GP1
I can't believe this team is 2-7. After watching every play today I feel great about the future. There is a lot of talent here. There just needs to be a coach that can put it all together. Hopefully we don't lose any of that talent with a coaching change. Spin
We have the makings of a GREAT quarterback. Poised, accurate, fearless. Too many passes we in the receiver's hands and they dropped them. Not as bad as Can't receivers, but still a concern.Next year he'll have an entire training camp working with the starting receivers, and get their timing down. Hopefully we'll have a better running game. But definately a nice big step up!!!
GP1
We have the makings of a GREAT quarterback. Poised, accurate, fearless.I don't disagree with your overall evaluation. However, he does need to work on his accuracy. It is the most critical aspect of being a QB because it helps receivers get extra yards running. Also, even Nolan Ryan threw a curveball or change-up every once in a while. This kid needs to work on when to throw hard and when not to throw hard.

Zipsrifle
I'm glad you guys are optimistic about the future......me, not so much. We had the #1 recruiting classes for several years.....what came of that?We won the MAC Championship in 2005 and it has been downhill from there. We have a shiny new stadium and a solid team back that is supposed to contend and we are 2-7Next year we get a new coach and we continue on our 15 year "Rebuilding" process. Here is my prediction:New coach comes in next year and we go 6-6....snubbed for a bowl.2011, we win the MAC East, lose the MACC and go to a bowl....lose the bowl.2012 we win 52013 we win 42014 we win 5 and fire our coach...Start over.Yes, we have a lot of talent, and my experience is that for some reason, the new coach does better with the "Old" coaches recruits here at Akron. JD's biggest coup was keeping Frye here for he seinor year. We were a solid contender for the MAC that season, taking it to the final game against Miami. From there it has been downhill. We have been doing all the right things as far as facilities are concerned. I hope TW can find the man for the job and start building the conference powerhouse. For me, a new coach brings another year or two of "Rebuilding" and there is a chance some of our good guys might go somewhere else in the transition. With that said, I'm behind this team until the end and hope we win out......will the day ever come when it is almost a foregone conclusion in August that we will win the Conference???? It looks like the past. Actually, you are describing most of the teams in the MAC.JD won the MAC with Getsy, Biggs and Aleman. He needed those guys to round out the team.I always thought his biggest coup was winning the MAC. I'm not sure what keeping Frye around for his senior season did for the team.If they are indeed going to rebuild for a few years, they should let us know how many years that will be so I don't have to pay attention until those years come around. If they say they are going to win next season, I'll watch next season.Nothing is ever a foregone conclusion in sports. Too many things can happen that can spin a season out of control or even make a season fall in our favor.

xu9697
The leaders of our O and D are both freshman= Nicely and Wagner. 2 of our most talented RBs are freshmem (Brod & Devoe). Our punter is a freshman. Fleming is showing some signs of being an impact player= freshman. We return 3 OL next year, and although they have not been great that USUALLY is a good thing. Sewell is back, Thomas is back. Recently our best WR has been LeFrance..he is back. Some REALLY promising WR coming in next year and some being redshirted. I think most will stay on board. We were SO CLOSE to winning against Buffalo and NIU. Forget about starting Nicely at the beginning. If Nicely would have been the starter AFTER Chris Jacq was gone, we would have 2 more wins MINIMUM. Take his lumps against IU and CMU, we win against OU and Buff. We need a coach that understands the finer points of this game and tweaks his talent better so that a team with TALENT to win 7 to 9 wins does just that!!! Yes, they were highly rated classes, but how many kids never made it to Akron? And that happened for 3 years until he finally realized he screwed up. Remember losing what, 5 scholarships? This completely killed any momentum. Hopefully our next coach learns from these mistakes, because I feel we will have a strong core for the next couple of years. we just need to build on it.And yes, I'm one of JD's biggest critics, but kudos, JD, for the win last Saturday! In fact, I've never really bought into the hysteria around JD's recruiting. It was a concern, but well down the list of problems. It doesn't jive with the current level of talent on the field. The assumption is there would be no talent on the field and that just isn't the case.JD's biggest problem is his inability to win with the talent on the field. The talent on the field is at least enough to win the MAC East. The kids that never made it to the field don't seem to have an impact on this.I hope the players keep their heads up. Help is on the way.....we hope.

The man has a difficult making decisions. Just think about our QB'earlier this season, our punters and our place kickers. I think JD has a tough time making that final decision. Dr Z
Totally new look to the team! Loved the offense and some of the play calling! Defense was just as solid as ever! I enjoy winning games too. Get a grip though, totally new look??? Looked like the same shot gun hand offs to me?I enjoyed the end of rounds, but other than Nicely improving, where is the new look? It ain't on D, while I did see a fewQB pressures, I saw a LOT of three man rush with a SOFT zone in the middle. Keith picked it apart, and that is what thisstupid 3-3-5 defense is supposed to be built for. Special teams, another missed FG, that ain't new, that's for sure. You mustbe talking about the high punts that get downed inside the 5....oh yeah, that is new. Let's take care of our last two home games this year and have a good off season. Then we can start discussing "new look".

From what I can tell he has made every decision required of him. Unfortunately, the results of some of his decisions have been disappointing. I hate the shotgun handoff that gives the running back no momentum as he starts from a standing position. The D got some fantastic pressure and other times our three man rush was an open invitation to pick us apart. They did, just not enough to matter. Credit that to the brialliant Doug Martin for not making us pay. JD and the defensive coaches should lose their jobs based on their continued support of the 3-3-5 non-defense alone. Unfortunately, there is much more support for that decision than just defense. We have too much potential to be this bad. But good Lord, I love beating K.e.n.t. Congratulations JD on that at least. ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net
I'm over the Can't State win. One win over a D-1 opponent in an entire year. The inaugural season at Infocision obliterated by this terrible team. A team that has gotten worse every year under JD. JD is reputed to be a good human being. I get that. I wish him well in life. I hope that he prospers. Just not in Akron at UA. He's been a very bad head football coach at UA. JD is Rubber Bowl quality. The program is moving along to new territory and he is not the guy to take it there. May I make a helpful suggestion JD? It's a buyer's market right now and you need every edge. Consider neutral, warm interior colors as you paint your house to prep it for sale. There isn't a lot of time before you get your walking papers and you're going to be hitting the market at the toughest time of year. Photos that go into the MLS need to be summer or fall shots to provide an image buyers can embrace. Move some of the furniture out to make the rooms look bigger and consider bringing in a "stager" since they're all the rage out there now.J.D.HAS.GOT.TO.GO.
