1981 grad
It was a great game to watch. I think that at this point in the season Deji and Pat are huge surprises on how well they are playing. Last year they did not even start and on many nights were hardly in the game. Now they are leading this team. Deji had a tremendous layup and got fouled. Pat was once again perfect from the field.I have been very critical of this team because I believe they take to many 3 point shots. I noticed tonight the Robotham was getting closer to the basket when taking his jump shot and he was drilling them. I wish that the others would understand that every jump shot does not have to be a 3 pointer. This year shooting threes is not our strength. The bald headed ref called the worst travelling call of the year. Our guard was standing still and got called for travelling. I wish I knew what the ref saw but it was weird. Looking forward to Saturdays game.
skip-zip
I think that at this point in the season Deji and Pat are huge surprises on how well they are playing. Last year they did not even start and on many nights were hardly in the game. Deji started 20 of the 29 games last year.He played 15 min. p/game.He shot almost 40% from 3 point land. This Year:He's playing 5 more min. per game, and scoring 4 more ppg than last year.I don't see why some people are viewing his performance as some kind of miraculous transformation. He's playing a few more minutes and scoring a few more points. It's not a shocker. He's a great athlete, and simply continues to get better. The only thing that should shock anyone is that he dramatically improved his FT shooting.
johnnyzip84
While it was a nice win and the home defense against MAC teams continues to excel, I certainly hope the Zips work to correct the mistakes they made in terms of breaking the press and also securing the ball after rebounds. 17 turnovers will usually be an issue. It was great to see Noah continue to hit FTs down the stretch, as this will be an important part of his game in the close MAC contests that will surely occur at some point this season. In fact, Saturday night is shaping up to be one of those occasions.Go Zips!!! Z-I.....
ZIPSMOM2
Hello Zips Family....After seeing Kwan get hurt in the Toledo game... I was really worry he wasn't going to play this game. Kwan really hasn't had to deal with injuries. So, I was concern how this would effect him. Well... I must say he actually did good despite being injury. I spoke with him after the game and he said "that he felt good and he knows he has to really step up his game on Saturday against Central Michigan". I have to say I really enjoy watching this team play this year. They seem to really like each other and play well together. I'm excited to be a ZIPS mom and fan....GO ZIPS!!!

Glib Shanley
I am just as shocked tonight as I was against Western. Didn't see that coming at all! Now, as hard as I am on the students behind the hoop, it was nice to see them there tonight with some energy. I will say though...I thought is was pretty crappy of them to say at the end of the anthem.... ".... and the home of the ZIPS." Not cool. (and my daughter asked me why Zippy was dancing during the anthem and not standing still.)Still a small crowd (lots of empty blue seats) but it seemed like there was a little more energy tonight.And.... No "TERRIBLE"s from the standing walk man guy in the corner...but he did start the "Z-I-P-S" cheer!Very well played game by UA tonight. Every night it is someone else contributing. Who would have thought that UA could ever win a game by 20 when Jake and Reggie combine for 6 points. Agree. We get the students to come out and now the blue hairs don't show up to sit in the blue chairs. (Sorry, that was too easy)I agree re: The National Anthem. I give them points for singing, but then they ruin it with the "Home of the Zips." Yes, I'm older and have a totally different perspective than they do, but C'mon Man..In the first half when the Zips were on their 27-2 run and BG called a time out, I jump up and am yelling and clapping.I glance around and I just start to laugh to myself. The "2-Standers" are all sitting ...... But with the blowout win last night, it was truly just a "1 Stander" night for the blue hairs. Although, occasionally they do stand momentarily for the free balls and shirts. And to JohnnyZip......another -P-S
Captain Kangaroo
Although, occasionally they do stand momentarily for the free balls and shirts. I would estimate the ratio of t-shirts and balls that reach the JAR second seating level to be 1:100.Our cheerleaders throw like Clayton Moore's sister. And, left-handed. And, into the wind.

Kwan is a pleasure to watch! From today's ABJ:The Cheatham difference: Kwan Cheatham’s status was uncertain heading into the game, yet he gutted it out and gave the Zips 19 minutes and was effective, Dambrot noticed.“I think the one thing that’s really noticeable is with Kwan Cheatham and without Kwan Cheatham. It’s huge having that second defender at the rim and not playing that 6-6, 6-7 guy,” he said. “We got [19] minutes out of him. He got five points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks. That’s a good day at the office for a guy that didn’t practice.”http://www.ohio.com/blogs/ua-zips/university-of-akron-zips-blog-1.277207/points-to-ponder-in-the-akron-zips-67-50-win-over-the-bowling-green-falcons-1.558649
bobbyake
Now don't even get me started on the cheerleaders.... And I am not talking about the girl cheerleaders.... Male Cheerleadershaha, not cool. I cheered at Akron for a couple years. I have no clue what they're like now. I haven't been to a football or basketball game in awhile and hardly make it to the soccer games anymore I'd like to go to the basketball games, but I do not enjoy the thought of sitting on those hard bleachers. I can do that at a high school game, but it's unacceptable for a college game.
Dr Z
I do not enjoy the thought of sitting on those hard bleachersPart of the upgrade proposal is lining the bleachers with memory foam. They were going to do this at Wrigley field and Yankee stadium back in the 90's but didn't have the budget. I'm pretty sure it is included in the new update.
