MDZip
Domenik Hixon had another big day, two huge kickoff returns. Given that he is also a better receiver than Josh Cribbs, if I was looking for a young returner, I'd take Hixon - I don't expect to get a lot of argument on this board. MDZip
This is semi-related. I was just watching Colts-Chargers and they still do the player intro's where they name their college. When they got to Antonio Gates, he said "Detroit Central High School". Did Can't change its name - maybe as part of the Ohio Higher Education Realignment or was it to conform to the truth in advertising laws? Cribbs has a pro bowl appearance. I think he is who I would grab. He is fun to watch cover and return kicks.
skip-zip
Nice Topic...I'll try to be as partial as I can and say that the only edge Cribbs has is that he's a little more physically stronger than Hixon, and may have more ability to break tackles. Other than that, it's no contest. Both teams got these guys to use them as a receiver/return guy....and Cribbs will never be remotely close to having the WR talent that Hixon has.And wouldn't it be nice if Hixon goes to the pro bowl as the NFC return man this year. It might happen.
Let'sGoZips94
Hixon- Hands Down! Cribbs is decent: quick, good cut-backs, and pretty darn good returner, but he can lack consistency. That's why I would go Hixon, because he's pretty consistent.
Big Zip
The sad part of this whole question is there is no reason they don't both play for the Browns -- Hixon was available for the taking when he was cut and the Browns past. On top of that Blackburn was talked about last week as being the heart and soul of their special teams -- now that he is starting they were very concerned about his play on special teams being impacted -- thus they were going to watch him closely. Blackburn was in the Browns camp as a local tryout guy and then cut.Not too hard to tell why the Browns are where they are given these types of decisions. Zippysgotagun
Cribbs, IMHO, is being a bit under utilized in the browns offense. I'd really enjoy seeing him in a Ronnie Brown "wildcat" role. He was obviously at least competent as a passer in college. I don't see any reason he couldn't be used in the now famous single wing as a RB/QB with either Lewis or Harrison as the Wingback. I like Hixon, and agree that he's better receiver, but I think Cribbs could be more valuable to the browns.

zen
Cribbs is a hell of an athlete. I can't hate on Cribbs just because he made the mistake of going to Can't. lol He has earned my respect. He's not having as good a season this year, but whenever I see him return or go on return coverage, it still amazes me that he was a QB.All that said, I started Hixon on my fantasy team this week and he did NOT disappoint. :DI'm not sure if anyone even has Cribbs on their roster, because he mostly just does returns. scottditzen
Hixon HUGE for the Giants. I was really proud when nbc went to the highlights and there it was "DOMENIK HIXON" spelled out on the screen!!! I'm sure every N Illinois fan who was watching had a relapse there for a second. I'd want both Hixon and Cribbs on my team.

Zip_ME87
The Arizona Republichttp://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/s...23cards-CR.htmlGiants too much for Cardinals..."We had two of our normal starters out of the game, but the guys rose up and played well," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. One guy who rose up was receiver Domenik Hixon, a third-year player out of Akron. With Jacobs out, running back Ahmad Bradshaw was replaced by Hixon for the first time this season.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------New York Timeshttp://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/24/sports/f...mp;ref=footballHixon Makes the Most of His Chance to Play"With tailback Brandon Jacobs out with a knee injury and receiver Plaxico Burress exiting with a sore hamstring after one route, the Giants needed a spark for their offense. They discovered one in Hixon. His two long kickoff returns Sunday helped the Giants seize control in their 37-29 victory over Arizona. Hixon seemed to make plays no matter how he ended up with the ball — returning, receiving, rushing."---------------------------------------------------------'Kudos & Wet Willies,' Domenik Hixon editionhttp://www.bigblueview.com/2008/11/24/6690...willies-domenik"Kudos to...Domenik Hixon: This is the only possible place to start. Hixon was the difference in Sunday's outcome. Why hasn't this guy been returning kicks all season? An 83-yarder, a 68-yarder and a total of 180 yards on three returns. He hits the hole on returns so much faster than Ahmad Bradshaw that it's ridiculous. Oh, and throw in six catches for 57 yards, one run for 11 and two punt returns for 15. That's 263 yards of offense on 12 touches for a guy Reese picked up on waivers. Thank you again, Denver Broncos. It is absolutely scary that the Giants have a guy this good, and he is a backup. I probably shouldn't, but I am starting to wonder if the Giants are just as good -- or better -- when Hixon is on the field and Plaxico Burress has a baseball cap on. Captain Kangaroo
Hixson has an Engineering degree, earned within 4 years, while competing in D1 football. He's won a MAC championship and a Super Bowl. Cribbs lost a bunch of college games and spent his idle campus time bagging and distributing dope. "Josh's Cribbs" does seem like a really compelling TV show, however. Hixson in a landslide.

It was enough for me just to get that degree...I can't imagine playing football at the same time. Thanks Captain.I agree, too. Hixon in a landslide. (If they didn't broadcast NY Giants games in Cleveland, I'd have no NFL games worth watching.)
johnnyzip84
This is a little off-topic, but it reminds me of two former Zips who not only got their engineering degrees while playing D-1 ball, they also managed to successfully complete a cooperative work assignment (at a previous employer of mine) during a FALL semester IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FOOTBALL SEASON! It's always been evident that college athletes need to learn effective time management early on, but this really impressed the heck out of me at the time. They were both important contributors to the football team that year AND to their work place.Back on topic, I keep wondering if there's any market for a "Dominik's Hixons" show
