GP1
NIU is the best MAC team since some of the great ones in the Marshall era. NIU, Total < 69. NIU 42 BSU
Dave in Green
NIU needs a big win to move ahead of Fresno State in the BCS standings, where they are currently #14 and #15 and battling for a BCS bowl berth. Two seasons in a row would be great for the MAC. 14. Fresno State [.432]: Even after the Bulldogs handled what looked like a tricky trip to Wyoming with ease, don't pencil them into the BCS just yet; an equally tricky trip to San Jose State remains in the season finale, and either Boise State or Utah State would loom in the MW Championship Game. 15. Northern Illinois [.351]: The Huskies break into the top 16 for the first time -- just in time for their biggest game of the regular season, a Wednesday night #MACtion visit from 9-1 Ball State. "Non-AQ" teams must reach the BCS top 16 and outrank one "AQ" champion to be eligible for an automatic BCS berth.
LZIp
I feel like wins over Ball St, Toledo, and Buffalo/BG should be enough for NIU to jump Fresno, but I'm a little biased. Its also worth noting that Fresno's game against Colorado was "postponed" so they would end up with 1 less win than the Huskies.
skip-zip
If NIU gets to a BCS bowl game two years in a row, its going to be big for them, especially if they can be more competitive this time. But, the conference's ability to recruit has to be enhanced when a player sees that he can get to a major bowl game from our conference, which means that we will get some benefit from it as well. Dr Z
The Huskies pass defense is abysmal. I'm very interested to see how Wenning carves them up. He impressed me against the Zips, more than Lynch. An interesting prop bet would be total punts in this game. I'll put the line at 6.5. For GP1, there is only one team in the nation that has punted the ball more than Wake Forest.

There was only one team with a worse coach than Jim Grobe and USC fired him a few weeks ago.
Hilltopper
I think BSU will knock off NIU.
Dr Z
I think BSU will knock off NIU.I tend to agree. This rarely works...BUT the Zips lost by 7 @ NIU, and Ball St beat us by 18 @ home. This seems like one of the games that the team that has the ball last wins. Can't wait. GP1
This rarely works...BUT the Zips lost by 7 @ NIU, and Ball St beat us by 18 @ home. Dr Z deploys some Faustian logic.
Dr Z
Dr Z deploys some Faustian logic.I used the same crazy logic last year with the Redhawks Bobcats game. I think the money line was 4:1. Works once in a while.
GJGood
I think Wenning may be the QB that deserves the most publicity in the MAC. BSU will have the bigger chip on its shoulder because many "experts" have no idea they are even capable of being a challenge for NIU. I think BSU shocks the pundits. That being said, I am rooting for NIU because there is no way a one loss MAC school is getting a BCS berth this year. It is better noteriety and moneywise for the entire conference if NIU wins. Lee Adams
Testicle Tech beat up the Zips here. NIU beat them by 7 in DeKalb. The comparison in the Akron scores is meaningless. That game may very well be a defensive 'struggle'. TT has a nice O-line. Have two good receivers. We know all about Lynch etc etc. This may just be the old home field advantage, whatever that is unless one or the other gets behind early due to TO's,penalties, etc.
GoZips88
Money on the line for the MAC? Go Huskies! All the makings of an entertaining game. Looking forward to it.
johnnyzip84
This is very intriguing game for me. I think Wenning is the best QB in the MAC, hands down. I know Lynch can be a handful, but a good defense won't allow him to do what he does best. However I was far less than impressed by BSU's defense (hence the intrigue). They are mediocre at best. They're only decent when down and distance are in their favor. Force me to make a call, and I have to go with the Cards. I think Sneed and Edwards will both put up nice numbers in a shootout. K92
This game was the opening topic on Mark Packer's SXM afternoon show. Nice to see the MAC get some national attention. I think NIU will get it done. After navigating the non-conference schedule unscathed, they have had some unimpressive MAC wins, but you couldn't blame them for looking ahead to Balls & Toledo. They come out focused tonight & have their way with a good team. NIU-42 BSU-
Dave in Green
Lots of yardage being run up, but still relatively low scoring with NIU up 10-7 early in the second quarter.
Dr Z
Like the NIU jerseys. Under/over finished at 73 before kickoff!?!
Dave in Green
If you like to watch non-stop offense, this is great TV. Already 300+ yards total offense 5 minutes into the 2nd quarter, and BSU up 14-10.
LZIp
Great game so far. Difference at the moment is that BSU is getting touchdowns and NIU has had to settle for a couple field goals. Little defense at all.
LZIp
lol.. Ball St literally doing everything they can to give NIU points
Dave in Green
Combined total offense at halftime is 546 yards and 30 first downs. With BSU up 24-20, I'd say that 70+ points are guaranteed, but have no idea who's going to come out on top.
Dave in Green
Still racking up lots of yards, well over 1,000. They just stopped scoring. Looks like it stays under 70 with NIU about to win.
LZIp
just like that..over 70 lol
