ZachTheZip Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 http://t.co/eXvMOisLook at his progression from year to year, and where the program was before he arrived. I think its more than fair to hold Ianello to a similar standard. Quote

The article does a good job of illustrating just how big of a rebuilding job Paul faced when taking over at Wayne St.I’ve said it earlier. This is a huge season (and a huge game on Saturday) for Paul. His Warriors have struggled a bit in the past to close out the big games. They’ll need to get past that to win the GLIAC and go far in the D-2 playoffs. Quote
zip37 Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Agreed, and someone [can't remember who] told me J. Dennison called T.W. and pratically begged him to hire P.W.. And so, another golden oportunity to end the curse of Jim Dennison went by the boards. How many more screw-ups will occur before the football program is back to where it was in the 60s & 70s? Quote

Which may not be that far away, given current trends. Quote

If Louie Pro doesn't mandate a coach with previous head coaching experience be hired, then there will be no hope. It will take Proenza to dictate the next hire. Quote
Zipmeister Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 How to turn last season into a winning one? Have Rod Beard write about it."The then-Tartars posted three winning seasons during the '80s and two during the '90s, including an 0-11 mark in 1999" Quote

But, I'm glad he's doing better, and wish him the best of luck as a former Zip. When I see D-1A schools start clamoring for his services, maybe I'll change my mind. Quote
zip37 Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 For those that don't/won't remember: in the 60s & 70s the U of A were often nationally ranked in the Division it played in, and competed quite succssfully against MAC teams, so what's to blow off there? Success is success at any level. Quote
Big Zip Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 One thing to note about Paul was at least he coached the offense here. He was a top coordinator not a wide receiver coach. He also was quite successful when he was here. His offenses were awesome and we certainly didn't lose because of his offenses. Quote

Warts and all.Agreed.It's one thing to lose 42-35. It's another thing to lose 41-3. Nobody likes to lose, but people do want to be excited. Give the masses some support and they will be excited. Give them nothing and we will see 500 people per game. Quote
