kreed5120
Mehhh. Not a big fan of the white numbers on a white jersey.
Blue & Gold
I've always liked the monochrome look. I do wish they had a touch of gold, though. I also like the script Akron. Old school. Curious to see the away uni's. Alternates? I'd like to see gold uni's. We haven't rocked gold uni's since the days of Romeo, Wood & Joyce. Time flies; that's been a while now. kreed5120
I do agree the script Akron is a nice touch.

jupitertoo
George Thomas offers so little insight/analysis in his stories, it's like you're chewing air. I learned absolutely nothing from this article. He even has to refer to "people who have seen the Zips scrimmage" because he hasn't taken the time/effort to watch them himself. Can there be a lazier beat writer?

How about we have a uni with the actual school colors? Geez. Edited November 15, 2016 by ewbrooman1

The four major NE Ohio DI schools played each other at the same venue Saturday and coverage was reduced to a staff report. The problem seems to go deeper than GT. The problem seems to go deeper than GT. I'm going to copy and paste a post I wrote in another thread. I actually started a thread called, "So... is the Beacon Journal going bankrupt, or what?" It's in the General UA & Campus Discussions thread. The links here won't work, you'll have to click over to the original post for working links. ... We know the Zips coverage is laughable from the ABJ. They've got a D-1 university across the street and don't seem capable of giving them reasonable coverage. Here is the ABJ article from last night's UA-v-YSU game. It's a "Beacon Journal staff report" because... you know... Youngstown is so far away they couldn't be expected to actually send anyone to cover the game. Ohio.com's Akron -v- Youngstown State game coverage Now look what the ABJ (Ohio.com) offered for last night's Akron STVM -v- Akron Hoban football playoff game in comparison to what Cleveland.com did. There is no comparison, really. Ohio.com's Akron STVM -v- Akron Hoban coverage Cleveland.com's coverage of the Akron STVM -v- Akron Hoban game Cleveland.com has a game story, and focusses on a Hoban player (a human interest story?! The Beacon Journal has forgotten that those used to be a thing.) and 9... 9!... 9!!!... nine!... nine!!... NINE... NINE... NINE!!! videos!!! The Beacon sports (lack of) coverage has insulted and upset me for years. But now I'm just worried about Akron actually having a news source at all. Between the years of 1992 and 2016 circulation revenue has only increased 4.6%, not enough to keep up with inflation, and ad revenue has declined by roughly 50%. I wouldn't be surprised if in 20-30 years, maybe sooner, we see the Canton Rep and ABJ merge to form 1 more regionalized paper for Stark/Summit County. http://www.stateofthemedia.org/2013/newspapers-stabilizing-but-still-threatened/newspapers-by-the-numbers/

I agree people getting physical copies of newspapers is dying, but there will always be a need for someone to provide local community news. I'd expect the online presence to continue to grow. Newspapers will eventually rely on online ad revenue as their main source of income and they would need to grow their coverage area to produce more web clicks.
