  1. Has not worked for Can't
  2. Shouldn't the question be can Akron compete in the MAC?
  3. Will canning Brookhart now really make a difference? It's pretty clear this ship is sunk and I really don't think the players are into it at all any more. We just need this season to end and fast. Buring Nicely's redshirt would be a disaster and desperation. The season is pretty much lost. There are too many problems to address and no sense throwing an unproven Qb to the wolves.
  4. Who's in control of this football team? When does basketball start?
  5. Outcry means there are people who care. I'd be more concerned with silence.
  6. Ladies and gentlemen the wheels on this bandwagon are loosening by the week.
  7. After the freak show those 18000 were treated to yesterday expect half that next home game. I read elton's newspaper column this morning and wow he let us have it. I can't say I disagree with anything he wrote. There is a losing mentality here in Akron because we do just that at every big opportunity....we lose. How many bowl opportunities have we missed in JD's tenure? People are not stupid. We shutout a 1-AA team that had no business ever being in the game. We play a legit division one opponent and they come in here and pound us to the ground. And I hate that CJ getting booted off the team gives JD a pass from everybody. He recruited that winner and he is another player out of a long line of his recruits that came with baggage. And on another note, those who do not think OSU stunts our growth as a program are kidding themselves. OSU plays in BCS bowls and we cannot even make it to the Chick fillet or whatever bowl. They win. We lose. I could not be more disappointed with Akron football. I was not entertained. It was predictable. I told my friend at the game at the half that we were going to lose the game because I've read this book so many times and know how they all end. We don't know how lucky we have it to have Caleb Porter and KD.
  8. The stadium is going to sit half full in a couple of years regardless. Just like Canal Park.I said empty not half full
  9. I agree. I would have liked to have seen him ousted after last season. It's time for a change. That shiny new stadium will be empty as long as that quality of football is played there.
  10. Ummm I don't know about any of you but I am pissed about how we got dominated today....or should I say "Lynched". Indiana was trying to give us the game and they still dominated. Eastern Kentucky gave those guys a better effort than we did. Fellow Macster WMU did as well and on the road. Offensive and Defensive side of the ball was terrible. I'm sorry but new stadium an all we still have the mediocre borderline bad football team from the rubber bowl. I was bored by the third quarter. At least I have the Browns tomorrow....oh wait.
  11. The football team puts up with far worse criticism than anything said about the band believe me. Every other college band across the country works hard to put a show together as well, and some bands are still better than others. We want ours to be among the best and are trying to offer input. Personally it shows that the fans care about the band. Take what is said with a grain of salt and go kick butt next week.
  12. I elect NO games at browns stadium and NO games on any day but Saturday. Lets build our fan base right here in Akron.
  13. Yes we need the Big Ten to return to prominence. That way it makes us look that much better when we blow the crap out of a B10 team!!! Way to go, Central Michigan!!!! We're next!!!!W00t I like this guy
  14. I think you should have the drums and tubas strut out of the tunnel first for sure, run through the slow cadence or whatever then have rest of the band file in single file to both sides of the field. Then maybe a fast march into a block formations.
  15. I agree even the 1990 entrance was awesome. It sounded like battle drums coming of the tunnel.
  16. First off, I love the band, and I think it is a major major part of the whole gameday experience. Some of the greatest football programs in the country are also known for their marching bands and traditions. With that said here is what I took away from the performance.1) First off, you guys looked sharp. The drill was well thought out and was executed pretty well. I liked how you guys formed the zips logo.2)As always, musicality was great....Ohio's Pride never lacks quality3)I liked how everybody in the band did the cheers, and they are always loud.4)Also, the mini bands around the stadium like penn state does to serenade groups of fans was a nice addition.Now...as a former bando and current zips fan, here is what I thought maybe could have been done better.1)I know the tunnel entrance presents some difficulty in terms of doing the entrance that you used to do at the rubber bowl, but I have to admit the old pregame had me jacked for a game. I liked when the tubas and drums strutted out there first to the syncopated cadence. There was an element of suspense there before the rest of the band ran out there. I'd then prefer to hear you march down to the fight song after the fanfare to the fight song. When you take that field we WANT to hear our fight song.2) Numbers.... out of your control I know, but hopefully with the climbing enrollment we can make a 200 piece band. Band seems small to me. All I can say is recruit recruit recruit and show these high school musicians the experience at the INFO. And what happened to the flagline? Down to 4 members? I'd love to see an auxilary unit here at Akron ala LSU's danceline  . Also, a signature move for the drum major? Penn State's does the flip. OSU's does the mace through the goalposts. They really do a good job in firing up their crowds. Lets start our own tradition as opposed to just running out there and twirling.3)This is a biggie... I'd hate to say it but there seemed to be something lacking in energy. I listen to Can't's band and say the same thing and we are so much better than that. I don't know what it is because I know you all give it 110% but there were times during pregame when I didn't even know when to chant because I had a hard time hearing (was on the pressbox side btw), and it didn't really seem the crowd was feeding off the band and we had the students to do it. Different accoustics maybe at the new digs? Maybe the crowd was THAT loud?I know you guys use zipsnation for fan feedback and just thought I'd give my 2 cents here. I'd like to hear some input from members on here in regard to what we're saying.
  17. Lets just conclude that we're probably going to be blown away by this on Saturday. I mean walking in that stadium is impressive enough. Now put people in those seats and on the berm.....I don't know. It will be something to see.
  18. Coming from the fan of a school that could not even afford to send its band to Cleveland for the MAC tourney.
  19. good post....I'm tired of us being the little engine that could not and getting all excited about one or two good plays all game. What's even worse about today is that our conference mates are getting pasted by the big ten as well. If you're going to lose at least kick the other team in the mouth. Thank you Navy for showing the MAC how it's done.
  20. Ok we're playing the #8 team in the country, but we're not playing like a Division I team at all. This is absolutely humiliating. I hope Tom is at this game. Disgusting
  21. Wow to think this is the best Qb on the team
  22. Honestly you can say the same about our engineering buildings, law buildings, and education buildings. The sweaters always had a campus while we've been playing catch up over the years (doing a very good job of it btw) so it takes time I guess. This campus was so behind the eight ball that it's going to take years to get rid of all the eye sores, but I'm sure all will be addressed.
  23. Anything less than a MAC east title and this season is a failure. This conference is ridiculous.
  24. Most students took their bands off. Heck even the hard core students on this forum removed their bands. Based on my conversations with people on campus, the game is going to be the place to be. One day in class someone saw my band and we started talking about the game. I'd say 70% of the students there alone were planning on coming, and I was surprised. The ones who were not were asking us how to get tickets.
  25. W00t! I figured out how to get my wristband off without cutting it so listen up folks. Take a staple remover and use the jaws to hold the snap button in place and make sure one of the teeth touch the inner groove. I am a UA trained engineer and I figured I'd get it eventually. All I have to do is snap the button back in and I'm there. Bandman will be at the game with no problems. On a related note, expect probably the largest student turnout we've seen at a UA athletic event. Being on campus, there is a definite buzz. Students are pretty excited for the tailgate especially.
