I would like to submit that if my esteemed colleague from Green had a chance to design a form that would allow a University employee to report child rape, along with a six month procedure that would explore every possible avenue of wrong doing before acting, this would have never happened.

Darn, GP1, you came up a winner. Congrats ... !!!It was an easy pick. Talented Zips team against a midling SEC team early in the season...no brainer.
-
The spread may have been wrong, but the result the same.Handwringers, don't worry about the Zips. They are in late season form and getting better because of the summer activity.
-
I remember Dambrot saying at the beginning of last year that Diggs was a special player and he can be an NBA draft pick hes that good. I thought he was a bit crazy but now i can definitely see why he said thatDiggs is the best player on the team...hands down.
-
I guess we know who the loser is and who the guy with a free sweatshirt is going to be.
-
Give me Abreau and Diggs on the floor at all times. These two guys on the break are dangerous. It's been a long time since I've seen a talent like Diggs on the floor for the Zips. Take this to the bank.... The Zips only lose three games this season on their way to a MAC Championship.
-
I have a friend who is a Miss St grad. I took the Zips +7.5. Loser has to buy lunch and a sweatshirt of the winning school and wear it during lunch. Sweatshirt goes to winner after lunch.Let's go Zips!!!!!!

Summer travels result in early season cohesiveness and success. Zips by 3.

You've been watching Akron football for a long time and you should know better. He would be disqualified immediately from consideration for one big reason.... All Paterno has done is win games. 400+ wins...why in the heck would we want a guy like that. The guy couldn't design a "building process" to save what's left of his life. We are about building processes, not winning. I wish some of you could get this straight. I'm sick and tired of explaining it.........

Nothing surprises me when it comes to college athletics.

Help! Give me some reasons why the Zips will beat Can't
GP1 replied to Lee Adams's topic in Akron Zips Football
Here is the only hope I can offer.Last year, I didn't believe it was possible to lose every game and we didn't. I also find it almost impossible to believe a team can go winless in MAC play. Because of that, the Zips will win this weekend. Can't is the kind of team a team who is bound to win at least one game in the MAC beats.Go Zips! -
His grand jury testimony is clear as to what he saw. People who write grand jury findings are pretty good at it and it is clear as to what he saw. Maybe his brain was protecting him, but from what? Mabye he as scared of the culture of PSU where Paterno has the final say on everything and could destroy his career. Remeber, McQueary grew up in State College and never experienced life outside of Paterno's little kingdom. Maybe he thought his career was more important than a child rape case. All of that doesn't matter. He saw a child being raped and did nothing about it.

Penn State's failure of powerGood read Dave. Thanks for posting. I have no idea how Paterno had the nerve to walk on the practice field yesterday. My mind wonders to what the players on the team are thinking and what they thought when he walked on the field? What do they think now when they take a shower after practice in a room where a boy was raped?I truely believe a guy like Paterno has lived a life of people telling him he is right for so long, he has no idea when he is wrong. It would be a shame for him to take the field this Saturday.Lastly, Paterno should not talk to the media and should have his personal attorney do all of his talking for him at this point. Why? I think the FBI should investigate what went on and if he slips up and tells the truth in a presser, it could be held against him. I think a Federal crime may have been committed and he needs to take the 5th as he may have contributed to it.

Remember we are dealing with all the information. I certainly would have broken it up knowing what we all know. But do we know what McQueary knew at the time? Actually, we do. McQueary's grand jury testimony shows he heard slapping sounds like people having sex. He walks in the shower and sees Sandusky raping a young boy with the boy's hands against the shower wall. There is no doubt as to what McQueary saw and he did nothing to stop it. In fact, he ran away like a scared child and told his daddy. He was 28 at the time.I have always heard there is a dark side to Paterno. My bet is a lot of the people around PSU are scared of the guy.

ArticleI find it interesting that some of the more thought provoking articles on this issue are written by women who don't cover sports for a living. Maybe it's because they don't take sports too seriously.
-
Bingo!!!I can honestly say that if I walked in on something like this when I was 28, there would have been a fight to the death. I would have killed Sandusky, or he would have had to kill me trying to save himself from me, but someone would have died. I have no idea how McQueary doesn't go into that shower with fists flying. Chain of command my foot.....

Maureen DowdInteresting take on this situation. One part I find very interesting. Since this story is all over ESPN, young children are hearing about it and maybe for the first time they are hearing words like "molestation". They get curious and then ask their parents what that word means. Now parents have to talk to their children about this issue years before they may want to talk to them about it or are even prepared to talk about it. This story is so f-ed up.....

I agree. This is a national tragedy and I don't think it is an overreaction to say so. In the back of my mind, I think, "If there were 9, there were probably 90". A very sad story.

Everyone, please refrain from Can't bashing for a minute. Can anyone give me a good reason why this is the case? It makes no sense to me.
-
We need a guy like Dambrot. Leavitt is not that guy as he doesn't really understand the mac and getting mac players. It is much more difficult than rounding up players in Florida.I'd go as far as to say the next coach will take on a much bigger problem than Dambrot took over. Save the facilities rants, there is simply zero talent on this football team. If all it took was facilities, we would be much better.
-
Or, it could impact your ability to become the all time winningest coach...

Hours or minutes?

I want the truth to come out in this matter no matter how bad it may be. I don't think the local authorities have the nerve to press an issue on Paterno. Since children were taken across state lines in some cases, it makes it a Federal crime. Paterno needs to sit in front of a Federal grand jury and answer some questions coming from the pricks that are Federal lawyers.
-
Or, he didn't want the issue to go any further so he kept himself in the dark about what was going so he could claim not to know later. It wouldn't be the first time we saw a high profile coach in the last 12 months keep himself in the dark.

The basis of the thread is about average points per game and the end result if we continue at our current average points per game. If we don't average more than 16.3 ppg the remainder of the season, we won't have more points this season than last season. I don't know if you have a language barrier or not, but this isn't that difficult
