It is a good thing the Zips have gotten some good experience playing close games and OT games the last few weeks. Zips/Hawks in Oxford traditionally is a close afair. Last 4 down there have seen 2 OT games and 2 others decided by less than 5 points. Despite a loss at BG, Miami is playing some pretty good ball right now and Coles usually has his guys ready to play. You know their guys must have a bitter taste in their mouth from the beatdown we gave them at the JAR. After a double overtimer on Sunday, our guys HAVE to be ready to play.

Well, I was hoping to see a tv matchup on FSN after checking Mac-sports.com for the TV schedule. Apparently FSN gets to choose 3 weeks before the game who they're going to air? They chose NIU @ WMU? Seriously? On a night that includes Akron @ Miami (battle for 1st place), Ohio @ Can't State (rising squad vs co-leader) and BG @ Buffalo (Home game for team that just trounced 1st place Can't). I understand they probably have to show some MAC West games, but seriously? NIU @ WMU? How many people do they think will tune in to watch 8-16 NIU lose to 13-12 WMU? You'd think they might want some ratings out of it...

It's always tough to steal one in Oxford and I doubt if this will be an exception. This Miami team is down a notch from previous editions but still very dangerous in the darkness of Millett Hall. Channel surfing might have it. It seems that a lot of Miami games are on ONN.Akron 58Mia 55

Especially since Miami is the only team who has yet to lose a home game in conference, I'll have my fingers crossed but I have a bad feeling about this one:Miami 55Zips 52I will be more than happy to eat crow.

+1Even though we scored 20 more than them (the most important part), we struggled at the top of our offense against them in January, I would expect more of the same if nothing changes in the rotation.Interesting quote from Charlie after the last game: "I think they are well coached to get nine or ten players to play like he gets them to play. Let's face it, Chris McKnight on a lot of teams would be playing thirty minutes. If he was on my team he would never be taken out."

With the Zips up by 1 and only a few seconds remaining, one of the Redhawks will take the inbounds at about 3/4 court, turn and heave a desperation pass that seemingly travels 70 yards in the air. A Zip defender will correctly judge the trajectory of the ball, deftly placing his body in the exact spot where it lands. Unfortunately, just as he raises his arms to catch the descending object, it morphs into an oblique spheroid, careening off of his hands to MU's Kenny Hayes just behind him. Hayes lays it up and in for the horrifying win. Simultaneously far across the globe, a large bell chimes at the top of a grandiose palace.

And Charlie Coles celebrates a hard earned 29-28 victory. After the game, Coles will be quoted as saying, "I was a little concerned our offense was scoring too many points, but in reality we scored just enough."

I think the Zips depth and size present big issues for the Redskins. Fletcher simply can't play 2 positions for 40 minutes. If they had 2 Fletchers, it might be a different story, but they don't. It's a matchup that I like for the Zips. Game will be tight at the half .. maybe tight at the 10 minute mark of the second half, but Zippers come away with a 2 or 3 possession victory.Go Zips! B) B) B)

Saw the team off this morning and they all were extremely confident they'd be coming back with a W. I'll be making the trip down after class gets done...anyone else going?
well they should be extremely confident no matter who they play. if they werent there is no reason for them to be on the team or playing ball at any level.

I think this is an accurate assessment of what the score SHOULD be. It's hilarious reading over some of the posts @ Miamihawktalk.com. Many of their fans seem to have memory issues with a 20 point loss @ the JAR about a month ago as well as losing to mediocre BG team on the road. I like Akron in this one, but not to top 70...Akron 67Miami 62

That looks a little closer to what you would expect from a typical Miami game.
