It's never too early to begin the 2011-2012 Men's Basketball schedule thread. MAC Sports has the OC schedule but I'm more interested in the OOC schedule. Here's the 'few' dates that I have:

11/28 @ West Virginia

12/19 @ Youngstown State

12/29 VCU

If anyone else has dates, please update this thread. (FYI..these dates were validated on the team websites.)

The schedule should be released any day now.

The hold up has been trying to get a game for December 3rd.

Other than that, the schedule is completed.

By the way, the non-Division one opponent is ..... Hiram. (gag) :puke:

Cleveland State, Duquense, Valpo, Mississippi State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff

are a few more of the OOC games.

If Hiram is part of the preseason, fine. However, I don't like it at all if it is a regular season game. We couldn't even find a Division II program to play?

Otherwise, a, dare I say, Fair and Balanced?, schedule that will prepare us for the conference and post-season.

Good job, KD.

Good job, KD.

trimmy, The Hiram game is part of the regular season.

It is scheduled as the second game of the season right after the

team gets home from Mississippi.

The preseason exhibition game is against John Carroll.

When I asked "why Hiram"? I was told to look up Marion (Ind.) College.

Last year or recently they nearly beat Butler. Butler is playing them

again this year. Remember Findlay taking down the mighty Suckeyes?

Thad Matta does.

Coaches lose jobs losing these filler games.

The Hiram game will allow the coaches to fix problems discovered at

Mississippi State.

The preseason is for training. Your citing Marion and Findlay seems to indicate we have a lot to lose and very little to gain. Again, why Hiram?

I wasn't being sarcastic about liking every other game on the OOC schedule either. Even YSU and Duquesne are good match-ups for local interest.

Schedule doesn't really seem like it will be much of a departure from the last two years.

Take two good, but still reasonably beatable power-six conference teams on the road.

Add in a neutral site tournament.

Try to grab as many solid mid-majors as you can.

Throw in enough cupcakes to make sure that the guys aren't getting to beat up.

Finish it all off with an opponent from a much lower division that will be severely overmatched and virtually assure a lopsided home victory in front of an empty and apathetic JAR.

The last few schedules have been better than what we used to have, but there is still room for improvement. I don't ever want to see us go to the Miami style guantlet schedule, but if we are going to get on the map in the last two years of the Zeke-era and with all the talent we seem to have, we need to give ourselves more than one or two chances to score some noticeable upsets in the OOC schedule.

You're an old fart, right?

Remember when Hiram almost took down Bob Huggins' Zips at the JAR? It was something like 56-55? Terriers were led by the Fabry brothers from Windham, who stroked a bunch of 3's against the listless Zips.

Yes, I remember that near disaster.

Sniff, sniff. Old, yes; fart, no. That's Ben-Gay you smell.

Back to back Ken+ games in March are going to be brutal.
I could be wrong, but I think that we are going to play them on one of those dates, not both of them. Probably depends on which day ESPN prefers.

The back to back games at Can't State is unfortunate, but offsetting this is the fact that the opening round game of the MAC tourney as well as the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Champiolnship game are all shown (in bold) as home games. There is a typo, however, indicating these home games will be played in Cleveland.

It should really help our RPI?I heard KD wanted to beat them 3 times in their place in a single season, but Senderoff would only agree to two.
If I were him I would only agree to two too.

I'm assuming the 2K Sports Classic is where the Zips are supposed to meet Mississippi State, as they're one of the host teams along with Arizona, St. Johns and Texas A&M. Those four teams are automatically in the championship rounds at Madison Square Garden regardless of what the Zips or any other team does during the preliminaries. The 2K Sports Classic is brought to you by the same folks who promote the CBI -- the Gazelle Group. The format is pretty funky with the four host teams playing two each of eight other teams on the first two dates, then the eight other teams are divided into a pair of four-team subregionals where each team plays three games against each other while the four host teams move on to MSG for the championship rounds.Last season, Toledo hosted one of the two subregionals, and played against Charleston, Illinois-Chicago and Rhode Island, losing to all three at home. While the 2011 schedule isn't yet posted, you can see how how it works by going to the 2K Sports Classic website and clicking on 2010 Tournament Bracket near the top of the main page:2K Sports Classic
