Game 1—Oklahoma

Recommended Posts

I like how Oklahoma intimidates the visitors by making you walk over their National Championship years.

Maybe when it was reported earlier in the week that Johnny J's would have a watch party....they weren't aware that it was PPV ? Balsy, I remember those conversations last year about organizing Watch Parties, and not many people joined in to say that they would attend.

"Team Note | True Freshman Corner Into The Fire: As I mentioned earlier in the week, I had heard that true freshman PJ Mbanasor had been taking a lot of first team reps at corner throughout the week. I checked with a couple sources and it appears that Mbanasor is expected to get the start on Saturday night.

I cannot get into the specifics of what led to Mbanasor getting the start over Jordan Thomas, but I can say Thomas is expected to play on Saturday as well. And while it will continue to be a competition, as is virtually every starting position throughout the season, the expectation is that Thomas will resume his starting role the following week in Knoxville. Pph, what is the Sooner nations overall perception of Stoops?

Currently mixed, at best.

A large group think he has gotten lazy and rests on his laurels. Hires his buds and relatives even if they aren't worth a damn. They really dislike his brother Mike. A majority wanted Mike gone last year.

Personally, I think that last year hey were two players away from a possible playoff appearance.

Qb play was average at best. They were trying to change from a high flying pass offense to a more qb read style passing game. This was out of Josh H's wheelhouse. Didn't work out well.

They needed one additional press cover corner. As the year went on the weakness was found and exploited.

I still can't say the weaknesses have been addressed.

Another 8 or 9 win season and the pressure will be intense.

Anybody know if there will be any televised replays of the game? If it is on for free sometime later in the holiday weekend I may just try to avoid knowing the result until that time. If not, it looks like ai'll be listening to Frenchy on the radio call tonight. This PPV thing bites the big bologna.

Good use of Periscope! I hope they continue doing different things throughout the season.

I am utterly unfamiliar with Periscope - though my first impression was fantastic. They mentioned that they were going to preview the jerseys later sometime today. How are we supposed to know when they may begin live streaming that?

True freshman kicker/punter for OU...hopefully he will whiff a few :)

Special teams

Akron has a senior punter and placekicker on its roster. OU will counter with true freshman Austin Siebert, who will handle both jobs. Oklahoma’s punt return game needs improving. The highlight for OU will be Alex Ross’ kick returns.

Advantage: Zips

Kids ranked at the top of Kohl's are not likely to whiff. Ranked #2 kicker and #1 punter in class of 2015. Snapper is solid, too.

It is always a concern with any freshman. They claim he has been kicking the snot out of the ball. Hit a 52 yarder with time running out in the 2 minute drill. Claimed it would have been good from 62.

I don't really think any of us expectus to win. I think we believe we can win With a few bounced or calls or whatever. Definitely don't see it being a blow out like most sooner fans. Not that I wouldn't expect that as well if I were a sooner fan. The zips defense will give the sooners all they can handle. If we can manage to do something in offense it could get very interesting
