zippy5
Not to be a negative nancy, because I feel great about the win and the future, but we really do lose a lot after this season. The majority of the offensive line, and all but Grice on the D-line. Both have done a great job this year. We also lose all of the secondary as well excluding Bre Ford. Those will be tough units to fill, but I'm confident Bowden & Co. will get it done. We return, IMO, very capable skill players as well as what I think will shape into a great linebacking corp. Couldn't be more pleased with the defense tonight. Archer nor Durham had a huge impact unlike last year. Go Zips!! 4 wins coming up. More than the past 3 seasons combined! No offense to our guys, but we're 3-7. I'm not real concerned about "losing" anyone.
footballzip
I hope the program got over the hump. Huge win over our rival. Should help recruiting and bragging rights in our area. Nice to get the Wagon Wheel back. Good job Zips!
skip-zip
When I stated on here earlier in the week that we needed to avoid any big gains by Archer, I didn't even realize just how much of an impact that was going to make. It's clear now that Ken+ has little to go with, offensively, when those plays aren't working. But, I still predicted that Ken+ would score more than 7 points, so our defense truly showed up last night. It's great to have a feeling that I haven't had on a Sunday morning in 4 years....beating Ken+. In addition, our discussions as we left the stadium reminded me that it had been 3 years since we beat a D 1-A team at home. Wow. I also like our chances to win against UMass, and be competitive against Toledo with the 2-week gaps between each game. At the very least, we should be healthier and more rested than we've been at any point this year.
GeorgeThomasABJ
Post-game video available: http://www.ohio.com/blogs/ua-zips/universi...-video-1.442109 Again, constructive criticism is appreciated: tried a new mini tripod set up for this one. It's clear now that Ken+ has little to go with, offensively, when those plays aren't working. Last year, those big plays (and timely interceptions) was basically all Ken+ had. That's how they stayed in and won all those games. They were exposed in the bowl, and every game since.

Dr Z
Again, constructive criticism is appreciated: tried a new mini tripod set up for this one.Nice job on the stabilization. Audio was a little low. If you get a chance this week, can you ask KP if his "injury" is limiting him in any way on the field?
UA1987
As has been said, the entire defense played great, but I think Moses McCray's name deserves to be mentioned. As in the Michigan game when Caponi was out, McCray stepped in and took on Can't's offensive line to free up our linebackers and was in on 5 tackles himself. I had my eye on Grice too and he was being held most of the game. Happy for everyone involved - including the fans. The program has officially turned with this victory. Go Zips! Zipmeister
@George Thomas: Please George, give some serious thought to changing your name. I was reliving the game this morning by reading ABJ articles. Never actually read one before by the Can't State beat writer, Stephanie Storm. What a cool name, Stephanie Storm. With that alliteration thing working for her the name just kind of rolls off your tongue, Stephanie Storm. And that powerful, kind of meteorological, last name kind of grabs you like Wolf Blitzer; boy I bet they would make a great couple. I can envision their photos on the cover of People magazine. Sticking with the meteorological theme, and trying for a bit of alliteration ourselves, how about George Gale? Naw, sounds a little girly. There is no reason Can't State should have a writer with a cooler name than our writer. Please George, think about it.
zipproud
Good post. +1 The Kan't win was huge and what I believe to be the turning point of the Bowden era. If we can end with 4 wins that is a great year. If we can upset Toledo and get a 5th win that would be tremendous. No matter how you slice it three wins with a chance to get 4 is just the beginning of great things to come. We had a great turnout of recruits at the Kan't game and they got a chance to witness a great win. I'm telling you people will look back at this win and remember it as the turning point for AKRON FOOTBALL!!!!! Great win ZIPS!!!!
