While the post season could certainly skew the results, I think you can make a pretty good argument for each of the choices above:

Zeke - Leading scorer and intimidating defensive presence

Nik - Second leading scorer and leading rebounder

Alex - Third leading scorer, top assist man, the engine that made the Zips go

Brian - Leading 3 pointer shooter (by far), good ball handler, terrific rebounding guard

Quincy - Most versatile player on the team, good scorer, good defender

Tree - by request :)

I lost too much respect for Alex when he stood at midcourt during the OU game and let a fast break run by him. And then he argued with Keith about it. He serioiusly needs to cut down on the number of unmakable circus shots in the paint, but he made much better decisions against Ken+.

I have to be honest. I can't vote on this. Way too many guys making key contributions at many different times this year.

Let me edit my post:

Could you put Treadwell on the list of candiates? Would anyone vote for him? He's averaging over 5 reb. per game playing 16 minutes. At 1 rebound every 3 minutes, he's way ahead of anyone else. He's certainly been huge for us in that respect.

Are you running for office? You sound like a politician.

By the way, going forward, I think we will see a lot from Walsh. He is a true major-major player, and I still can't believe we got him. The way he flies through the air for bounds and hits off balance layups is something we rarely see at Akron. And he has good basketball sense, making few mistakes.

He will probably be our MVP before he graduates, and depending on minutes, will probably make all-MAC. He and Tree both have huge talent, the difference right now is that he has his under control and plays to the max, Tree still needs more basketball experience. At times he looks awkward and out of place - and at other times he looks like NBA material. His development, paired with what Walsh can show now, should give us a couple more great years.

I had to go with Alex. He is our most complete player.
MCP or MVP?

I guess MVP depends on what your definition is? I always thought it to be the player that the team would be much worse off without. What if we didn't have this guy for this season? Our record would be much worse because he makes the team that much better. A lot of times I think teams don't even have an MVP. Sometimes I think the LVP means more to a teams failure than the MVP does to it's success. You are only as strong as the weakest person on your team theory. Payton Manning is the MVP of the Colts, this past year proved that. Is there a Payton Manning on this team?

I think individual awards are pretty silly in a team sport anyway. Would player (A) be so good if player B didn't (shoot, block, steal, defend, etc). That goes for the silly COY "award" too. How would you really know unless KD went and coached EMU? Would EMU be better, or worse?

I voted Zeke. I was going AA, but in the end, just had to go w/ the Big Fella. Watching Zeke has been educational for me. I'm really starting to be able to see how he gets into everyone's heads on the floor and even if he doesn't block a shot, he really does, like Momma Zeke has witnessed for years, change the entire complexion & strategy of the game. I don't know how many times this year that I've watched one of our guards get beat off the dribble on the perimeter, only to watch the penetrating guard, hesitate, pull the ball back out, throw up a pathetic attempt at a shot, or simply pee down his leg when he sees Zeke rotating down.

He's hustled his ass off all season. With knee surgery in late-December, he returned to action ahead of schedule so the Zips had a shot at beating VCU...we had absolutely no chance without him. He's a solid 3-point shooter, and always comes up with big steals.

Abreu has been been a warrior all season. I've only gained respect for his game as the season's progressed.

As I read your post, I heard the distinct sound of a nail being hit squarely and forcefully upon the head.

+1
