This whole incident is stupid. From the hazing going on as long as it did, to the victim not treating his wounds before they became severely infected.

There is an article in the latest issue of The Atlantic covering the increased violence and danger of fraternity life, including a rather shocking yet hilarious set of examples related to damage to one's most private areas. Any parent with a college-bound child really needs to read this article.

Originally I thought it was just a minor wiping issue, but now I realize its a major whipping issue.

Zips basketball has made some repugnant headlines in the last year.

At least this didn't happen while he was playing but it really brings into question the basketball program right? The previous conversation relative to Harney, the Abreu situation, Q sat out a year...we have consistently talked about other programs with issues and it seems we aren't any better.

I agree, I used to look at Can't State as a bunch of thugs, but they played a street ball style of basketball that was tough to beat, as we have elevated our winning ways I think it goes hand in hand with a trend towards those type of players. Not all obviously, but it may seem as a broad stroke of the paint brush painting our program this way, but I think most agree what I am talking about. (remember the Hipsher days)

Let me put it this way:

I believe we won only 1 or 2 MAC Tournament games...total....during Hipsher's tenure (I think it was just short of 10 years)

By contrast, we now win that many tournament games or more in any given YEAR.

So, it's not a surprise that the young folks would not even know who he is.

What the hell does this have to do with Zip basketball?

The staff has to wet nurse former players until what age? Twenty-six?

This incident has nothing to do with Zip basketball. Perhaps the well known and often in trouble fraternity needs looked into.

Is/was the former player in question a member of this well known and often in trouble fraternity?

Is this well known and often in trouble fraternity you are speaking of known as "The fraternity of Zips Men's Basketball"?

no. Not all fraternities are like that. Hazing has not place at Akron and I personally am in one of the social fraternities. I can guarantee you that behavior like that is not tolerated by not only our members but the governing council at Akron and our national headquarters.

This is an ignorant comment. What happened at that frat house has nothing to do with Akron Basketball. And to imply that the basketball program is troubled is equally dumb.

I did not imply that the basketball program had anything to do with it. Just pointed that another person associated with the program has added yet another black mark. Not about to continue beating the dead horse.

We need more players of Zeke Marshall's character. Damn I miss that guy.
