Blue & Gold
Personally, I'd like to see them use the Z logo more. I think it's cool that we're one of the few schools at any level to have a nickname with a Z, I think it may be a good idea to play that up...kind of like Xavier does with their X. Anyway, since this thread is about uniforms, here's a sample of a white helmet with the Z logo. Oooooh! Would there be a stripe on that helmet? Can't tell from the rendering. (I prefer helmets without stripes.)
UAZips
There could be, but I prefer non striped helmets as well.
Zipmeister
Be prepared for people to make comments like "Zakron?" And watch out for a lawsuit brought by the Air Force Academy. Just saying.
UAZips
Like people already don't make stupid comments about crAkron? Or any other schools for that matter? And I really don't think the Z looks anything like the Air Force bolt (which by the way, is a really nice helmet in it's own right)

Doug Snyder
Lots of MAC schools have rebranded...some good like EMU and some terrible like Miamioh.. EMU and Miami rebranded because the American Indians they used in thier name requested they stop. Stanford and many other schools did the same. It was a "political correctness" issue and not a real rebranding.

Anyway, since this thread is about uniforms, here's a sample of a white helmet with the Z logo. Very well done. See, in the hands of the right designer, it can all come together. Think about it, we already have the Z-Fund. We could have the Z-Town Dance Team dance during timeouts at BB games. We could have Z-Town Kids Fest before football games with things for kids to play on. One letter, so many possibilities. If we are going to be the Zips, let's do the best with what we have. Get away from Akron and stick with a nickname. I don't see anything on the Boise State uniform that says "Boise State" except for the back where the names will be an not Boise State...it says Broncos. The helmet has a bronco on it. The pants say broncos.
Dr Z
ESPN Source Keeping track of college football helmets used to be simple. Every team had one helmet design, except for Washington State, which had separate designs for home and road games, and that was that. Those days are gone. With more and more schools taking their cues from Oregon, the idea of having multiple helmet looks is catching on. And even if the helmet's basic shell color stays the same, you can swap in a new face mask color, a new logo decal, a new center-stripe pattern. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination • You know what Bowling Green really needed? If you answered, "a crazy number font and some stripes on the back of the pant legs," then you're in luck. Meanwhile, the helmet now has a new logo, a brown face mask, and a tapered stripe. You can see how all of this looks on the field in this video clip. • Buffalo is going with a simpler look this year. Seems like an improvement, except for those armpit stains panels. • Ohio is slated to wear a helmet decal in memory of former player Marcellis Williamson, who died in April. • Temple is going back to the outline "T" helmet logo, same as the one they wore from 1989-95 and 2004-06. • Western Michigan's helmet now has a big "W." Johnny Utah
Dr. Z...ya beat me to the punch! I live in the Tampa Bay area and have season tickets to South Florida (USF). There's been much discussion in this thread about multiple helmet designs. I love the combinations that USF has...and would love to see us have something like this! Now...if you want over the top. Check out the Maryland uniforms. They've got some really ugly color jersey/pants combinations too.
akzipper
Had to bring this back up, since I found a cool graphic online. I'm in no way taking credit for this. But these are by far the best Zips uniforms I've seen designed. Glad that we have some talented Zips fans! Gotta love the 3 different helmets, 3 jerseys, and 3 pants. Really giving us a lot of combos, like Oregon and Maryland. Maybe if we had worn something sick like this we would have scared OSU off the field haha

Dr Z
It took us 5 threads about uniforms, but I think we finally have a winner. Nice work whoever did it. Next we should come up with an offensive playbook that can win us some games to with the uniforms.
Zips Win!
Link I'd like to see the Zips change up their uniforms to something more 21st Century. I love blue and gold, but would like to see a more creative uniform like Boise State has moved to. Any thoughts? If only we had Nike to pay for these, I'm all for it..... LeBron gives us some shoes....Big wup!!!!

Blue & Gold
The only caution I'd have is that these modern uniforms may be just a trend and look out-of-style in a couple of years, whereas you can't go wrong w/ a classic uniform. But there's no reason we couldn't switch back to something more traditional if that is indeed the case in a couple of years. On the other hand, these modern uniforms may indeed be the uniforms of the future & pretty soon anyone under 30 will think the old classics just look boooooooring & unoriginal. Blue & Gold
Interesting article here. A high school senior basketball recruit eliminated Baylor from consideration because he doesn't like their uniforms (more specifically, their colors and affiliation w/ adidas). I did not read the article in it's entirerty, but I believe the author's spin is that this is a whack decision. However, I'd be willing to bet that colors & uniform design are a lot more important to many 15-17 year-olds than we adults would believe.
