1981 grad Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Miami has just lost 3 games in a row including a home loss to Ball State and a 44 point loss at Toledo. We have lost 2 of our last 3 including our last 2 away games. Miami did not look good at our place and I wondered whether this team would win any games in the MAC. However they won 3 out of 4 before their current losing streak including an away win at Western Michigan. As KD indicated at his press conference after the Kent win that Kent made all their shots within 3 feet of the basket. We need to improve our defense especially against the dribble drive. Lurking in my mind was our terrible finish at the end of the conference play last year when we lost 6 of 7 including 2 games to this Miami team. With Pat out we only have 2 rim protectors, Kwan and Big Dog. If one or both of them get into foul trouble (Kwan is prone to dumb fouls), we could have trouble like we did at Kent. If other teams do not double team Big Dog and stay with our perimeter players we need to be able to drive to the basket and force an opposing player to stop the drive. Antino had several nice drives to the basket but Noah and Josh had trouble penetrating the defense. (both are coming of injuries) Jake and Reggie could not penetrate past their man at Kent. I think KD should get Jimond more playing time since he is our best guy to dribble drive. Based on the Kent game, I think he could be a great asset but he needs playing time. Quote
kreed5120 Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Anyone know if Pat will be back for this game? Quote
ace Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Unrelated to hoops but I was actually in Oxford over the weekend and MU has done a great job with a lot of recent construction and campus improvement without going into financial trouble....U of A should take some notes. Quote
morris buttermaker Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 I believe Miami is the second most subsidized athletic dept in the MAC.. As for general construction they relied heavily on donation and an increase in student fees. Quote
The Hip Zip Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Doing my part by switching avatars after a loss . However,I am overwhelmed with the sinking feeling that this game is going to be much closer than it should be. Maybe, hopefully it's just me. Quote

KD was quoted in the Beacon today that Pat will probably not be back until March 1st against Ohio so that he can get back to being 100% healthy. Quote

Although Akron is a 7 and a half point favorite, realtime RPI's forecaster seems to agree with your thoughts:http://realtimerpi.com/cgi-bin/rpi/scouting?team1=261&team2=269&gender=1&home=at&date=02-23 Quote
GJGood Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Just win tonight! .... (and root for Buffalo and BG as well) Quote
kreed5120 Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 I'm saying Zips return to their 40% 3-point shooting ways and walk out of Miami with a 12 point win. Quote
mivid12 Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 game will be on csn plus...channel 665-1 on directv fyi Quote
skip-zip Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 McKnight scares me, the way he can get to the hoop. I'm glad this might be the last time we see him playing that isolation game with our guards up top. Keep him under 15 and we can make this game rather easy. But I have a feeling someone like him can explode without a rim defender like Pat in there. It will be interesting to see if we actually are prepared to play some Zone D with Pat's absence being extended, and if we will actually do it. Quote
LoyalZIP Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Haven't won there in a while, but the Zips need to take out the trash this week. Quote
zippy5 Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 ASN does such a nice job with their broadcasts Quote
zippy5 Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Josh Williams is going to be so so so good. I can't wait for the rest of his career. Quote

zippy5 Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Little early to make that statement Quote

It isn't that early. This is a guy that has to replace Jake and Reggie's time next year. He can't even shoot a free throw!!! I can shoot as well with my eyes closed. Quote
zippy5 Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 He should have three years left. Calling him a sophomore is a little misleading Quote

1981 grad Posted February 24, 2016 Author Report Posted February 24, 2016 Our offense looks very stagnant. Jake and Kretzer once again are not getting any open looks and are not creating their own shots. We need to dribble drive. Noah had a nice dribble drive and then fed the ball to Josh for 3. We have got to play better the second half on offense. This looks like Kent State again. Quote
GoZips88 Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 (edited) 2 minutes to go in Buffalo. Buffalo up on Can't 84-64. OU up by a point at BGSU at the half 37-36. Edited February 24, 2016 by GoZips88 Quote
MDZip Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 We're not exactly playing our best ball at this point in the season. A little worrisome. Quote
