Can't wait for this game. Lost a tough one to Tennessee. Beat Old Dominion like a drum with limited 1st team play. Have Miami in our sights for Saturday noon kick on ESPN . Finally, play the Zips and see what kind of road team we have this season. Good luck this week.

Another injuries site, lists both Brown and Ball as questionable for ASU. Ironically, ASU also has both a RB and DB questionable.

We just need to keep scoring the points. I'm thinking 65 will be enough to win this one also :)

Even after the pasting that the Canes gave us on Saturday, looking forward to our matchup. You guys definitely put it on Marsha and App fans like when someone puts it on Marsha ! Marcus Cox likely out this week so we will see how deep we are at running back. Hope that our young men can come back from the disappointment that was Saturday in Boone. Good luck and no injuries for either of us this week. :)

Even though their stud is likely out, the run game remains a threat with their physical OL. Marshall didn't pose much of a threat with the run game and I think App State is a completely different match up for us. 2 weeks ago I wouldn't have been as hopeful that we could match up but I think we have seen enough adjustments in the D to see that we can keep them somewhat contained.

I see no reason to believe that offensively we can't compete with any D we play through the end of 2016. In my mind it is just whether the D can play well enough to give the offense a chance to out score them.

If Cox can't suit it up, that should greatly increase the Zips odds of winning this game. Below is the YPC for App State's top 2 backs for each of their first 3 games.

..............................Cox...................Moore

Tennessee..............4.8.....................2.4

Old Dominion..........7.4.....................3.2

Miami..................... 4.3.....................3.9

However, since the injury has already happened, we can cheer for the coach to do what's best for the young athlete, and keep him out so that he recovers fully and is ready for the remainder of the season. :D

I was a lot more worried about this one last week than this week. Thought the Zips had very little chance until this weekend and with both Our game and the App. St. game that thought process changed in a hurry. I'd look at it as a pick 'em maybe even Akron by 1 as a home game? I'm excited for a good game and the possibility of starting a season 3-1. The last time the Zips started 3-1? Almost 25 years ago in Gerry Faust's 7-3-1 year in 1992.

Hopefully being the underdog at our place will give our team plenty of motivation to not let down after the big road win. ASU will be hungry to make amends for their poor showing against Miami. 3-1 OOC would be amazing.

Not to put the cart in front of the horse, but if the Zips manage to squeeze this one out, their next 2 games are Kent and Miami. A 5-1 start heading into WMU would be incredible and might actually attract Joe Akron's attention.

Ever since this schedule came out, I never thought that winning BOTH Marshall and A-State was a possibility.  But, I also thought that the road game in Huntington would be the most difficult.  So, I am just thrilled to still have a chance to be 3-1 in the OOC schedule.

Ahh...I'm glad to see that someone else sees this exact same potential path.

I already started a Thread on the WMU game a few days ago, and mentioned this very same scenario.

+1.  I didn't post it simply because I didn't want to jynx it.

If this were the Zips basketball team, the App State game would be the one where fans get all excited, buy in to the team 100%...and then Lucy yanks the ball away.

Without placing any undue significance on game #3 of a 12 game regular season...App State is a big one for the Zips Program and Joe Akron. Can the Zips pull through? A win gets the bandwagon in high gear. A loss... and it's "the same ol' Zips."

That's great! And they can start "doing those little things that no one knows about" by cutting down on the stupid penalties. Make the play, get up and walk away.

Oooohhh, we know about those. Do we ever know about those.
