Kevin Gladdney, Jojo Natson, Kwaderrius Smith and Bryce Jones were all treated like newcomers. I found him not mentioning Krok to be unusual. He spent a lot of time talking about how he is rebuilding the o line. Edited February 3, 2016 by UAZippers

UAZippers
A recruit by the name of Tre Richardson seems to have commited to the Zips also. It looks like he is from Can't Roosevelt. He didn't have an official announcement either.

Good player, but likely a walk-on for us.

UAZippers
Overall, the most interesting comment from Bowden's press conference was that he wants to make the University of Akron the premier Midwest school for players that want to play football and compete on the track and field team. He mentioned that this was a huge reason for us getting both Kwaderrius Smith and Bryce Jones as transfers. If it continues to get us fast, skilled players, I am all for it. "Six of the signees— DL Trevor Brown (Clinton, Md.), OL Brandon Council (Tar Heel, N.C.), LB Jamal Davis II (Canton, Ohio), S Shawn Featherstone (Pittsburgh, Pa.), OL Montel Jordan (Deerfield Beach, Fla.), and OL Cedric McCoy (Palatka, Fla.), — enrolled in classes in January 2016. Jordan originally signed with the Zips in 2015. The 2016 recruiting class includes seven student-athletes who were on campus during the fall 2015 semester—LB Brian Bell (Valdosta, Ga.), WR Kevin Gladney (Akron, Ohio), TE Brandon Junk (Clearwater, Fla.), ATH Vince Lockett (Akron, Ohio), OL Xavier Quigley (Ankeny, Iowa), DE Daumantas Venckus (Weston, Fla.), and LB Josh Ward (Delray Beach, Fla.). Captain Kangaroo
Regarding 2015 listee Ray Ray Smith - word on the street is he never made the requisite test scores and decided to go JUCO rather than be a non-qualifier for the Zips. You never know if he gives UA another look, but he's thought to be "an SEC talent" and likely will end up at a P5 program. I thought it was interesting that Bowden said he got a large haul of really good OL's because we'd lost 5 senior linemen this year, The newcomers all felt the Zips situation was their best chance to see the field the fastest. Also - usually the coaches are reserved in discussing which incoming Freshman have the best chance to see the field the fastest, but he stated Davon'te Jest was expected to come in and at least partially fill the void of Rodney Coe's departure. The kid looks like a beast on film. Jo Jo Natson will be a HUGE addition to special teams and the offense. Unbelievable quickness & speed. Natson, Gladney, Lane and Traylor-Bennett...Young and Wolf...Woodson has to be licking his chops! It's gotta be a completely new look for the offense next season. And I would not be too concerned about the RB situation. Word on the street is there are a couple players still to be signed, including a back.

Dr Z
Ohio dot com article on signing day by GT. "Six of the recruits — Trevor Brown, Brandon Council, Montel Jordan, Jovann Letuli, Cedric McCoy and Jonathan Neeley — are offensive linemen. Even more important is that four of them enrolled early and will be able to participate in spring practice, which should allow them to challenge for significant playing time." Video of Jaleel Davis signing at his high school. “I broke records here, and I’m trying to break records at Akron,” Davis said. In his senior year, Davis broke Titusville’s record for rushing yards with 3,840 over his high school career, surpassing Gerald White, who played with the Terriers from 1980 to 1982 before moving on to play with the University of Michigan and the Dallas Cowboys. Davis also scored 42 career touchdowns."
