KD's POST season record pulled from Wikipedia.  Keep in mind that the 2nd round in the NCAA is where 64 of the 68 teams start off with the incorporation of the Tuesday play in game.  i see a lot of 1 and done.  Sorry...he has taken the program as far as it can go with him.

First of all, you selectively decided to only look at games after the MAC tournament.  They put up a graphic of his postseason record during the EMU game, and it's actually pretty good.

Secondly, you can have your opinion.  Everyone else can have theirs too.  But it's certainly rather definitive to say that the program is as far as it can go.  That's an opinion, not a fact.  if you want to argue that as an opinion, then maybe you could start a dialogue here.  But it's been done before, at length.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anybody. ESPN, a couple years ago, paid a huge amount of money to air the NIT.

The games are based on what brings in the most money (attendance/TV audience). Akron@OSU accomplishes that from ESPN's perspective.

I don't see an issue with that, either. This is a consolation tournament. If ESPN wants to make the tournament economically viable, then ESPN has the right to set it up so it's also economically viable for them.

Is more revenue generated by television viewership or ticket sales at the venue? Having a game with Ohio State in Akron would be much better TV as the JAR would be rocking and the crowd would be split on who they were rooting for. While Akron at Ohio State would be a good game on the court you aren't going to get the same feeling of an exuberant setting from viewing that on the tube.

And I would argue that Akron would sell more tickets to have OSWho as a home game.  Have you ever seen some of the attendance numbers in recent years when some of these "entitled schools" host an NIT game that they don't care to be playing?

OK, help understand how his MAC tourney record is a positive in getting into post season tournaments and having success in those tournaments?

Yes. I have seen that in a lot of instances. In the case of Columbus, though, I think they could still get more for an NIT game than Akron could get in the JAR. It wouldn't be anywhere near a full house but I think it would clear the 5,500 mark. If that matchup did come to pass I'd hope that a large Akron and zipsnation contingent would be down here in my hometown.

You still couldn't replace the excitement level the matchup would have if it was in the JAR though, not even close.

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty nervous about this one. The Canadians looked really good last night and they are not the best match-up for us. However, I know that the Zips will rise to the occasion and play their hearts out. The players are hungry after two straight years without MAC finals appearances. I'm expecting a real dog fight that comes down to the very end.

Good call.

MAC Championship appearances last 10 seasons:

Akron: 8
Ohio: 3
Buffalo: 3
Kent: 2
CMU: 1
WMU: 1
Miami: 1
UT: 1

MAC Titles last 10 seasons:

Akron: 3
Ohio: 2
Buffalo: 2
Kent: 1
WMU: 1
Miami: 1

This season we're 26-8 with a top 40 RPI, go undefeated at home, regular season champs, and lose on a buzzer beater in the Final and some of you guys want to fire Dambrot and/or the coaches.

This site used to be good.  I'm frustrated as hell too, but this is pure stupidity.  I guess we should grab a guy that, IF he's successful with bolt town with the first success he has?  And replace the guy (who is likely staying until he retires) who puts us in a spot to win the championship every single year?  Stop.  Just stop.

Congrats to Coach Oats and the Bulls. What he did as a first year head coach AND losing two of his best players (and some recruits too, IIRC) is outstanding. He also seems to be classy as well. I caught him stop celebrating and go out of his way to tell Coach Dambrot good game.

Regarding the game, we played good in spurts, but not good consistently enough to win. We looked straight bad at times. I would have liked to see Big Dog get some calls to go to the line a few times, but that's just how they were calling the game last night. They let both teams play. The Buffalo guards played well and hit the big shot at the end.

Letting one person form your opinion of a site isn't very bright either. It's okay, we're all frustrated.

Predictions:

If Kwan makes the first 3-pointer he shoots he will make more than one, and Zips Win!

If Akron makes 12 or more 3-point baskets, Zips Win, going away!

If Big Dog shoots more than ten free throws tonight, and makes 75%, Zips Win!

If UB shoots below 50% or below 40% on 3-pointers, Zips Win!

Kwan missed his first shot. He had one trey.

Zips made 13 treys of 33 for 39.4%. Not a bad percentage but it's still hard to watch so many misses. Then again, most of the misses are only off by an inch or 2 after the ball has traveled over 300 inches considering the arc.

Big Dog did not get to the FT line. We only took (and made) 2 foul shots, probably the saddest stat of the night other than the final score. I don't know how a coach lets that happen.

UB shot 37.7% overall, 35.7% 3PT. Definitely an opportunity lost.

As for KD, that was not a greatly coached game, but let's get some perspective.  We have the good fortune of being able to keep him because of an unfortunate ghost in his past.  As a result, we've been able to retain a top notch coach over the long term, something schools other than places like Duke and North Carolina are unable to do.  The alternative for a mid-major is try to hire the strong up and comer and if he's good you lose him in two years to a bigger program.  Thanks, but no thanks, I don't want to be that Portage County school or that place in Athens where uncertainty comes every two or three years or I end up with Kelvin Sampson's phone boy.  I'll take 20 wins every damn year, stability and consistency.

I was just pointing out to you that you were factually incorrect about Keith's postseason record.  I have no interest in debating with you about something else.  Like I said,  you seem definitely entrenched in your belief that we will never amount to anything with Keith at the helm.  So be it.

I do get it!  he gets us in position but what is his record?  granted the buzzer beater and I'll give last night....that 3 pt shot was clutch.  but what about the other games??  what about the CBI, CIT games??  there showcases for your program, right??  national games against St. Mary's, Oral Roberts, etc....granted the MSU victory on espn was awesome but  any others???  if you are happy and content....why all this bitching about the PF jackson did, the dribble penetration, putting Kwan back in for reggie...YOU got to the MAC final and lost to a hot team, who was better then you last night!!!  you are going to the NIT!!!!!   so....why is this site frustrated?????  because you underachieved?????  KD has gotten you to the MAC final, repeatedly!!  Why are you not happy with that?????

Anybody who wants to replace KD has not sat through the Hipsher and Coleman Crawford years of Akron Basketball.  We would not even have this board because the basketball was so bad that nobody even cared.  KD has given us good basketball teams for the past decade.  Not only that, he graduates most of his players.  The ones that don't graduate have nobody to blame but themselves.  Remember, he does not get the pick of the litter when recruiting.  This team did a good job of representing the U and lost on a buzzer beater.  We are lucky to have Kd.

bc..in my OPINION...it hasn't translated into a ncaa tourney run...so many mac teams have had that taste of fame/glory...from ball st back in early 90s thru ksu to ou in 2012.....we have not..and in my OPINION a ncaa tourney run garners MORE respect...21+ wins over 11 straight yrs is great but again...what has it gotten akron? nothing

I am happy with KD but unfortunately I believe we are limited to the conference we are in.

The lack of respect the MAC Conference gets on a national stage is the problem.

I honestly wish we had the option to bail like VCU & George Mason did leaving the Colonial Athletic Association
