Dr Z
Thanks for posting. Nice interview. I enjoy listening to coach, even Rizz can't mess it up. Coach talked about Dri Archer's run for heisman, saying it's a popularity contest, and we are not that popular in the MAC. Here is a small article and an interview with Dri. Hopefully our revamped defensive line will have more success against Dri this year. Nobody but Ken+ recruited Dri. Funny that coach Bowden joked with Dri about leaving early last year. Dri says he submitted to NFL and they come back with 4th round or later, possible undrafted free agent. Seems like a nice kid.

Dr Z
Terry Bowden to be on KNR2 between 8-9 AM with Munch in the MorningInterviewers treated coach pretty well, seemed like they knew there stuff about the team and what was going on. Didn't really learn anything that hasn't been posted on ZN already. Brent Dustburger spoke to the team yesterday and told them if they beat UCF on a Thursday, they would talk up the Zips on the national Saturday broadcast. "if you're a youngster in Akron, start getting the football out and throw it around the backyard with pop."

Seems like a nice kid.Since this is the last place Archer was talked about, I'll post here. He doesn't have his own thread yet. For those that like, or follow Mel Kiper, he is now listing Dri as the 6th best back in the country. Kiper also claims that he made a mistake not leaving last year contrary to what Dri "heard" from the NFL. Looking forward to the matchup on November 2nd. Sports Illustrated writes about his comic strip (change the url to ken+) which debuted @Dri4Heisman. ESPN too (same change on the url) Archer's comic strip is being drawn by Chuck Ayers, a Ken+ State alum known for illustrating the "Funky Winkerbean'' and "Crankshaft'' cartoons. Ayers was approached by the school's athletic department to assist in promoting Archer and he was happy to help a fellow Golden Flash. Cartoon found here. But Bowden seems pretty pumped about our D front 7 right now. Can't wait for the game! I remember Ianello's second year, the game was so uncompetitive that K-ent fans didn't even seem to enjoy their blowout victory. It's almost as if everyone, on both sides, were puzzled at how a college football team could possibly be so bad.
mes102
I went to the red carpet event for the movie UNDERDOGS tonight, and during the movie, Akron football and Coach Bowden was mentioned. AND while the credits were running, it was showing players wearing Akron football shirts during a cookout. Well done, Coach Bowden and the athletic department! well done!!! They even had the starring role of the QB of Aquinas say "I know they have a good football program there, but..." during the movie... For an independent film, it was really good! The Akron mentions in the movie was icing on the cake!!
