  1. This is the 12th scheduled game, but the actual 11th due to the postponement. I am very surprised that nobody has started the thread. The line for the game is NIU -10, but as I stated in other posts, I am predicting an Akron victory. Go Zips!!!
  2. Thanks. Today is Nov. 21, one month away is Dec. 21.
  3. I do not think that Buffalo wanted to or canceled this game. You guys had everything in sight to win against an awful Akron team. However, in today's day and age, safety and potential lawsuits tend to rule the landscape. Although you are claiming the game could have been played, I am glad that it was proactively cancelled based on the forecasts. I think you need to give up your crusade on this forum. Nobody here made the decision and I, would have loved to see the game played, if it was safe. Go Zips!!!
  4. I believe that the football early signing day is now one month away (catdaddyp please correct me if I am wrong). I have reviewed the commit list in the Nation and have attended and watched the games this year and here are my comments on the additional needs. I am assuming that the current recruits are good and competent. -1. Ensure Wassel remains committed. A future QB is greatly needed. If he is red-shirted, he could be a 4-year starter. -2. A senior QB transfer to bridge the gap for Wassel -3. Defensive linemen, one additional freshman 300 lb DT and 3 transfer portal additions due to the graduation losses -4. WR, one portal transfer to replace Jacques-Louis. We currently have 3 excellent transfer receivers, and one addition will allow the Zips to sustain the three good receivers, and this addition will allow the young WR's to develop. -5. OL, one portal transfer to replace Whigan and allow the youngsters to develop -6. DB, one portal transfer to allow the youngsters to develop -7. LB, one portal transfer, two if Bubba is not coming back. I think it is crazy that he may be coming back for his 7th season. -8. TE, No needs this year -9. RB, No needs this year, Coach Joe has raved about Kellom, and we have Wiley, Price, and Norrils I am not sure about the allowable number of recruits, but here are my thoughts. Based on the commitment list and my comments, the recruitment numbers are: High School Seniors - 16 Portal Transfers - 9 I am also curious how many players Coach is going to shed off of the current roster. In Coach JoeMo we trust!!!
  5. After next Saturday for the Zips, we have a 9-month break. j do not need an in-season break. Regarding the Browns, I first blame the GM Berry for over valuing the talent, especially on the DL. Stefanski was not given a talented team. The secondary has a lot of high draft picks, but I do not believe they are that good, and the results are proving me correct. They have the best RB room and a very good offensive line. Part of the blame is that he brought in a backup QB in Brissett who has no business being a starter. As I posted earlier, I fully expect the Zips to beat NIU next Saturday after watching the 2nd half of their previous game. The Zips will be in a better place going into next season. It will bring energy and hope to the winter workouts as well as spring ball and Coach Joe will do wonders next year. Go Zips!!!
  6. Yes it does. You may not be a Browns fan, but the fact that you post on this forum shows that you are a die-hard Zip fan. You want to see the Zips play and win. Wins are coming. Go Zips!!!
  7. Great. A weekend without Zips and Browns football would be awful.
  8. I just saw that Orchard Park is up to 77 inches of snow with more to come. The NFL made a good call to move the Browns Bills game. I watched the weather over the last 12-16 hours and it looked like the U. of Buffalo was hit with snow. I am curious to know how much and await a message from brjacr75.
  9. Thank you for your posts, seriously. You beat me to the post and I will add more here. I agree with most of what you say. The main item is that if you do not live in the snow belt, you do not understand the concept of lake effect snow. I live in Geauga County, east of Cleveland, and we may get more snow than Buffalo. We average about 9 feet of snow per year. We got a 69-inch snowfall in Nov 96, and I did not miss a day of work. Sure, the snowplows were working, and I snow blew every 3-4 hours, but we got around as needed. Now, we get 6 inches of snow in Geauga County and the plows, shovels, and snow blowers come out and nobody thinks twice, and the kids go to school, and adults go to work. In Akron and Cleveland, 6 inches of snow shuts down everything and schools are cancelled. From where I am, 5-10 miles north or south and there are only flurries when we get the snow. I do appreciate the proactive safety of moving/delaying the games. You cannot always predict exactly where the snow will fall. There are days when I get 10 inches of snow and 5 miles away in the snowbelt there is very little, or vice versa. It is easy to look back and comment on the areas where snow did not fall. Not so easy to predict, so I support the weather forecasts and moves/delays. I understand that Buffalo wants to get bowl eligible, and Akron seems like easy pickings to get to 6 wins. I am also hoping they figure out how to play the game. Please continue with updates on the weather. Go Zips!!!! brjacr75 - I look forward to your reply and comments.
