The Hip Zip
Jake was nothing short of outstanding today. If he can keep this going then watch out. Tough spot for the Zips today so i'm not totally despondent over this one. The effort was there
Dave in Green
In a 3-point loss like this Deji could have easily made the difference.
skip-zip
I've already said that I love that we have 2 conference road wins, but I'd still like a 3rd one. I think @Miami might be the best remaining chance. These stats from French are unbelievable...for the LOSING team. 1) We had 30 more FG attempts.2) We had 28 offensive rebounds.3) We outscored their bench 34 to 4. LZIp
3) We outscored their bench 34 to 4. Its a good thing we have all that depth.

skip-zip
Just because you keep saying it doesn't mean 2 road wins is acceptableConsidering that they were both late, nail-bitter wins, we could easily be at ZERO road wins right now too. Right? So, what can we define as "acceptable"?

If we want to win a MAC championship - I'd say 2-7 isn't gonna cut it.
akronzips71
In a 3-point loss like this Deji could have easily made the difference.Beat me to it.The most athletic guy on the team.Probably good for at least 8 points and 3 boards and a couple of steals.Oh well. Blue & Gold
I like the way EMU tries to run every time they got a defensive rebound. I wish we did more of that. Especially with our depth.Might as well try to score before the defense gets set up.
Dave in Green
Zips hit 12-32 (37.5%) of their 3s and 13-46 (28.3%) of their 2s. So they obviously should be taking more high percentage shots.

If we want to win a MAC championship - I'd say 2-7 isn't gonna cut it.Yep. So, we could have as few as Zero, or as many as 4 conference road wins at this point. So again, what is "acceptable" at this point, for a young team that lost it's best player? There's only one team in front of us, and we own the tiebreaker against them. So apparently our 2 road wins are enough to contend for a MAC title.

But is 2-7 on the road something we should really be happy with? I mean, that's 11-7 if you go undefeated at home. Say what you want, but that's not up to par for what KD has built here. 4 or 5 puts you in the driver's seat.

No (although I haven't looked at past conference road records)Enough to win a MAC title? Obviously Yes, based on the current standings. zippy5
Have you looked at the standings? We're in a 4 way tie for 2nd. 2 isn't enough now nor will it be enough in 3 weeks.

We probably should end this. If were in 2nd place with only 2 road wins, only a game back, and own the tiebreaker against the only team in front of us, then obviously there's a pretty good chance that we can win the title. If you feel that it's not possible, then that's you opinion. They have shot better from inside the ark than from 3 all season. We lost to yet another team that we shouldn't. Probably because we shot so poor on what should be higher % shots. Maybe they should practice them more. You're better than using an anomaly to make a point.

1981 grad
I bought the feed from Eastern Michigan and with about 5 minutes left in the first half it kept freezing. The second half it froze almost every 30 seconds. The game was difficult to watch on two fronts. Did anyone else buy the feed and have a problem?Another road game and another road loss with unusual stats. At OU we only had 6 foul shots and missed them all.Today, we had 26 offensive rebound, took 29 more shots than Eastern and still lost. Amazing. Our big guys had problems with the zone. We would get the ball under the basket and not finish. Big Dog was 1 of 8. All of his shots were from 5 feet or less. Pat also missed some inside shots. I would like to say our foul shooting hurt us but we seem to get numerous offensive rebound off our missed free throws. I think we need to practice more against a zone in case we have to face these guys in the tournament.
Blue & Gold
One word : Paritymore of it than ever in this conferenceThe MAC is a Top 10 conference in RPI this year, so I guess I shouldn't be as upset as I am with our road record, especially considering our roster's youth.I think we'll be fine on a neutral court (MACC). We were pretty good in Charleston.
Dave in Green
... Pat also missed some inside shots. ...I assume that you're joking as I was about the shooting percentages on 2- and 3-point shots. Pat was 6-11 from the field. He leads the MAC in field goal shooting percentage. Pat was not the problem today.

If someone wants to point fingers, Kwan was 2-9, Big Dog was 1-8, and Noah at 4-19....which included missing his first 10 shots !!Actually, I'm rather stunned that Noah took 19 FG attempts. I think that's an indication of our desperate attempt to keep pace with them in the scoring column. On a side note, I'm sure I am not the only person who's thrilled to see Jake starting to hit shots and be a part of the scoring effort again.
