Zips @ Ken+

Well this was their MAC championship, they suck, they will not be in the semi's at the Q, so they were playing for everything and still should have lost. I am glad I turned the stream off so I didn't have to see it, and never will, also to hearTy Lindor and the obnoxious Can't State radio team

If Akron won this game I still say I am disappointed in what I saw. No urgency at all. Little to no effort. No one running to the huddle during timeouts. No one running to the bench during substitutions. I saw a bunch of slumped shoulders and bruised egos. The Seniors Diggs, Harney & Treadwell need to step it up and show more leadership on the floor.

100% agree...why do I punish myself with this team?

Post game radio: (KD) blaming it on missed free throws, bad fouls, bad calls, too many minutes by players, big guys turning it over. It is what it is. This is the type of team we are. We are going to play tight games. Ken+s a good team, we'll probably play them three times and win the third one when it counts.

I have listened to tons of KD post game interviews and enjoyed. I usually agree with 90 percent of what he says. His attitude was a little too ho hum for me tonight. Maybe I'm reading it wrong since I'm mad we lost and I expected him to be. He mentioned he can't get too high and too low as a coach. French does a nice job handling those post game interviews.

PS Big Dog wasn't available tonight.

I've learned that there's always a method to KD 's madness. Maybe the players were taking it hard and the ho hum-ness was an attempt to not panic. Who knows, but I trust him when it comes to the MAC.

Can't wait to get a piece of those classless thugs down the road.

Storming the floor was comical but i get it, probably their only remaining opportunity. Not too long ago I recall K S U going into these games expecting to win. Now they are so shocked they storm the floor in early Feb. When it comes to suck, Can't wrote the book..

  1. Too many uncontested layups allowed.

Too many silly turnovers.

Goodson should have fouled out well before the last few minutes if his taunting of a fallen Harney been properly officiated - even so, the Zips do not deserve to win games like this.

The K.E.N.T. fans seemed to act as though they were putting us in our place - only time will tell.

I don't get the "missed free throws" line. The Zips were 12-16 (75%), not great but better than the NCAA average and one of their better free throw shooting performances of a below-average season. Free throw shooting was the least of their problems tonight. I watched the second half of the Can't collapse against NIU, and they were truly awful. I could not imagine this Can't team beating the Zips, and apparently the Zips couldn't imagine it either. We all need to get used to the fact that there's no dominant team in the MAC this season. It's not just going to come down to the Q for the Zips, but for everyone in the MAC. Whoever gets it all together in March is going dancing, and it isn't at all clear in early February who that's going to be.

#3 is being overlooked by a lot of folks. How was that not a technical foul? I'd love to hear an explanation from officials.

I'll answer that. We missed those 4 free throws, consecutively, at a point in the first half when we were separating ourselves from them. The first half took a real turn after all of those scoreless trips down the floor. The timing was horrible.

I'd love to see it again. Frenchy wouldn't stop talking about it. I need some extra fuel to get me ready for the rematch in March, and some additional confirmation of the thugs that continue to play basketball at Can't State.

Two of those were the front end of one and ones as well. Stats are just a piece of the puzzle, dig :)

I don't get how people are upset that Can't stormed the floor in celebration of beating their rival. I wouldn't label them thugs or anything like that.

Did you see how we acted after getting the Wagon Wheel back? (5-7, 4-4) This is a rivary and win or lose I like to see those type of emotions on both sides. As a fan & alumn it makes me look more forward to getting revenge.

Too many uncontested layups allowed

From a defensive standpoint, this is my biggest concern going forward. And I'm much more bothered by the fact that they were beating our perimeter defenders off the dribble than the fact that their shots were uncontested at the rim.

I know it might seem nitpicky that you and I are bringing this up when we held them to a pretty low point total, but it appeared as if they knew they were fast enough to dribble past us on many occasions, and they took advantage of that.

Frenchy wouldn't stop talking about it.

I watched the game and listened to French. Steve puts gas on the fire that is 'ZN ref whining'

He also complained about the delay of game warning on us, that clearly should have been.

PS Last shot was #10 on ESPN's Top Ten today.

I'm with KD on this one. Since the EMU game, KD has taken my advice (still brings tears to my eyes to know the influence I can have on the team from long distance) and gone down a road that can lead to more than just winning the MAC.While it is fun to win the MAC, we would like to see more and he wants more. One loss on the road to a rival is not cause for panic.Heck, there were lots of "upsets" at the top of the standings yesterday in the MAC. League play is difficult. Keep thinking and coaching bigger KD.

I wasn't upset at all by the actions of their fans storming the floor. As I stated, I thought it to be comical. Normally, storming the floor is reserved for clinching a title or a titanic upset of a national power by a huge underdog. A 2 point victory by a 2 point underdog on the first week of Feb is hardly "storming" material. Seriously, we laughed like hell when we saw them coming.

I only got tho hear the last few seconds of KD but I think downplaying the loss was the correct call. We just came off an emotional win for Pete where we played one of the best defensive games I had seen in a couple of years. We get beat on a 100-1 banked three on a night when we played like s%*t. It happens. Loved it when KD said we'll beat them when it counts.

Tree was huge again, but nobody was there to help on this night. Probably the two most concerning question marks in my mind were how Pat just totally disappeared, and Nick's basketball IQ on this particular night. Both players need to master some sort of similitude of consistency. I'm never quite sure what to expect from these two when we play. Also Can't did do a good job of closing out. Some nights we don't make our 3 pointers but on this night we had a tough time of even getting one off that wasn't forced over a defender.

Lastly... I almost never complain about officiating but Eppley and Beaver should turn in their whistles. On Saturdays, when almost everybody plays, the big ten tends to get gets the better officials and we get whats left. I was surprised to Steratore on the floor however, he's a pretty high profile ref with a solid reputation, must have been a logistical thing.

My thing is the game wasn't over yet after Goodson's prayer banked in, and the entire Can't bench stormed the court, even redshirt freshmen and walk-ons came all the way down to the Akron side when there was still time on the clock. Must have been an embarrassment to see that on Time Warner. When a team leaves the bench before the game is over, especially after they have been warned to stay back a couple times already in the game, that should be a technical foul or something should be called. Just saying. If a player on your team makes a free throw in the middle of the game, you can't just have the team come off the bench and congratulate them. Classic home cooking for a jittery rivalry game. Frenchy was saying on the radio that officials seem to lose restriction control during rivalry games. Can't has become more and more ghetto. You're storming the court after a mid-season regular season game and you're in last place in your division?

I agree that there needs to be more sense of urgency come later in the season from Harney and Diggs. Diggs took some good shots but made a couple bad fouls and made some sloppy passes. At least he got in the weight room in the off-season. You gotta get Forsythe in the weight room and he will get better. Harney is shooting 20% from threes and he took a couple bad shots early in the shot clock when we should have gone inside more. When games are close in the final minutes you gotta work it in and try to get to the line. We should have also been pressing way earlier than 3 minutes left in the game. We missed way too many bunnies and shots in the paint throughout the game. We needed to fight more on D to get those possessions back.
