Spin
According to 1350's Big Show, Tress is interviewing with the Browns this weekend. IDK how he would relate to NFL players, or how his system would work in the NFL. He would move the needle with the lost fanbase though. But that is a very bad job if you want security. A prez and owner with an itchy trigger finger, and a roster with no QB or RB. I don't think Tress makes that move, depending on how his future looks at the U and how bad he really wants to coach and rebuild his rep. I don't think that's a good fit for either. So obviously, it'll happen.

ZachTheZip
The Browns front office wants a "yes man" for their next head coach. Chud didn't get along well with Lombardi (I can't blame him), and had different ideas about how to use the talent he had. I don't think Tressel would want to work in that kind of environment. The Browns front office is even more incompetent than they were under the Lerners.
LZIp
My bet is Mcdaniels. Frankly, it's getting kind of old hearing Tressel's name pop up every single time there is a coaching opening. Truly believe the guy is done.

Whether or not he gets the Browns' job he wasn't going to be doing what he is doing now very much longer. He IS A FOOTBALL COACH. Actually it doesn't really seem to mean much for the football program either way. Especially IF Bowden continues his progression. My concern is with Wistrcill and how much longer he will infect the program.

zippy5
Don't blame McDaniels. Probably has one shot left at a HC gig.. why waste it on Cleveland? He's got two young kids, no sense in risking being fired in a year.

NFL owners hire one retread dunce after another to be head coaches or coordinators. He will have plenty of opportunities. However, you are right, why even take a job with a horrible franchise. Two young kids? Who cares? The guy would have millions. Sooner or later, they are going to have to move. NFL coaches families get used to the moving and millions of dollars help to make a family happy.

Dr Z
Podcast of interviewThanks for posting. Good interview..."It will be an interesting time in the next few weeks, I wouldn't count anything out" -James Patrick He reminds me of a politician the way he answers questions. I hope he gets the job he desires, as long as it isn't in western PA.

Dr Z
Tressel isn't at Akron to be 'an ornament' As of last week, the university said it had received 48% more freshman applications than it had at this point last year. Dr. Proenza tried to hire him as the University of Akron's next football coach, though Mr. Tressel was more interested in the academic side of the house. To boost that number, Mr. Tressel began recruiting so-called “encouragers” to assist the university's advising team in aggressively reaching out to at-risk students. At present, the university has about 18 encouragers and plans to add five more this semester. He launched similar programs while coaching at Youngstown State and Ohio State. At the same time, he has helped recruit more than 700 people for the Roo Crew, a group designed to connect alumni and others in the university community with students to help with job placement. No mention of funds for a basketball arena. Disappointed the question wasn't asked. Mary Kay Cabot (one of the best in the biz) writes James Patrick is too old to be the Browns coach.
