* Getsey played probably his best 4 consecutive quarters of the season. It is a shame that such a performance couldn't have happened one or two times more this season.

* The defense was stellar all night long

* How the hell did OU beat Pitt? Man, Pitt must suck.

* BG and OU: Two great wins that will affect recruiting. We bump heads with those guys pretty frequently for talent.

* Please spare me the whining about the attendance. It is laughable that people sitting on their couch last night, with two able legs, can complain that the Bowl was empty.

* Furthermore, regarding attendance: Did any of you myopic attendance whiners see the radar screen yesterday afternoon? Did you see the weather forecasts? Thunderstorms. Hail. Heavy winds to 30MPH. Did you see the freaking downpour that happened all morning and into the afternoon in NE Ohio? Despite all that, and the fact that people could find the game on television or the local sports bar, and that is was held on a work/school night, 7k showed up. Yeah, it is a real shocker there weren't more people in attendance.

* I heard a rumor that the Miami/OU games has no effect on the championship tie-breaker? If Toledo beats BG, and we beat Can't, we're the champs. Can anyone else verify this?

* Great game by Biggs and the OL.

* Very very conservative playcalling in the first half. We ran middle way to frequently, when the outside was there for the taking.

* What's the deal with icing the opposing kicker when he has a dead-center 31 yarder and there's 1:50 left in the half? That extra time out sure would have been nice to have on our last drive of the half.

* Frank Solich - The Gerry Faust of the 2000's?

* No mention of the game in the PD today. Nice job, Elton.

* I hope JD goes for the jugular aginst Can't. This is a team we should beat 52-6.

Good post CK!

Attendance...I surprised there were as many people at the game as showed up. Akron did not play on Tuesday to fill the stadium, they played on Tuesday to get on TV. I wil say this though, it is nice to have an entire section to yourself. As far as the weather, it was a beautiful night for a game.

Frank Solich...This guy is in a hopeless situation at OU. If he lasts more than four years I will be shocked. Much better coach than Faust. Hell, three or four years ago the guy was in the national championship game. He was at least a qualified replacement for Osborne at Nebraska. I don't know a single person who would say Faust was a qualified replacement for the Notre Dame coach.

Icing the kicker...Your guess is as good as mine. Man, that was a bad decision. We could have used that time out to get closer before the halftime kick we missed from 47 yards.

First half play calling...As borring as the first half play calling was, I think it led to an extremely tired OU defense in the second half and we ran all over them running off tackle and up the middle. I'd like a little excitment too, but we have to look at the entire game.

Getsy...I wish this kid did not make me half poop my pants in fear every time he passes. On the whole though, he played great last night. He has earned everyone getting off his ass for a week.

CK..............

Had surgery (O/P) in the afternoon, so I had to miss the game, sorry bud.

Question for you however.............were there really 7K+ in the stands? I mean buns in the seats. Sure didn't look like it on the tube..............and man does that lighting suck. You guys didn't see this, but some of the replays were black and white, probably because of inadequate ability to get a color balance.

Now...............this has me scratching my head.......................but I just heard there's a ground swell among "the younger set ;) ", you know who I'm referring too.............to have a hell of a tailgate early on Thanksgiving morning. Maybe I was wrong about the 3K I predicted. If enough last minute cats think about this as an opportunity to have a crazy blowout and a turkey day to remember (hey UAM........there's your marketing campaing slogan.......HAVE A TURKEY DAY TO REMEMBER! START YOUR PARTY AT THE RB.............no charge for the consultation)..........whatever...............damn, these business interruptions keep making me lose my train of thought...........but you know what I was trying to say.

See you there even if we're knee deep in snow. Got to go, the press is cooling down ;)

Z-P, I was there too. There WERE 7K in that stadium last night. The camera loves to show empty seats but the home side was about 5-8 full until you got over to the band. I think 7K is a pretty close tally.

I don't think the Thanksgiving game is going to be as bad as once thought. I know our family has looked at it as an opportunity to have a different kind of thanksgiving. I'll be there with a group of around 10. Also like I've said before, after polling residence hall students to see if they would be interested in leaving the dorms open specifically so they can go to the game, the UA has decided that there is enough interest there to leave them open. I think this really is a good sign for that game. I'm probably wrong though.

I am also very curious as to how things pan out if Zips and Miami win their respective games coming up, and BG looses to Toledo. If I'm thinking right it creates this.

3 way tie atop the East with BG, Akron and Miami

-Miami owns the tie breaker over us

-We own the tie breaker of BG

-BG owns the tie breaker over Miami

I don't know how it pans out then. Anyone else wanna weigh in?

You can spin attendance any way you want but 7,000 is embarassing. People watching the game at home will see the half empty stands and get the impression that going to a Akron game sucks because there is no atmosphere. Having the stadium look at least half full would have a much better effect on the national audience last night.

I had class till 8pm and a test today otherwise I would have gone. The athletics department did a piss poor job of promoting this game. The Buchtelite showed an Ad on page 2, not page 1, in the sports section. If you want people to go see a MAC game, you have to promote the hell out of it, otherwise no one will even no it took place.

Guys, after the loss to Ball St, I came on here SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF MY KEYBOARD not to give up on the season yet because odds were still good to make the MAC Championship. Nobody responded to me, as my post was lost in all the "lost season" posts.

To put all of this in perspective, you're right CK, OHIO DOES NOT HAVE TO BEAT MIAMI FOR THE ZIPS TO MAKE THE MAC CHAMPIONSHIP!!! I don't know the details of how this works out, but, I know for a fact from a very reliable source on the team that JD called the league office Monday to get the scenario that would have to happen for the Zips to make the MACC, and apparently with BG beating Miami and BG losing to Toledo and all 3 teams ending up in a 3 way tie, in that scenario for whatever reason Akron has the tiebreaker!! It has something to do with us beating NIU, though I have no idea how to explain it. All that matter is that if Toledo beats BG, WE ARE GOING TO DETROIT!!! We should all be huge Rocket fans this week. Man, I can't believe we may very well make the MAC championship on a 5-3 record. Anyone remember the preseason predictions thread when I predicted a 3-way tie at the top of the East?? Man, I feel like a genius now B) .

7k attendance would have not changed if it were 70 and clear. History shows us that.

Here is a provident idea for you just to show I am not myopic...........When televising a Zip football game, move the cameras to visiting side so it at least looks like there are people there. If that is not an option - move the fans, band, and team to the other side of the field so the cameras see the 7k. There are no differences in the sidelines.

I would say there were no more than 4000 actual fans last night. But i think that isn't too bad considering the weather forecast and the weeknight game date. The weather couldn't have been nicer and it was the Zips most consistant performance to date. I hope we lay some big numbers on the Flushers :screwks:
