If you had the opportunity to call one play against Toledo, what would it be? Feel free to explain your personnel, or reasoning for the play. Most of us have sat in front of our TVs, or at Infocision stadium this year saying "why don't they just...." Let everyone know what you have been thinking or saying. I'm assuming Gruden is selecting spider two Y banana, but what would you call?

Here is mine. Toledo will look at many wide receiver screens on tape soon. I want to take advantage. I mostly hate the wide receiver screen, but I have always thought, why not pump fake that and hit the other receiver on the go route. Obviously the defense has to be aligned properly to make this work, and I think this play takes advantage of Kyle's sideline accuracy.

Here it is my submission to AJ:

PS If offensive isn't your thing and you want to give Coach Amato your play, feel free.

I like your idea so much, Dr Z, that I'll put my own twist on it. Empty the backfield like we did on the Chisholm TD reception. In this formation, Jawon had TWO blockers in front of him. Have both wide receivers on the right side of the field set up to block just as they did Saturday. Like you suggest, have Pohl pump fake to Chisholm, WHILE the two WRs rub off one another, the inside WR heading down the sideline and the outside WR streaking deep toward the middle. I think there is a good chance one of the WRs will be open.

You forgot to account for the safety who will prevent your play from being successful. I only see 9 defenders in your scenario. I like the idea of the pump fake,and prefer JZ's play.

I've had this play in my head for two years now (for the Zips), to see it work on the biggest stage, at the most crucial time of a game, was pure delight for me. :thumb:

Now that I looked at your link I had a better view. I was mistaken about how many defenders are on the field. They are only missing one instead of two. It's still much easier to score on 10 instead of eleven guys. Where is the missing safety? Count for yourself. ;)

With the risk of hijacking the integrity of the thread, I'll pass. It will come to you.

Edit: Incase it hasn't come to you yet, this will help. I'm not the only fan of the play, BTSC featured this play this morning as his favorite play of the year.

I've always liked the second play on the video below (a version of the Statue of Liberty). Yep, it may have worked at Michigan. Practice it for Toledo and use it in the right situation.

No problem. I wish I knew enough to come up with on that I knew would work. I guess my favorite one was the lateral to D'Orazio and then his pass from there for a TD. That was a cool play.

I believe one of the Browns recent successful plays is adaptable to the Zips offense. The Browns use it to get Gordon one on one quickly down the sideline, I think this plays goes to Fransohn Bickley in the Zips offense. Once again, I think this takes advantage of one of KP16 strengths (accurate sideline pass).

PS If your watching the Cle\Pit game today, watch for it. The Steelers will not defend this the way it is drawn up here, but not the point.

How about something I DON'T want to see;

The Bubble screen!

What I want to see: An double reverse, then pass!

The Raiders just executed your play perfectly Dr Z. But unfortunately the safety made the tackle preventing the touchdown.Two plays later the Cowboys intercepted a pass in the end zone. Net result-zero points.

I would love to see a play that got MTB the ball downfield. It seems like he always catches the ball within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage.
