fknbuflobo Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 Time to get over the horrible lack of respect once again shown to us by the NCAA. Hoosiers will not go down without considerable fight. Zips will need to maintain recent good form. Quote
UAZipster0305 Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 7-23-2 all-time against the defending National Champions out of the B10...the perfect way to start a run for a second gold star. Enough said. I'll be there. Quote
Staton14 Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 According to the Men's soccer twitter, all 500 of the student tickets, that the Athletic Department bought, have been distributed already. They have, therefore, purchased 250 more. After those are gone, students can buy a ticket for $1. Glad I got my free one early, Can't afford to pay a dollar Quote

Zips Win! Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 Time to get over the horrible lack of respect once again shown to us by the NCAA. It was that superior leadership from the MAC commish that got us this wonderful seed. Now, if it was NIU football, he would be all over it!!! Quote
72 Roo Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 I hope we use this as motivation and come out with a gigantic chip on our shoulders. Sure we have been disrespected, screwed, what have you so let's use it for motivation and adopt an attitude we play well with…. and that is us against the world. Zips come out with a vengeance and destroy Indiana. Then pound Marquette and any other team that stands in our way. This is a good team and if the NCAA selection committee thinks we have something to prove let's do just that. And give them the finger as we pull away the winner in each contest. I've got my tickets and I am psyched. Let's create an impossible place for IU to play in! Quote

akronad Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 We tried that a couple of years ago and they moved the game. Let's just win the game here. Yes, but that is how the "Akron" rule came to be . Now, instead of moving the game to the opponent's field, the game can be played locally at another field(Hoban, SVSM, Copley, etc.) Quote
CALzip88 Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 To all you fact crazy fanatics out there. Here is an interesting one for you and one that might be some cannon fodder for you ROWDIES at the game tomorrow... Starting GK Jake Fenlason and UI new starting GK Colin Webb were high school teammate. Rancho Bernardo High School It looks like Webb was second best behind Fenlason in HS... as well as college, because sources say, Webb tried contacting and visited Akron before he found out Fenlason was coming. Obviously Webb isn't a Zip and Fenlason is. I wonder if it made a difference that Webb did not want to be playing second fiddle behind Fenlason after he did it in high school. Quote
RootforRoo44 Posted November 21, 2013 Report Posted November 21, 2013 I'm not sure which disrespect is worse: -The NCAA -Akron's own athletic department being small time and lame by not letting a group of Rowdies welcome the Hoosiers soccer team to Akron as they walked to practice today. So glad UA punishes pride and dedication. No wonder student attendance is down at nearly every sport. Quote
Crew8 Posted November 21, 2013 Report Posted November 21, 2013 A little info on the Pina/Fenlason switch UA coach Jared Embick takes big risk with goalkeeper switch Quote

Hoosiers have also recently made a GK switch to Webb. Ironic. Quote
TennZip Posted November 21, 2013 Report Posted November 21, 2013 prediction from J.R. Eskilson - top drawer soccer Akron (16-3-1) vs. Indiana (8-11-2), 7 p.m. How They Got Here: For Indiana, it was a miracle. The Hoosiers won the Big Ten Championship to earn the automatic qualifier to the tournament after what best could be described as a disappointing regular season. Akron continued to be the bully of the MAC and captured another conference crown. Form: Akron is undefeated in its last ten games and won its last six. Indiana is undefeated in its last four games. Players to know: Akron center back/all-everything Bryan Gallego said on Twitter this week that he would be back in the lineup for Thursday’s game after missing out on the MAC Championship due to injury. Freshman Tommy Thompson has been the best player this season for Indiana, and he has recently returned from injury as well. Thompson has five goals and two assists in 12 starts. Stat of the game: Akron head coach Jared Embick is undefeated as a head coach in NCAA Division I Tournament games.* *Important note: This is Embick’s first NCAA Division I Tournament game as a head coach. Prize: A trip to one of the best burger joints in the country in Sobelman’s Pub & Grill (plus a game against Marquette) in the next round.) Prediction: Akron 2-2 Indiana (Akron wins 5-4 in PKs) Quote
fknbuflobo Posted November 21, 2013 Author Report Posted November 21, 2013 Anything but PKs. I cannot stomach postseason PKs. Quote
TennZip Posted November 21, 2013 Report Posted November 21, 2013 Saad Abdul Salaam is sick with the flu and not in the starting lineup.... Hopefully, someone else can step up Quote

Dave in Green Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 Zips up 1-0 on a Brenes goal, assist by Quinn, at 6:06. Quote
Dave in Green Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 Now 2-0 on a Quinn goal. Quote
Dave in Green Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 Indiana is way more aggressive than any team I've seen the Zips play this season. Zips are doing a nice job of countering. Quote
LZIp Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 Pretty solid 1st half and entertaining game so far. Zips getting some nice chances and have a few goals. Indiana getting some chances as well, but haven't capitalized. Would like for the back line to play a little better, but besides that, looking good! Quote
