akron football
You have got to be kidding me! The defense did not show up after playing well against Syracuse. The special teams are an embarrasement. The offense played well enough to come away with a win. The coaching staff should be embarassed for not having this team ready to take on a formidable oppponent. I don't think that Coach I has any sense of urgency since he has a pass this year. When asked if this is a must win his response is it's a must improve. REALLY! I'm sure there are players on this team that wish they were elsewhere. cornbread
I know some people noticed that we kicked off both halves. You know happened? The coaches told our captains to "kick" instead of "deferring" the decision to the second half. Some background. I assume this is a mistake a head coach makes once... never to make again.... Let's see Nicely was sacked officially three times and last week three times at this rate we are looking at thirty six at the end of the season and that's not counting how many times he gets busted in the mouth and creamed running out of bounds. I don't think he signed up for that abuse. This team needs to check itself and to a gutcheck right now or just throw the towel in.

Many of the recruits at FCS programs are good enough to play in the MAC. Many MAC fans hate to admit that, but it is true. What was the crowd of that game? I watched it online, the place was empty! Some of the playaction and counter run plays were awesome today. Maybe try something that does not involve a kicking game?

scottditzen
Somebody should drag the players and this coach back to the Rubber Bowl. Let them train out there until they deserve to be on campus.
InTheZone
Somebody should drag the players and this coach back to the Rubber Bowl. Let them train out there until they deserve to be on campus. I completely agree. Let them drive to the Rubber Bowl everyday after class and lifting, dress in that smelly shithole, and then hike a mile down the road to the practice fields where you spend half of practice looking at your feet trying to make sure you don't step in a hole and break your ankle. These guys practice in cushy facilities, pretend to lift in an perfectly air conditioned, clean and shiny weightroom, and make sure they cash their scholarship checks before they head out to the field on Saturday to not give a shit and embarrass their school and alumni. akronad
OK, I havn't listened to the radio, read any news reports or read any other posts on ZNO. I wanted to wait until this morning when my head wasn't swimming. If, I'm repeating anything that has already been posted, my humblest apologies. ICoach is in over his head.It began at the coin toss when we chose to kick after winning the toss. After it was announced ICoach was in a heated discussion with the officials. I'm sure he wasnted the captains to defer, but they chose to kick. On third and 1 in the first quarter he calls for a pass when the running game was working. What's up with that? Where our seats are located, we have excellent look at the Zips sideline. If all remeber, the first time-out called in each half was called by ICoach as he was sprinting down the sideline to the official. In the 1st half, 2 plays later GW scored and in the 2nd half it was the play immediately after the time out that GW scored. At the start of the 4th quarter, I turned to my wife and told her that we going to lose. The body language of most of the players showed that they were a defeated team. On a bit of a seperate area, the officials s****d. Where were these guys from? Any college football fan knows that they cannot review a call on forward motion. Yes, we got screwed on that call. We will be lucky to win a game this season. And we will be very lucky to reach that magical 15,000 mark for attendance as dictated by the NCAA. I will be there Oct.2 and still cheer on the Zips. I would agree if we were still at the Rubber Bowl. The Info is a great place to tailgate, catch a game, be near downtown, etc. Whatever happens the rest of the way we've got that. I will agree with the tone of recent GP1 posts here, in that the MAC needs to figure out, and soon, what it wants to be. In 2010, this is a D-1 FBS conference in name only. Where are we headed, Mr. MAC Commissioner? Also, for Luis Proenza, where do you envision this program? It's entirely possible that the building of new facilities was accomplished with no connection to larger-better program intentions of any kind on the part of administrators. Who says a FCS or even D-II program can't play in a 30,000 seat stadium?