  10. I just saw that the Browns - Bills game has been moved to Detroit. Now, let's see what decision the MAC makes.
  11. At this point, everything, including the amount of snow, is just speculation. It is great that the road crews, MAC, and NFL have contingency plans and are preparing for the worst. If the road crews stay out and ahead of the snow, the roads can be passible, especially if the snow amount is closer to 3 feet and not 6 feet. I am looking forward to the decisions that will be made. I was so looking forward to football this weekend. Go Zips!!!
  12. I just called Coach Joe to ask him if the game was still being played, and his phone was turned off. I then called Guthrie, and his number was forwarded to someone who did not answer. After a couple of calls to the ticket office, I finally got hold of someone. The person said that there were calls with the coach, AD, and MAC in the morning, but no decision has been made as of the current time. He did not know if the equipment truck had left yet. He suggested I call back tomorrow to see if there was an update.
  13. I would appreciate it if you went and rooted for the Zips and Browns. However, I just saw an article on a MSN page that said that the snowfall forecast may now be up to 6 feet and the NFL is exploring options to move the Browns Biills game to another date or location. No mention was made of the Zips Buffalo game. A problem is that the Bills play on Thanksgiving. I remember in November 1996 when where I live got 69 inches of snow over 3 days, and it nearly shut down the area. Here's to hoping the forecast is wrong. If you go, be safe and careful. Go Zips!!! I now see that LoyalZIP beat me to the punch in the link above. Sorry for the partial repeat.
  14. After watching the 2nd half of Miami beating NIU, I am very confident that Akron will win its final game against NIU. Go Zips!!!
  15. W. Mich vs C. Mich game is in a blizzard on ESPNU. This is so cool. It may be a foreshadowing of the Akron Buffalo game this Saturday.
  16. Please read my last two sentences. How do we get the alumni and students to support the University of Akron in the same way? Intelligent replies are hoped for so that the Administration can build the same model.
  17. Just finished watching the BG Toledo football game. Toledo made an amazing comeback to take a one-point lead and then BG had an incredible drive in the last minute to win. The Falcons were awful just a couple of years ago, and now they are bowl eligible. I know they were playing in Toledo, which is close to BG, but what was amazing to me was the amount of BG fans that were present, and the weather was awful as it was raining or snowing most of the game. It looked like there were many BG fans present, including students, and Akron cannot get students to home games. The Administration needs to figure out how to get students and fans to the games. Go Zips!!! I was one minute behind you.
  18. Earlier in the season, I was considering going to Buffalo this weekend to watch the Zips on Saturday, and then the Browns on Sunday. After seeing the weather forecast, not a chance. About 20 years ago I was on a business trip just into Canada across from Buffalo this exact time of year, and Buffalo got hit hard with snow and transportation was crippled. What I had to do to get home for Thanksgiving was unbelievable. Is anyone going to Buffalo to watch the Zips live and brave the weather? If so, please let us know. We will pray for a safe trip for you. I am very curious how many fans the Zips will have at the stadium and we can look for you on TV. Go Zips!!!
  19. Outside of Central Michigan, I disagree. Let's win one or two of the last two games. Go Zips!!!
  20. I rewatched the game last night and have these comments: -Hester had a couple of nice returns -Bubba was again sensational -Although he threw two picks (the second was in desperation at the end). I think the offense was much more productive with Undercuffler. There were some big drops and some near misses, but the running game was much better. I believe that the defense was focusing more on passing and this opened up the run. -Wiley did a nice job at RB -Adams was clutch, as were the other 2 WR transfers. As I stated in another post, I think we have a chance in the last two games. Go Zips!!!
  21. I was flipping back and forth between the Buffalo and NIU games last night to try to learn a little about the Zips last two opponents. Based on what I saw, I think the Zips have a chance in these last two games. The one issue that I will predict i is that Akron needs to be ready to play the final two games on the road. After this season, it could be a challenge. Go Zips!!
  22. Could not find any details on Spriggs. However, Wein looks fantastic! He would be a great recruit. I always think we need at least 3 DL in each recruiting class. Go Zips!!!
  23. After that turn of events, I am leaving and driving 90 minutes home. Good night!
  24. Terrible spot on Undercuffler run
  25. Thank you. Please look one post above to show the game starts at 7 p.m. Maybe I should have said 1900. One my way to the game. Go Zips!!!
