Bubba4three
This is homecoming for Ohio, and barring rain this should rank #1 in all-time attendance at Peden with the Bobcats sitting at 6-0 and #26 in the AP Poll. 25,000 isn't unreasonable at all. Ohio has struggled the last 2 weeks with serious injuries on defense and QB Tettleton not being 100%. The defense is going to be hurt for awhile, with serious depth issues in the secondary. Fortunately our offense is probably good enough to outscore most of the MAC by a lot when healthy.. Tettleton hasn't done any designed runs the last 2 weeks, hopefully he is able to run this week or Ohio could have another thriller in front of a crazy crowd. Captain Kangaroo
I recall a pretty bad Zips team beating the #25 ranked team in the nation...it seems like only yesterday... If OU's secondary is as banged up as it appears, I like our chances. Williams can carve-up a suspect defensive backfield. Hope Caponi and/or Pressley is a "go." That will make a big difference. skip-zip
Hey Bubba, You're not worried about someone scoring points against you, and you have a depleted secondary? Have you been hiding under a rock, and haven't noticed some of the monster passing numbers we've been putting up this year?
Bubba4three
You're not worried about someone scoring points against you, and you have a depleted secondary? Where did I say I'm not worried about someone scoring points? I said "hopefully he is able to run this week or Ohio could have another thriller in front of a crazy crowd." I think anyone with a college degree (from a real school) could assume that means I think we will give up some points but also that I feel we can score even more if Tettleton is good to go. Yes, a degree from a horrible school like Akron and a 30+ year business career makes me pretty stupid. I'm referring to your statement where you feel pretty confident that you can outscore anyone in a shootout-type game. Just want to make sure you were aware of some of our monster passing performances this year. Relax, and go hit your bong again. That would create a far more reliable picture of OU than a reference to your self-perceived academic greatness.

Another is that upstanding individuals like myself will be in Akron's players heads all game after a nice morning spent enjoying malt beverages at Uptown Athens establishments discussing the finer points of a quality degree in business from a respected institution of higher education. First there is no Uptown Athens, unless you mean Uphill. Second, if 87,000 rednecks didn't rattle Akron, 25,000 yuppies aren't going to rattle Akron. Third, its nice that you will be sitting in the Akron fan section.
72 Roo
Hate to rain on the love-fest for the Zips in this thread but Ohio is a team we all would love to have at our university. The Zips will get beat no matter how bad the Ohio secondary is. Talk all the smack and bravado you want, but Ohio is the far better team. We have to live for the proverbial next year. zipsfan33
I dont think there is any doubt that Ohio is the better team with or without injuries. However, what makes the boards fun is cheering for our teams. i am not going to stoop to making fun of anyone or any team, but I will always root for my Zips no matter who they are up against. Even if they are playing Goliath... oh wait...

jeaglet1
I'm glad I don't base my opinion of all Ohio fans on those who post here. (Just like I'm glad I didn't use a small sample of Akron fans to gauge Zips fans before I started posting here) I see Ohio wearing down the Zips defense. I was surprised to see the Bobcats are down 7 players for the year (including 3 starting DBs) plus at least another 3 players for this Saturday. skip-zip
Far better? 373 passing yards and over 500 yards of total offense? From UMass? Even before OUs recent defensive injuries, our staff and players had to be licking their chops thinking about the possibilities with our offense vs. their defense. If our OL can rebound from its butt-whipping in the 2nd half of last week's game, and play as solid as they have for the better part of 2012, I like our chances. W/o Pressley and Caponi, we will give up points and yards. But Williams will shred a depleted OU secondary...if he doesn't get snowed-under. OZoner
I dunno, guys, Ohio hasn't crapped the bed on Homecoming in almost a year. How can you stop such a streak?
NewZipsFan
What Ohio does SOOOO well, is NOT lose. They have managed to pull out W's all year - and a team that knows how to WIN is very, very dangerous. Yes - I like our chances to score a lot of points on their Defense. But obviously we are very depleted on an already thin defense. What I also know - is that every player who takes the field on Saturday for the Zips will be playing with 100% intensity and effort -- and will know his assignments/be ready to play. Realize how many true freshmen we will play - (and have already been playing) - and hopefully the "future" starts on Saturday! Go Zips! Beat the Bobcats!! And on the flip side, a team with a recent history of not playing well for 4 quarters tells me that they are beatable. For God's sake, this is the MAC. OU has two single-digit wins against teams that appear to be on our level, and likely won't even contend for a division title. I'll take that kind of matchup any day right now. MDZip
I think I have given the Bobcats too much credit. I went back and looked at their undefeated record and this Bobcats team also could be a bit of a mirage and could easily crap the bed with any of their remaining games. So far they have played probably the two weakest teams in the East (Umass and Buffalo) and both were close, they beat a Penn State team in one of the all time weird situations (I'd like to see them play again now), beat a bad 1-AA team (Norfolk State), a team who's only win was over a 1-AA team (New Mexico State) and a poor Marshall team (who's beaten only a 1-AA and Rice who is terrible this year). Only the Penn State win is impressive at all and as I said that was in fairly suspect circumstances. If they win the East, it will probably be due to also having a very weak West schedule (Ball State and EMU only). This is no juggernaut team, they are going to get a couple of losses along the way. A good day by the Zips and they could be one of those teams.
