I think you're right. I've been considering changing my username for a while now. While Akron/Can't is still a rivalry, OU has some of the most retarded fans I've come across in the MAC. I truly feel sorry for the few reasonable OhioU fans out there, because the overwhelming majority that I've come across(in person and online) were absolute boneheads.

Oh calm down Zippys. I come on here to mess with Akron fans. Damn good team and I am worried about Saturday. Will be a very good game. How do I use subpar english though?

Will be a good game isn't even a sentence. You need a subject. Do you need more?

Now you are being nit picky. This is a forum. I use shortened sentences.

I know us Akron folks need short (incomplete) sentences. But we would appreciate if our sophisticated OU fans would teach us proper English. ...

Then Brag about all their MAC football titles (zero) ....

Then brag about how they are superior in basketball based on last year (when they split with Akron in the regular season, and it took OT to beat that same team in the MAC tourney).

All I was able to find was a podcast from some guy who said that ESPN decided at the last minute to put the announcement off a week. At this hour on Monday night, it's pretty obvious it's not going to happen today. Hey, it's the last year of BracketBusters, anyway. It's not like they have to be serious about it or anything. It will allow time for the UA-OU results to sink in.

First off, using "retarded" as a derogatory slam in very poor taste. I know people who have mentally challenged friends and relatives who would find that very offensive, not to mention it sounds extremely sophomoric. Sorry, it's become a pet peeve of mine.

Second, I always laugh when this topic of fan base vs fan base comes up (not necessarily these two specifically, but just in general). In this thread alone someone tells the troll to stop acting like his school is so much better, then others turn around and do the same thing in reverse. I have met just as many bad fans from Akron as Ohio, Buffalo, BG, etc... I'll admit, my first few experiences at Akron games were not enjoyable ones due to some boneheaded fans. If I had let the minority speak for the majority, I'd have never come to the JAR again, even if my wife is an alum. Let's just all agree trolls are everywhere and they shouldn't be fed. (This isn't directed at anyone specifically, just a general observation.)

On the topic of this thread, I think as of right now it would be Eastern Kentucky. Maybe one of the Dakotas or Iona. After Creighton (repeat match up), the selection is pretty thin for road teams. Simply looking at the numbers its a much better year to be a road team as they will almost certainly get to play a team with a higher RPI. They way things worked out have really hurt Wichita St. and Akron. The next grouping of road teams all have higher RPIs than Akron, hovering between 66 and 85. Two wins this week would probably vault Akron to the #3 home team (behind Belmont and Wichita St.). Unfortunetly, that would mean a match up from the same group of teams.

Top Road Teams (RPI from RPIforecast.com):

Creighton (29) - Pretty much locked into a game @ Belmont on ESPN, plus they've already played Akron. Two 200+ games before the match ups are announced.

North Dakota St. (59) - Coming off back to back losses to Western Illinois (133) and SD St. (60). Plays #278 & 240 this week, with no top 100 RPI games remaining and only 2 in the top 200. Have to wonder what their RPI will end up being with so many bad teams left, especially if they slip and lose just once.

South Dakota St. (60) - Also play #240 and #278 this week, with no top 100 RPI games remaining and only 2 in the top 200. Same concerns as ND St. At least they did win at New Mexico and I believe have Nate Wolters who had a good tourney a few years ago.

Eastern Kentucky (76) - They play #309 and #243 this week. They already played Belmont twice, and have 1 top 100 game (Tennessee St.) and two more top 200 games left. They did win their only game against Murray St. this year (on the road).

Stephen F Austin (77) - Play 250 and 321 this week. They have 2 top 100 and 8 250 + games left. Not much room for improvement.

Detroit (86) - They play 142 & 169 this week. Only 2 games outside the top 200 remaining. This should help them maintain / improve their RPI from where they currently sit. A good match up for a team who hasn't played them yet.

Iona (95) - They play 120 and 137 this week. Only 3 games outside the top 150 left. Also in first place in their league. Could be a good opponent if their RPI keeps climbing.

The only other road team currently under 100 in the RPI is Ohio. I would be pretty ticked if Akron didn't play one of the teams above. This event is really suffering without the CAA this year.

.

If an Akron fan tried to post the same type of troll messages OU fans post on ZN.o on bobkittyattack, they mods would delete them the minute they saw them.

#MAACtion. :) I still hold out faint hope that the Zips could stil be considered for an at-large with the MTSU win and a good one here but I don't think Iona would do it. He metions they are both sub-100 RPI, yeah, but the Zips are at 68 and the Gaels are 99. Either Dakota, both of whom are right with us in RPI. Makes it fair for both.

The win against WMU is considered a quality victory as well. Victory(ies) against Ohio would certainly count. Potential games against WMU and Ohio in the MAC Tournament would help. We have potential for as many as 6 top-100 RPI wins if we don't win the MACC. Pretty good, but still likely not good enough for an at-large NCAA bid, IMO. That loss to Coastal Caroina really hurts.

There are still a few games going on that could affect the Zips' RPI somewhat. But so far tonight, the Zips' win plus other results (Oklahoma State over Kansas, etc.) has resulted in the Zips jumping up to #53 and ahead of St. Mary's at #61. So the Zips are now the 3rd highest ranked home team behind Belmont and Wichita State. That plus the longest current winning streak in the country should help the Zips get a good opponent and a prime TV game.

A quick look at the RPIFORECAST.com site shows that Akron, Ohio and Western Michigan all have RPI's under 100.

Thus, it is likely that three MAC teams will get prime time television.

Some how, I can not believe that ESPN is going to allow that to happen. They are, after all, a strange clump of ducks.

On ESPN Any Katz just said the Dambrot told him he was willing to switch and go on the road for the bracket buster if it meant we got a better game.

Love it. Anybody, anywhere, anytime. That is the attitude this team needs to have. Having a home date this year isn't going to add that much to the bottom line, and it will do nothing in terms of slim at-large opportunity, or even seeding opportunity. Let's go on the road, get a game with either Wichita State or St. Mary's and use it as a chance to enhance this team's national profile even more.

The marketing department already hit a home run with the pub on the @ZipsMBB jersey promotion. Let's hit another one. Give up a home game in order to get the best matchup this team deserves. Since Katz and KD already discussed it, imagine the pub ESPN will give Akron if they give up a home game to face better competition (lets not forget ESPN runs this event, and not out of charity). This is another opportunity for the program to strike.

Make it happen.

And it's not like Akron wouldn't still have a future home date banked. Already have the ORU one, lets get another future home date against a Wichita State or St. Mary's. But for this year, this team deserves the best opportunity, even if it's on the road. Then the future teams (and university) will still get a home game for money purposes. But for now, this is the year, the school has to do whatever is possible to put this team in the best position to make a run happen. Even if they go to Wichita (for example) and lose, there is still always Cleveland. That is all that "really" matters anyway, right? Going on the road, this year, is a no-lose situation. ... and a potential big-win.

Agreed. IMO, a win at home against a 75+ RPI team does nothing for us and a loss, God forbid, kills us. Go on the road, play a quality opponent, and, win or lose, it's only beneficial. In addition to the above quoted teams, I'd take Indiana St.

Love the talk, but it'll never happen. This home game has been paid for by every season ticket holder, as well as I'm sure a few extra single seats. We just have to sit back and hope for the best. We certainly did the best we could up to this point, and a 14 point win over the 2nd best team in the MAC on national TV two days before won't hurt one bit.
