Game 11—Buffalo Bulls

It has been that way for several games. I am guessing he has a jersey preference that the regular jerseys cannot accommodate in terms of fit or some other feature.

Probably that or the Zips are running out of jerseys and Adidas stopped making that particular jersey style years ago.

Hopefully a bowl game appearance forces the team to get some new jerseys, so we don't look like bums on national tv.

Wish we could drop Adidas all together, always wear outdated uniforms when the rest of the college world updates their uniforms yearly...

That's not on Adidas, that's on Akron. These are the same uniforms they've had since 2009. They just haven't had a reason to get new ones until now. Hopefully this is the last season for this set.

I've had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with Mr. Dickerson for a few days. Considering his position, he's a very down to earth, approachable, and genuinely nice guy. He is actually from Strongsville I believe, and has brought in some hometown guys with him at Under Armour. He also maintains a good relationship with the University, specifically the CBA. It's a shame nothing ever got worked out because as of about two weeks ago, Brad announced he is actually leaving Under Armour.

I am surprised nobody has commented on this yet:

The hat promotion was a joke. They only had 1,000, and all of the students went in there with their ID's an hour before gametime, lined up at the tables, got their hats, and left.

I saw a poor guy with his little kid scrambling around the stadium asking where to get the hats. He was WAY too late, even though it was still 30 minutes until kickoff. And I am sure he was only one of hundreds of people who were disappointed.

The saddest thing was that I saw a group of about 10 students walking together through the campus about an hour before gametime, ALL wearing their new hats, and ALL of them were headed far away from the Stadium.

Someone had a great idea. Why didn't we give those out as people were EXITING the game?

My wife and two kids. Rushed out to the game. In the cold and rain. We were there over an hour early. No hats. All gone. Very bush league. Season ticket holder. Disappointed again. Way to go UA. Saw more hats on cheerleaders and on the field than in the stands. Pathetic operation.

I finally had a chance to watch the recording of the game to compare it to what we witnessed in person. I wanted to see this before providing any commentary. Here are some random thoughts:

  1. It’s been slowly and steadily heading in this direction, but this game highlighted the staff’s focus on using TW13’s strengths – stretching the field with the deep ball and running him just enough to not allow the defense to key on the lone RB.
  2. The play that #55 (Brandon Crawford) made to take CH4 out of the game appeared to me as a borderline personal foul call in person, and after watching it on TV I still think it (partial head plant) could have been called. Crawford did impress me with his strength and aggressiveness, though. Hopefully, Conor will be OK soon (looked like a concussion concern to me).
  3. If CH4 is out for this week, I hope Woodson and Alexander work some on the read option. While Alexander had a fantastic game in relief, there were a few times when the confusion as to who was going to carry could easily have led to a turnover. There was even one instance when they BOTH held onto the ball (hadn’t realized that in person).
  4. It’s good to see some younger players stepping up in the secondary when the game was still on the line. Brown and George both made big contributions. It was also good to see the 2nd and 3rd team D get some reps, especially since UB left Licata in the game until the end. Sure there’s plenty of work to do there, but it was the 1st time I recall seeing guys like Bell playing beyond special teams. Speaking of future LBs, I think Ulysees Gilbert could be the next exceptional one at UA. He’s been great on special teams all year, and I liked what I saw of him at LB on Saturday. He’s got the speed to stay on the field for every down.
  5. It’ll be very interesting to see how UB does during the rest of Leipold’s tenure. He was one of the more interesting FBS hires last year, and I imagine Bulls fans are a tad disappointed in the results thus far. I saw a fair amount of talent on the far sideline on Saturday, and I’m not sure they’re getting the most out of it in 2015.
  6. After last year’s shellacking in Buffalo, the turnaround on the scoreboard was most pleasing. I enjoy the rivalry that’s brewing between these teams.

Maybe my memory was wrong, but I was pretty sure the bolded was Hundley and Woody. As for Leipold, when I was reading up for the Buffalo game I remember reading that he thought he was actually a year ahead of schedule. Whether that's true or not..I don't know.

I read somewhere (I honestly forget where) that it was a head injury for Hundley. If this were 3 games ago, I think Bowden would be sitting him this week. But, given that he is a senior and unlikely to play in the NFL, we may see him if he is cleared medically. If not, Alexander played a great game against UB and hopefully will be up for the task against a stouter defense.

Now that you mention it, I think you are correct on Hundley sharing that carry with Woody.
