johnnyzip84 Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 K.E.N.T.’s o-line was a huge strength of theirs last year. The loss of that talent, plus a few keys injuries, has been instrumental in the drop-off between 2012 and 2013. And the jury is still out on Paul Haynes as well. Archer remains a big threat of course, and Colin Reardon has looked effective at times (they really suffered when he went down). Without the terrific o-line, Durham has become pedestrian. The reinstatement of CJ James is huge and I think (pure speculation) that Mizell will also play. I agree with CK that Caponi will lead by example in not allowing K.E.N.T. to get anything established consistently on the ground. Grice played well at Dix last year and I expect more of the same. The Zips will run it better, with Pohl and Reardon basically matching each other in productivity. ZIPS 31 F.L.A.S.H.E.S. 27 Quote

ZIPS 31 F.L.A.S.H.E.S. 27 Also JZ, last year Can't was plus 20 in turnover margin, which was one of the best in FBS. This year so far they are -2. You'd have to look at each turnover to see, but I think luck had a fair amount to do with this favorable 2012 stat for Can't. On Saturday. I look for Can't's offense to try and provoke personal fouls on our D, based on our penalty history this year, with more than the usual blocking/pushing for second after the whistle, trash talking, hidden punches, disguised tripping etc.... I'm hoping that McCray, Hollis, Holmes and the rest are reviewing how to handle this adversity and how to use it to our advantage. Quote
MDZip Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Zips have turned the corner, at home, Wagon Wheel game in front of a pretty big crowd. Zips 31-17. Quote
Zips22 Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Zips get out to a good sized lead early and take their foot off the gas. Can't rallies back but falls short Zips win!! 27-24 Quote
Dr Z Posted October 30, 2013 Author Report Posted October 30, 2013 Zips 24 Can't 16I like this score, if we score first. If they score first I'll 24-20 Zips. PS So far, not one member has picked the Zips to lose, including me. Quote
PB1719 Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Zips 45, flushes 17. Our front 7 will pressure their qb all day. This will be a major breakout game. Chisholm will rush for 170+ Yards. It's payback time! Quote
K92 Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Zips 35 Flushes 3 The Zips reverse the 2011 score. There will be jubilation in the parking lots after the game. No one will be calling the Summit County Suicide Prevention Hotline this year! I also heard through the vine that there might be some Old Grand Dad flowing before the game. Quote
Dr Z Posted October 30, 2013 Author Report Posted October 30, 2013 I also heard through the vine that there might be some Old Grand Dad flowing before the game. NOW, I'm pumped for the game! (couldn't find a smiley with a hoodie smoking a cigar) Quote

K92 Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 We definitely need to get a good group picture taken Saturday. Quote
skip-zip Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 I can't believe I see that someone is predicting a big crowd. Come on. November, maybe 50 degrees, and a team with two wins, and an opponent which doesn't come close to resembling the Cinderella image from last year? "Ticket Sales" of 18,000 with half that much in attendance, if we're lucky. The Game: Please, please give me an effort like the first half at Ken+ last year. At home, we'll hang onto that lead this time, even though we haven't played well at home up to this point. But, we can't allow Archer to get loose for any carries over 10 yards. K92 Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 I think Skip is probably right and while I am hoping for a great crowd, I dont really see people turning out in droves to watch two 2-win ball clubs. Hope I am wrong. Seeing a large throng of Zips fans arriving early to perform their due diligence in the parking lot before the game will make me very happy. See you at 8. Quote

IDK, I'm bringing a party of 23 college people to the game. Mix of Can't and Akron students, but we wouldn't miss it for the world! Snowing or not! I just hope others think like I do...I like when the stadium has people in it. Quote

We are bringing 6 to 8 on top of our normal group. I am hoping for a great crowd since it will be the first zips game for most of them. Quote
K92 Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 My pot of chili will have some secret ingredients in it. I hope it turns out well. I was told not to pass judgment on the recipe until it murrinates for a couple days. We should have plenty of food for everyone. Even Can't fans. Quote

You made a special pot of hash chili for our friends from Portage county?? Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted October 31, 2013 Report Posted October 31, 2013 Just so happens, we're having a hotly contested chili cook-off at work tomorrow. So I have an enormous batch now cooking, so I can kill two birds with one stone. Just as a teaser, not one can was opened for this recipe. But ZG01, I could still pass a random test after eating this Scotch Bonnet flavored blend Looking forward to all of the festivities. Regardless of the record, this is as excited about a Zip football game as I've been in a few years. Go Zips!!! Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted October 31, 2013 Report Posted October 31, 2013 Coming home from college with a friend just to watch this game. Needless to say I'm excited! Let's Go Zips! Quote
