tomzip
I am so sick of losing to teams that we are better than....they suck and we had no business losing that game, yet that still seems to happen multiple times every year. We will never be anything other than an auto-bid 13-14 seed unless we quit losing games like that
phil
Does anybody remember last year when we lost our first 4 or 5 close games because nobody would step up at the end of ball games. This is supposed to be an experienced group. The best we can do is Kwan taking 3 long range threes at the end of the game. NKD should have pulled him after the second one. I would rather see Ivey than Josh at the end of the game.

zippy5
To be fair to Kwan, the way the last few minutes went, what else could he have actually expected to happen? Better to throw up a 3 for a chance at win then pass out to God knows what would have played out.. He had a step on the guy. Oh well. ogzips
IVEY really bring offense and defense intensity to the game, block shots driving to rim. HE NEEDS TO START, he also made great passes. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY HE WASNT IN THERE DOING THE STRECH RUN ! when he is the game you can tell how smooth the offense runs. It could have been bothering him because there's really no other reason as to why he wouldn't have played more.
The Hip Zip
Deep breath people, it's over. This was a tough spot on the schedule no matter who we played. We will get healthier, we will get better.

It could have been bothering him because there's really no other reason as to why he wouldn't have played more. He's going to be very good. He's a little out of control at times thus far. Dumb turnover at half court and an ill advised shot when he drove and just threw it up. I have no doubt he's gonna be a monster but coming off a knee injury combined with the fact that he's only played a couple games, I think he's best in ten minute doses for the time being
ogzips
To me Josh is overrated, he may be ready in the future. But to me Jimond Ivey is ready NOW! This lost to this sorry team really hurts......
ogzips
I have been following this guy, he can play his wild shots better than most of our control shots. I PAID CLOSE ATTENTION TONIGHT THIS GUY NEEDS MINUTES!

We will get healthier, we will get better. I am not sure if we will "get" better. We will certainly "look" better because we will be playing crappy teams over the next 4 weeks. After all, this is why we avoid scheduling decent teams in our OOC schedule. We need to inflate our record and talk about the consecutive 21 win seasons.

We need to inflate our record and talk about the consecutive 21 win seasons."Not sure if we will get better" Because this team is obviously not capable of playing better. This was one of the worst overall single game performances by a Dambrot coached Akron team--and it was a 3 point loss on the road to end a three-game road trip.To think that this group will shoot that poorly and not take care of the ball for an entire season is beyond asinine. As they say in Green Bay, R-E-L-A-X
skip-zip
Forget about the "fatigue" crap. It's early in the season, and 3 games in 8 days. Nobody mentioned fatigue when we were winning 3 games in 4 days in March, and that would have been the perfect time of the year to use that as an excuse. And Antino played big minutes in those games too. Losing has a way of finding excuses. This was a lack of focus. Guys carelessly dribbling the ball, lack of good decision making offensively, losing sight of a guy beating you down the floor, etc. And frankly, that Green Bay team who had been described as "bad" appeared to be quicker and more athletic than the Zips. I always hate to say this in November, but this is one of those "bad losses" that will likely have an impact on where we go and how we are seeded in March.

skip-zip
In November, with more than 2 days between games, without coming back to Akron in between? They had every reason to be totally focused on a basketball game, and it was the lack of focus that was costly. skip-zip
Personally, I don't want to say Josh is overrated, or give him a pass as a freshman. From what I've seen and heard about his ability, I'm just simply disappointed in what we've witnessed thus far. We've had true freshman many times before who seemed to make the transition to the D-1 College level fairly quickly, and he's really struggling. If I had to cast a vote right now, I think I'd much rather see Ivey get the primary minutes at the 2 Guard, let Antino and eventually Noah handle all of the point guard duties, and work on bringing Josh along a little more slowly. We have plenty of games coming up where you can get a young player some additional work and experience. ogzips
I agree that IVEY should be getting the primary minutes, and that josh should be coming along slowly. It is apparent josh is not ready right now!
phil
I stated in the preseason rankings forum that this team had some weaknesses from last year, We shot the 3 ball too much, ranking 2nd in the nation, we did not shoot it really well, and that we did not get to foul line very much and when we did we did not shoot it very well.In the last 3 games against good competition, we are shooting about 29 three balls a game, about the same as last year, we won the one game when we shot it well, 47% and lost the 2 games where we shot it poorly, about 31%. Kwan shot 4 three balls in the last 5 minutes of the game last night missing them all. We were outshot from the foul line 85 to 55. Once again we are not a good foul shooting team. Although it is early, it looks like once again we are a perimeter team and not sure if we can ever win against good teams unless we shoot the 3 ball in the mid 40% range. morris buttermaker
What a waste of time watching that train wreck last night. After watching a good effort against Arkansas the rest of the trip turned out to be disappointing. At this point we can give them credit for being outscored in the last 24 minutes of the Villanova game by 21 points, and taking off the first 40 minutes of the Green Bay game. Hopefully these fall under what coaches/ and some fans so often refer to as "good losses" and they can rebound against Charleston Southern
