LeBron knows he's from Akron. Not Cleveland. I wish other Akronites understood as much. LeBron hasn't ever pledged to not leave Cleveland; he has continually pledged his loyalty to Akron. I don't care where he plays professionally. Neither should Akron. Let's hope LeBron moves to a place where he can win multiple championships and grow the LBJ legend/brand. That's what would be best for Akron. So LeBron may leave Cleveland. So what? Good for him. But he'll never leave home, i.e., Akron. In short: Akron is not Cleveland and Cleveland is not Akron. That should be put up on a big sign and hung over the entrance of this thing tomorrow. In Cleveland, we're thought of as just another suburb. Most people don't realize that Akron is as big as it is. They see us as another 50k town on the outskirts of their city. The problem is that a lot of Akronites see themselves as that, too. Akron is bigger than Salt Lake City, bigger than Richmond, bigger than Syracuse, Hartford, Rochester, Little Rock, Des Moines, Green Bay... But we're treated as a nothing by people in our own region. If the future of the Cavs....If the future of the City of Cleveland.....If NE Ohio......If Ohio in general.....If the future of UofA is critical to LBJ staying in Cleveland, Ohio my as well close up. LBJ has had something like five years to give something really big to UofA and he hasn't. It isn't like he has been in the poor house starting his career. He owes UofA nothing and UofA owes him nothing. If he moves on to another city, it isn't like some day he couldn't give something even if he didn't play in Cleveland. LBJ is a good guy so I don't mean this as a statement about him. The amount of people lining up to kiss his ass...from public figures (Mayor Don), business leaders (InfoCision) and many in the general public makes me sick. It makes NE Ohio look small time. I'm sure that if LBJ decides to stay, many associated with the groups above will pat themselves on the back and say their efforts had something to do with it. LBJ might even lie to make them feel good and say they had something to do with it. LBJ is going to make a business decision and all of the ass kissing in the world isn't going to influence it. Quote

LBJ has repeated and repeated and repeated, ad nauseam, his loyalty to the city of Akron. LBJ has NEVER ONCE expressed loyalty to Cleveland. He knows where he's from. He wasn't drafted by his "hometown team," i.e., he wasn't drafted by the Akron Cavaliers; he was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He has no more loyalty to Cleveland than he does to any other city with an NBA franchise. Lord have mercy, why can't even the Beacon Journal figure that simple equation out? Go win championships, LeBron. Keep bringing MVP trophies home to Akron. Quote

LBJ is a potential billionaire. Helping to construct a new facility with his name on it seems to solve a lot. There has to be a way that a new facility can benefit both parties. I would think Akron basketball would get serious talent and recognition if LBJ's name was on that new facility. Maybe a little selfish of me, but that's what I would like even if he does play for the Knicks. Quote
