Dave in Green
The story you link to only mentions a homophobic slur. I think any discussion that evolves from this may be better suited for the OT forum. I hope the discussion remains civil.
GP1
I think people involved in football where adults are involved are now being asked to act like adults. The players at EMU are adults and should be treated as such. The coach is being asked to act like an adult. The players and coaches for the Miami Dolphins are adults and should conduct themselves as such. The networks should treat these people as adults when they promote games and shouldn't have them jumping around like a bunch of fools. It's time for these adult children to grow up. The original story made no mention of a homophobic slur and the updated story does not claim that the potty mouth was limited to homophobic slurs. ZachTheZip
More like they fired him for his 11-46 record at EMU, and are using the language thing as an excuse to fire him "with cause" and avoid paying a buyout.
GP1
How was the Wake Forest game yesterday? All in all, the day was not that bad. It's all about limiting exposure to misery. Got to my seat at noon...was back at the car drinking beer with friends who didn't bother to go in at 12:56.
Sergeant Zip
I guess this is the opposite of "love em up", as Bear Bryant described it.
Dr Z
Here is the recorded rant if anybody is interested. I hope EMU can get the program together.
MDZip
Here is the recorded rant if anybody is interested. I hope EMU can get the program together. Wow, I can understand why they got rid of him, but you wonder how often this kind of stuff happened when there just wasn't a convenient recording device around to capture it. Good for EMU's players to go out and win a game right after it happened. Even with the Zips miserable recent run, the program wasn't in as bad of shape as EMU. While I'm not sure what he was trying to accomplish with that rant, I'm not seeing any slurs. If we're such a pansy society nowadays that a football coach can get canned for dropping a few f bombs in the heat of the moment and calling players b--tches, then we're worse off than I thought.
