Indians06
That one hurt. Must have changed his mind at the end. Least it's the only player who choose YSU over Akron. Wasn't always that way.

Changed his mind? He was behind YSU all the way as I reported from my source the other day. Ian Folmar was accepted to Akron according to my source who gave me this: http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?stor...100000020696099 Bottom line, the days of YSU losing recruits to the MAC's of the world are coming to an end. We lost out on 3 locally, Trent Toothman to Ball State, AJ Fox to Akron, and Landon Smith to Ohio. The first two were never offered by YSU and the third one de-committed from YSU after some issues with the staff.

Dave in Green
I generally don't consider the loss of a recruit to a lower level school to be much of a loss. In many cases, marginal DI players may decide they'd be better off in a prominent role at a lower level school than a minor role at a higher level school. Don't know if that's the case with this player choosing YSU over UA. But we'll see how well he does over the coming years, as well as how other UA recruits playing his position work out for the Zips. I love the Indians, but there is no way I would spew your board with lies like that. My source was laughing his ass off reading Indian06's posts boldly predicting those WGH kids to Akron. Blue & Gold
I just hope one day we can get the talent to be better than YSU annually. Is this a joke? I think you forgot to insert the " " emoticon. Honestly, the Warren RB would have been someone we were stringing along in case one of our verbals backed out at the last second. We already had landed Cody Grice & Karl Bostick, both rated higher than the Warren kid. Not to mention 4-star Nick Rossi. We had two surprises today - DE & former Iowa commit John Griggs (6-5, 260) and WR & former Penn State commit A.J. Price (6-4, 190). No offense to the Warren kid, but IF we were really going after him, it would only have been if one of these two would have reneged @ the last minute. The Warren kid will do better @ YSU's level anyway. I remember UA offering Mogadore's Chuck Moore an opportunity to walk on. He was fantastic in high school, but would have probably been simply a special team player at UA. He opted for Mount Union & was a 2-time All-American. Good decision for him, IMHO. Indians06
You can't say if YSU and Akron lined up on the football field each year we would win the majority of the time. I want us to be clearly better than YSU year in and year out. And right now, I don't think any objective college football fan can clearly say we're better than them. And this coming from someone who hates YSU. I always say, the only good thing to come out of Youngstown State if my wife. She's great  YSU got the better end on that one. Lee Adams
Lotsa people today think they know more than they actually do. I suppose if everyone was as smart at this as they think they are they wouldn't be doing what they are doing. Lets see how they PLAY. If Akron played YSU's schedule the Zips, as sad as they were, would probably be no worse than 8-4. But, then, why bother? Be nice to get YSU as our non-IA home game. Suspect that would cause the Penguins to hibernate after the blow out loss. Its easy to flap your gums when you do not have to belly up to the bar. Ianello is no soft hearted Jim Tressel. YSU would get smoked.

ZachTheZip
OL Andrew Hampton from Warren Harding was spotted on campus today making a visit. Update: Looks like Andrew will be playing for the Zips this season, possibly as a walk-on. Andrew Hampton of Harding attended the camp in 2009 and '10 and said he benefited greatly from it. "It was a great experience, a great opportunity to get good coaching and good instruction from coaches of the highest level," said Hampton, who will play football this season at the University of Akron. "The camp helped very much. It gave me an opportunity to interact with kids from other schools, kind of see what I'm up against."
