Love it. IMO, Stoops is one of the most overrated coaches this decade. Just look at OU's record in bowl games the past decade. They have trouble winning outside their conference.

Still have a whole season between now and then for TB to improve the program. Prime opportunity for an upset.

What? Stoops has a championship, has gone to 8 BCS games, won 80% of his games, 7 bowl victories, 8 conference championships....

Boy, I wish we had a coach that overrated.

I hope that they are getting moe than 900k(Michigan) for this one :thumb:

Zips to head west to face Sooners in 2015

By George Thomas Published: November 7, 2013

Oklahoma announced that it has added Akron to its non-conference schedule for 2015. The Sooners and Zips will square off for the first time in Norman on Sept. 5, 2015.

Given what is about to happen with college football and the upcoming playoff system, the game should offer some national exposure along with substantial payday, incentives that may get rarer in the coming years

Don't know what's more interesting tonight -- #10 Oklahoma getting rolled by #6 Baylor 34-12 early in the 4th quarter or #3 Oregon getting mauled by #5 Stanford 20-0 early in the 3rd quarter.

Tough choice. I picked option "C" - Go to bed and don't waste another second.

App State 2016 & 2017

Appalachian State University football has secured a third home-and-home series versus an NCAA Division I FBS opponent with an agreement to play Akron in 2016 and ‘17, the schools announced on Monday. Appalachian State will travel to Akron’s InfoCision Stadium on Sept. 24, 2016 with the Zips making a return trip to Kidd Brewer Stadium on Sept. 16, 2017.

Maybe looking to strengthen recruiting connections in the Carolinas?

Let's hope not. Terrible high school football.

I like the App State game. Their win against Michigan has catapulted them into a horrible team and I don't see them winning at the D-1A level. Should be a nice trip to Boone and overnight in Blowing Rock.

I had no idea they were moving to D-1A?

Yet another 1-AA program that has more balls then YSU.

Georgia Southern (who just knocked off Florida) is also moving to 1-A status. If we get to play Appy State at 1-A status I am OK with this as a series. Now I am even more annoyed we didn't beat Michigan at the Big House, this could have been for the Ann Arbor Championship.

So according to fbschedules.com our OOC for the next few years looks like:

2014:

09/06 - at Penn State

09/20 - Marshall

09/27 - at Pittsburgh

2015:

09/05 - at Oklahoma

09/12 - Pittsburgh

09/19 - at UL Lafayette (or 09/26)

2016:

09/10 - at Wisconsin

09/17 - at Marshall

09/?? - Appalachian St.

2017:

at Penn State

at Appalachian St.

Iowa St is in 2018 and 2019.

So if we can buy an FCS game in 2014, 2015 and 2016 our schedules look pretty solid with 6 home games each year.

A lot of universities are moving up. Georgia Southern, who beat Florida on Saturday without completing a pass, will join them in the Sun Belt in 2015. Charlotte and Old Dominion will also move to Conference USA that year. The mid-atlantic is getting crowded.

Just this year Texas-San Antonio, Texas State, South Alabama, and Georgia State moved up.

Another nice quote from that article:

“Akron plays in one of college football’s finest facilities and Coach Terry Bowden and his staff have the program on track to compete for Mid-American Conference championships in the near future. We think our fans will enjoy an early-season trip to Ohio — one of college football’s hotbeds — in 2016 and we are excited to host the Zips and their fans at The Rock in ‘17.”

But the thing I found most interesting was that Appy St. will head back to Michigan for a game next fall. Would have thought Michigan would not want to dredge up those memories.

I agree. App State has a good name and they are well down the road to destruction of a once great I-AA program. By the time 2016 comes around, the Zips should be riding high and they will be in the sewer. Should be victories for the Zips both years. I'm looking forward to a trip to the mountains to watch.

Did I get a Facebook notice today about the Zips playing WVU or was that my imagination?

Appalachian St. is also nicknamed the Mountaineers so you may have seen that.

It'll be a nice revenge storyline for UM. They will slaughter them

It must be hard for YSU to sit back and look at the success Can't and Akron, schools no further than 60 miles away, have had in football over the past 25 years and not want to be a part of it. In the insane world of college athletics, I'm surprised it hasn't happened already.
