove himself during the first game.
  23. he probably has more then a few choices of places he could go for track, but he is prob thinking long term, so he might want to stick with where the money is.....football. I personally spoke to a kid who was at that same camp as carlin, and he said that the 40 time is legit.
  24. I was just going thru the names of kids we have open offers to right now ( who havent verballed to anyone) and i came across a CB who we offered a scholly to. It suprises me because the kid is only 5'8.5 and 160 LBS and runs a 4.4. Carlin also plays DB as well as playing RB. Could they sign him in the next recruiting class and maybe move him to DB since it looks like they offer the small guys? NAH lets keep him at RB if we get him and maybe kick return.http://akron.scout.com/a.z?s=333&p=8&c=1&nid=3263047
  25. ha ha thatd be nice. i usually do it after i get off work ( work 7-4) and before i go to practice ( i coach youth football from 5:30-8)
