I was fortunate to have the opportunity to tour the stadium last week (the elevators were not in yet--YIKES that was a long climb!!!). The President's Suite will have a fireplace for those chilly afternoons in November!--that is partly how the "other" half will live!! Go Zips!!Holy crap :blink: This place is going to be way too nice to be a MAC facility.

Have to say I'm impressed and a St. Ed's and yet another Ohio product no less. Guy's blazing fast and has some size. It's safe to say we're starting to see the stadium take effect.

A fine display of MAC basketball

Probably because the University wants to get in with the city in order to make this possible. I don't see us being able to afford an arena on our own. Where does this money come from? The city wants it downtown so that's where it probably will be, and I think it would go great in downtown being by canal park and all the bars over there.

I'm not either. I want to win some games in the dance now that I've had a chance to see us in it, but getting in is a good start obviously.

Heck yeah we can use this dude. The three is a low percentage shot in college bb now. The ability to score down low is key for us to get better and can help make up for bad shooting nights which seem to plague us quite often. 7'0 Zeke and this kid at 6'9 we'd have a huge lineup for MAC standards.

We need the fans that live within 25 miles of the university to support us before we can think going national. And who watches ESPNU anyway? Playing weekday football games is the worst concept ever. I have not attended one in years. I was shocked at how full the stadium was this past season when we played BG on Saturday for the homecoming game. It was a great atmosphere too. Set up a video stream online if you want zip fans out of town to follow games. There will be plenty of room for cameras in that nice big press box we'll have and maybe fox sports ohio will pick up a few here and there.

Don't let the door hit ya on the butt on the way out Mack. Proenza, Curtis, and co made the stadium happen....not Mack. Has attendance really increased? Could have fooled me there (4200 at the Akron Can't bball game...pathetic), and he has not had to hire a basketball or football coach so he is unproven in that area. And lets not forget the soccer fiasco. So he's replaceable. Proenza is not. I do think that Mike Waddell would be a great pick. He would bring in a lot of energy and enthusiasm for the job but he just got hired at a directional Missouri school.

This is the problem with MAC basketball. Unless you win the tournament in Cleveland there is really nothing to get excited about, and I fully understand why we cannot draw 4k+ on a consistent basis. I can't say I'm really excited about this team. This is far from the best team I have seen at Akron and those teams could not even get it done. Yay we beat NC A&T or whatever. I can understand that it's probably difficult to recruit when you play in the MAC. I say it's more of an issue with the conference we play in than Dambrot. Dambrot's probably the best coach we can get at Akron. It's a tall order when you have a 1 in 14 chance of getting in the tournament every year. If you want to compare Dambrot with JD consider that five MAC teams in football are going to bowl games. You win 6 games you are in the postseason. I am tired of waiting for the hoops team to finally take the next step though...

Surprisingly nobody offered Gill so the MAC keeps him, but we have the weather argument being thrown around in regard to Hoke. Then why doesn't San Diego State go for Boise State's head coach then? Major major credentials there and I mean Idaho..or California? What on earth is in Idaho besides potatoes and a blue football field? You can then say that Boise gets more BCS opportunities. Sure they do. They don't play in the MAC. The MAC is clearly making up the bottom of the food chain. So where does that put Akron football? If we can't pay our coaches then where do we or can we expect this program to be?

I'm starting to despise Gary Waters. First he created the monster that is Can't basketball and now he's doing the same for another regional rival.

Hopefully Brookhart will make a bid for that book. But once he starts winning after reading the book we'll lose him to north texas. Maybe they need a coach.
