MontrealExposloveZippy
I just want to remind everyone that the Youngstown State PENGUINS beat Butler this year and I think that is pretty hilarious. So, Go PENGUINS! But seriously Go Butler! A Horizon team making it BACK to the National Championship is incredible and only does wonders for all the mid-majors out there. bandzip
Well, using that logic... Akron beat Can't who beat Ohio who beat Marshall who beat West Virginia who beat UConn. Akron also beat Youngstown who beat Butler. Looks like we're National Champs regardless of who wins tonight.
eguins
YSU Boards: LetsGoGuins.com YSUPenguins.com YSU is riding high right now on our 62-60 win over the Bulldogs, Butler's last lost. It is worth noting that it was not a one time fluke. YSU was tied 79-79 into the final minute against Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse in January as well before Butler won 84-79. We shall see if this translates into better recruits for YSU... time will tell. Sounds as though we may be landing Ricky Johnson Jr. out of Akron SVSM. I know he is small, but he is a fabulous PG. Is this kid as good as I hear he is?

Is this kid as good as I hear he is? Ummm...probably not. Look at the rafters of Beeghley Center. There isn't one men's basketball-related banner of any sort. I'm glad Penguin Guy is high from sniffing the coat-tails of a Bulldog, but let's be real...Youngstown couldn''t produce a decent basketball player, or team, if given a billion pounds of oily penguin food for a billion years. Please post more links to a team that would need to win 10 more games to get a CBI bid.

I can tell you we didn't recruit him. So there's really no reason to follow the kid. You might want to try an Akron High School web site. Losers blow games. Winners win them. YSU basketball is a perennial loser. Ricky Johnson Jr. ain't gonna change it. To paraphrase the great ZipsWin!, YSU bringing in new basketball recruits each season is pretty much akin to rearranging chairs on the Titanic. My advice -- Cut your basketball program and use the money to move up to D1-A football.

Ricky had a great freshman season. His development after that season never continued to progress. High majors were on him early. Akron was on him early. As he failed to live up to expectations his "stock" continued to drop. Low majors like YSU are his best bet or better for him a division two program. Ricky could be a diamond in the rough. No mid to high major program seems willing to take the chance. Example, Akron has signed a pair of guards that are far above Ricky's demonstrated abilities. At least YSU is close enough that he can get home on weekends for his mother to wash his clothes.

Prior to that, we were told he had the following offers: Ricky Johnson Jr. (5'9/2011) of Akron SVSM listed offers from Akron, Can't State, Lehigh, Robert Morris, Navy, and Bucknell. We were told these schools stopped recruiting him after his commitment to Lehigh.

And if it weren't for the new stadium and President Proenza's commitment to D-IA football at UA, I'd say we should move down to I-AA. It just struck me as odd for a Zips fan to think in terms of bringing up CSU's win over the Zips soccer team in this thread. Then again, this thread is loaded with sarcasm, so there's probably nothing here to be taken seriously by anyone.

Dave in Green
I get it. It's always fun to make fun of the A beat B, and B beat the national champion logic. It just takes a little of the fun out of it to be reminded of the Zips painful loss to CSU. Then again, it's another reminder that the soccer Zips are
